WORKING AT SM (SUPERMALLS)

hello po mga sis. newbie po ako dito. may job offer na po ako as acounting associate kaso natatakot ako kase daming negative feedback sa sm supermalls.

All I know is that they always have OT. Halos lahat ng kakilala ko hindi nasusunod yung working hours nila. Lagi may extension.

totoo! lagi ngang may OT. at ang masaklap pa, walang bayad. kaya tawag namin, OTY. "ohh, thank you " -work kasi ako sm moa dati kaya alam ko.. kaya nung nabuntis na ako sa eldest ko, nagresign ako. kasi 1 day lang restday. tas napaka strict kahit seconds ka lang late. pero pag pinag overtime naman, wala silang paki. kaya napaka unfair.

mga sis sm corp is the mother company and under it is madami sya subsidiaries..

sa smdc no sat work sila sabi ng friend ko kasi boss nila yung son ni henry sy.. ako im also new meron 2 sats kasi officer-mgrs up.. pag staff and supervisor rank every sat meron..kasi under kami sa daughter naman nya..

weird noh iba iba palakad nila..just my observation..

I used to work there and I can say that if you are looking for experience, then probably SM is good. I had my first job there and after I quit and moved to my new company, I felt like ang dali ng lahat. Seriously. Pinaka useful  is yung natutunan ko to work under pressure and how to multi-task. Yes, true sobrang daming work talaga. Di nauubos. OTY 95% of the time haha. But in my opinion, its better than having no work at all, tama? hehe...I was an officer kasi so the yearly increase is pretty good so wala na  rin ako marereklamo since its my priority, I had to sacrifice my social life. Anyway, its your decision. Tip ko lang is expect things that can usually be found in big companies.

I am called for an interview for Forever 21 here in our province, I believe SM dept store handles the F21 franchise here. and I am having second thoughts on whether to go or not. I don't know if it's for the Assistant Manager position or boutique staff they didn't disclosed those details when they emailed and called me. Same din ba ang sahod nila sa SM department store? Kasi kung minimum sila at no OT pay, same lang sa current job ko to, might as well stay on my current company (?) Worth it ba i-give ang ang airline job (ground) ko for this?

My first job was with SM Department Store in Batangas City. Sacrifice talaga ang social life mo. Kahit Christmas, papasok ka. Nakaka-sad kapag pumapasok ka ng sunday then yung family gatherings namin usually during sunday. Kapag may leave credits ka na, naka-plan na yun for the whole year. Unahan pa sa pagreserve ng VL na kadikit ng holy week kasi hindi pwedeng maraming magleave sa ganung days. Sobrang higpit sa time. Daming bawal. Kahit colors ng strap ng watch mo, may limitation. Normal na ang makareceive ng warnings. Kahit suspension, normal lang din. Kaya after ko maka-1 year, resign na ko.

But in fairness, madami kang matututunan na ma-apply mo sa future jobs mo. Maganda talaga sila if you're looking for experience. Madali na for you on your next job.

my friend has a friend who is working in sm mall (office), maliit lang daw salary plus wala atang benefits kung meron man onti lang. yes OTY rin sila.

Mahirap magwork sa sm pero I think maganda siya na training ground for fresh grads. I worked for SM for 3 years after my graduation. I am now in another company and mabilis ako natanggap kasi feeling nila magaling ka if nagsurvive ka sa SM.

BTW if head office based ka, sat-sun naman ang rest day. If mall-based, like any other malls, one rest day lang and bihira ang weekends.

Basta for me magandang training ground ang SM. If fresh grad ka, you should consider working there. Kapag napunta ka sa ibang company, petiks na lang promise!

Hi ladies! Newbie here.. Ask ko lang kung okey lang ba na magtext and magfollow up sa HR manager ng isang SM branch, just to know if they're still considering me for the position? I've been interviewed already by the HR manager then I took the exam already.. Still hanging pa rin ako if I'm still a candidate.. Any advise please.. Thanks.

^Hi sis, Matagal talaga hiring process nila. I think ok lang naman magtext sa kanila basta wag lang araw-araw.hehe. Kung na-interview ka na ng HR manager and ok ka sa kanya, saka ka endorse sa Department manager for another interview ulet. Maraming interviews dito and super tagal. Hindi din sila nagsasabi kung hired ka na unless may job offer na.

Thank you for the reply sis tsutsat sabi lang sakin ng hr manager na for processing pa ang application ko with the regional director.. Nakakapraning lang sis kasi i texted the hr manager this morning and no reply from her.. (patience is a virtue) hehe, sana maging okei ang result.. Sm ka rin sis? Thanks talaga for the advise..

Then I was called for exam, April na the day after our graduation. Then several interviews until sa VP for Treasury na. After that, wala na kong nareceived na feedback kung ano bang status ko. Another company hired me (technically, eto talaga first job ko). Mga 2 weeks na ko nagwowork dun saka ako tinawagan for medical examination. Since malayo at malabo status ko sa unang naghire sa kin, (no contract signed, Trainee daw pero di sinasabi until kelan) nag-AWOL na ko and report to SM. May 22 2006, official date hired ko sa SM Dept Store. Imagine, 2 months na processing! kaya tyaga lang sis.

I am just curious if there's anyone here who worked or is currently working at SMX?
I am planning to apply eh. And id like to know a couple of things sana

1.) for officer level. may uniform ba [textspeak!]?
2.) how many workin days?
3.) how is the environment sa office?
4.) how is the management?
5.) do they offer competitive packages, like salary, medical insurances bonuses etc?

Please enlighten me, TYSM in advance mga sis.

Hi girls! I was surprised na 1 day interview lang ako - I guess swerte lang that all of the people involved in the process were available during that day. The next day, tinawagan ako that I was recommended by the VP and for signature nalang daw sa president ang approval papers ko; paantay nalang daw for the job offer...

Ang tanong, how long ako magaantay? Tsaka ang weird, I was reading the thread halos lahat nagmedical muna before JO ba't sa akin hindi...

Basta naman nagconfirm na ang VP that you are accepted, okay na yun. Kahit ano na ang mauna sa medical, submission of requirements, signing of contract.
