LAPAROSCOPIC CHOLECYSTECTOMY

Hi! just had a lap chole procedure last 20th of April 2012 at Makati Medical Center.. Super okey naman sya.. 3days before ng operation naka confine na ako then 2days after the operation naka labas na ako.. Im 10weeks pregnant then nung ni Lap Chole ako.. Thats the reason yun yung procedure na pinagawa ko, coz that is the safest on my baby's side...  After 3 weeks I was able to go back to work.. Dapat 2 weeks lang kaya lang since im pregnant nag extend ako ng 1 week just to make sure my baby is safe.. I also loose weight 10lbs..  after operation.. And di ako nag gain ng weight during my pregnancy..

So far so good naman.. No side effect.. And now my baby is turning 7 months old sa tummy ko.. Ill be giving birth on the 30th of Oct cesarean section..  Although when it comes to the price mahal sya talaga.. Ang bill ko umabot ng 203k.. less phil health so all in all 185k sya inabot.. But its worthy..

Good thing I saw this thread. Medyo na ease up yung worries ko. I was found to have multiple gallstones during my executive check-up last month. The doctor advised me to have a lap chole. Wag ko na daw antayin sumakit pa tyan ko and ma-declare na emergency.

I'll be having this done at St. Luke's Global City. They have an ongoing 50% promo on select procedures, buti na lang kasama ito. Pero no worries naman kasi sagot lahat ng company ko. The procedure will cost around 40K++ only (OR/supplies/PF) not included are the room and meds.

For those who've gone through this procedure, what preparations did you do?

Hi Sis! I'm going to have this procedure done at St. Luke's Global City also. May I know how much your total bill was? How much was the PF? The PF quoted to be was 95K kasi. Ang mahal naman.

thanks for sharing. my doctor is dr. manalastas. i'm scheduled for operation on august 23 but ill be confined on august 22 after work. buti na lang covered lahat ng company medical benefits.

hello guys! this is my first time to engaged in a forum like this.

anyways, last thursday i was confined to Paranaque Medical Center with a chief complaint of severe pain on my stomach. several tests were done pero normal naman daw lahat so na discharge ako ng friday. pero sa bahay super sakit parin ng tyan ko as in. nagppanic na yung lola ko kasi paikot ikot nko sa kama and stuff. i took maalox, buscopan and gaviscon thinking na ulcer lang to.
sunday hapon came and i cant tolerate the pain anymore and was rushed to paranaque doctors this time. na confined ulit ako and all the tests done in Paranaque Medical Center were repeated. nag endoscopy rin ako to see whats happening inside me and the final diagnosis was rendered. GALLSTONES. i dont know why they wasn't able to detect it the first time i had my abdominal ultrasound.
my gastro advised me to go back to Paranaque Medical Center since dun daw ako makakamura and he is the therapeutics head there so may discount nga. may doctor is really bait and hands down sa pagiging humble.
so bumalik ako sa Paranaque Medical Center and dun ako nagpaopera wednesday morning. i was so shocked to see my gallstones. super laki like 3cm each. anyways 3 stones ang nakuha sken
so far kakauwi ko lang ngayon sa bahay and mababa ang bills ko as in. like below 100k. super tawad kasi ako kay doc. hopefully, i can go back to my normal life but not to my normal diet

@bathilda, I just back read my earlier post (page 2 post #37) on this thread. Total bill was 205K including 3 PFs (surgeon, anesthesiologist and my cardiologist because of my hypertension). Pero kung wala ka naman heart problem or hypertension you just have to pay for the surgeon and anesthesiologist.

Thanks Sis. Wala ako problem sa heart pero the surgeon still wanted a cardiologist. I don't know if it's because of my age (46). I guess ganun na talaga ang rate. Everything will be covered naman by my medical insurance but of course I don't want them to take advantage just because it's covered. At least I have an idea of the cost. Thanks again Sis!

hello. i just had my operation last august 23 at Makati Med. as planned, i was admitted at 7PM on august 22 then had my operation the following day at 11 AM. i was discharged just one day after my operation, august 24. 70k something yung bill but the PF of the doctors are not yet included. so far, wala naman akong naging problem after the operation. a little pain lang sa area kung saan may incisions and konting pain pag umubo o tumawa and some singaw pero other than these, ok naman lahat

wow. kakabilib mga stories dito. Meron din ako stone less than 1 cm [textspeak!] so the doc didn't recommend to have it operated on. Hopefully I can just watch my diet or do the apple juice diet to keep it from getting bigger.

question lang sa mga nagpa-lapchole na... wala bang side effect yung pagkawala ng gallbladder ninyo like loose stool and if you have a certain diet that needs to intake for the first two weeks or for lifetime.

^ sa akin, sa mga sumunod na linggo nung bumalik na ako sa work, pag kumakain ako ng baka, nae-LBM pa ako. Pero nung tinuloy-tuloy ko na ang kain, umayos na rin. This might sound funny, pero nagiba din ang amoy ng fart ko.

i am assuming na kaya kayo nagpa-lapchole ay dahil na din sa gallstones. after ba the procedure hindi na kayo sinakitan ng sikmura? or before ba kayo ma-diagnose na may gallstones kayo eh may history na kayo ng gastritis or ng ulcer? sa mga napagtanungan ko kasi dito sa GT, pare-pareho kami ng situation -- matagal na history ng gastritis at recently diagnosed with a gallstone. yung isang sis nga na nakausap ko, after nyang ipa-remove yung gallbladder nya, bumalik pa din yung pain sa sikmura.

Gastritis din ang diagnosis sa akin for more than a year bago ako nagpaopera. Hindi na bumalik ang sakit ng tyan ko after the operation.

sa ngayon kasi paminsan-minsan may nararamdaman akong mild shooting pain sa ilalim ng right rib cage ko pero hindi ito kasing sakit ng pain ng gastritis. nawawala din naman yung pain. tatlong gastro doctors na ang nilapitan ko. dalawa sa kanila, hindi naman nag-advise na ipatanggal ko yung gallbladder ko. i asked them their opinion if they were in my shoes, sabi nila hindi daw nila ipatatanggal unless i am experiencing excruciating pain. yung isang doctor lang ang nagsabi na ipa-opera ko na together with a group of surgeon na tumingin sa akin during one time na nadala ako sa ER. syempre bread and butter nila yun kaya ganun na lang sila ka-eager na kumbinsihin akong magpa-opera.

^ yung father ko naexperience niya yung sobrang sakit ng tiyan na parang tumutugon sa likod.. Nung late night nun hindi na niya matolerate yung sakit kaya he was advise na magpaultra sound. Dun nakita na may gall stones siya. He was given two options: 1. to take medication na medyo pricey din and hangga't nandun yung gall bladder niya may tendency na sumakit pa din yung tyan niya. 2. to undergo lap chole. Syempre we choose yung lap chole kasi hindi na niya matolerate yung sakit. Tsaka yun nga hangga't nandun yung gall bladder mo with gall stones, sasakit at sasakit ang tiyan niya.. Okay naman naging operation. Okay na din siya ngayon and balik na yung gana niya and yung weight niya. ^_^

^sis mukhang hindi gallstones ang sa iyo kundi bladder stones or urinary stones. Sa amin kasi wala namang dugo sa urine namin kahit na may multiple stones kami.

iba pa ba ang gall bladder stones sa gall stones? parang pareho lang yon sa pagkakaalam ko.... loveann pede din na may UTI ka have yourself checked by a doctor for peace of mind.

Based on my urinalysis: my protein is 2+, then niresetahan na rin ako ng er doctor ng ciprofloxacin,then next week schedule ako for ultrasound..

prettybarbie, yes iba po ang bladder stones sa gallstones. ang bladder po ay yung tinatawag nating pantog sa tagalog. ito po yung imbakan ng ihi. yung gallstones ay mga bato na nasa gallbladder. magkaiba po ang gall bladder at bladder. magkaiba din sila ng sistema. yung gallbladder ay sakop ng digestive system samantalang yung bladder ay sakop naman ng urinary system. kung may rbc or red blood cell sa iyong ihi, may posibilidad na may UTI ka, or may kidney stones ka or bladder stones.

loveann, malalaman lang naman sa ultrasound kung may gallstones ka. yung doctor ay mag-o-order na ipa-ultrasound mo ang iyong liver, gallbladder, pancreas upang suriin kung may gallstones ka nga. pero dahil sa nasabi mo na may dugo sa ihi mo then nag-conclude ako na hindi gallstones ang meron ka. i am hoping na sana wala kang bato sa bato kundi isang case lang ng UTI. kasi yung kidney or bladder stones iba ang treatment nun. kumpara sa UTI na simpleng inom lang ng antibiotic at madaming tubig ang lunas nyan kasabay ng pag-iwas sa mga carbonated drinks. sa gallstones naman, operasyon ang itinuturong kasagutan ng western medicine.
