Went to Maldives for our Honeymoon last October. And super WOW!!!! na-observe ko iba ang tubig dun compared sa mga napuntahan kong beaches/island saten. I've been to coron, boracay, puerto princessa, samal, batangas, etc.
Plus, they don't feed the fishes there to snorkel. Unlike saten, we feed them para lumapit saten e. ayun.

I'm super happy hubby granted my wish to go there for our honeymoon. worth every cent yung experience esp. sa resort.

True. But I must say it is comparable to Elnido. 

More variety of fish din dun.  Pero mas 'homey' parin ang service sa Elnido kasi alam mo naman ang hospitality ng mga local attendants natin. Compared to them, kasi mga puti din sila, so medyo hindi personal. But this may depend naman kasi which resort you went. Pero feeling ko kasi when I went to Maldives, parang ako ang bahala sa itinerary ko, bahala ka magresearch anong meron at anong wala, which best suits your likes/dislikes.  Sa Elnido, may guide ka talaga to assist you, to understand what you want/dont want and they are there to suggest the activities for you at kung gaano katagal ang stay ninyo para ma maximize ninyo ang stay.

Regarding its prices, hindi naman din nalalayo sa Pangalusian, Minoloc and Lagen (overall pricing ha). Kaya mas mahal lang ng konti from Manila to Male kasi walang direct flight at may connecting flights ka pa. But as far as the resorts and tours are concerned, Elnido and certain resorts in Maldives are comparable.  Malaki kasi ang range ng accommodation sa Maldives, from 1-2 star to 6 stars.  Unlike sa Elnido, medyo limited ang choices mo sa 5 star resorts.

We have decided to go Maldives this July. Sana matuloy.
Though wet season ang July, so baka umuulan, pero sabi naman okay pa din daw pumunta. Meron ba sa inyo naka punta during July?

mga sis if coming from Toronto connecting flight to male is from abu dhabi kailangan pa ba ng transit visa from abu dhabi? anong magandang hotel sa male we would like to stay an overnight before going to an island resort mismo..nalula ako sng presyo ng mga villas..

Weee!!! Just booked our flight to Maldives from Singapore. This July ang punta namin to celebrate our birthday. We booked tiger flight since mas okay ang timing nya and of course lot cheaper sa Singapore Airlines. Now need to research for a good hotel

We made it to Maldives. It was heaven on earth.

I spent only 334 USD (plus 50 usd pasalubong) for my 4d/3n stay. The hotel rates and all taxes are already included in that computation. Airfare lang ang di kasama (plus airport fees).

We didn't deprive ourselves at all. Madalas nga buffet ang meals namin hehe. I didn't even get the chance to eat the can of tuna paella na I brought. Yes, Maldives on a budget is possible. I will write about it in my blog.

But our main secret is: Stay at an inhabited island and take daily excursions to different resorts/beaches.

I plan to go back next year when I visit Sri Lanka. I will make a side trip to Maldives. Airfare lang talaga ang mahal but once you get past that, okay na!

Sis, Air Asia cancelled their Maldives route na. Their last Maldives flight is scheduled on Feb. 28. But they still service the KL-Colombo route so you can book a flight from Colombo to Male (and back). This will give you a chance din to explore Sri Lanka.

Or you can go to Maldives via Singapore through Tiger Airways.

Most na nakita ko couples kasi.

Pero may mga families din, but not baby, toddler yes. Pero yung families na may toddler, may kasama silang grandparents din para at times, the couple can have their own time din.

Daily excursions - hindi ba baka ma overprice kayo. Ilan kayo nagpunta?  On the contrary, I think the airfare is the one not expensive, I thought it is the accommodation/resort you are going to. Kasi may tiger airways naman.

^ you're right sis. air fare is not that expensive anymore kasi may tiger airways na from SG to Male. Ang mahal yung accommodation lalo na kung via seaplane ang transfer, parang ka presyo din nya yung airfare namain. di pa kame nakaka pag book ng resort, though i'm thinking kurumba or kuramathi.

Apat kami for the excursions. Nope, not overpriced for me. We got to enjoy a variety of islands and resorts.

Tiger Airways' fare is cheaper compared to other fares, but Air Asia rates pa rin ang the best, sayang inalis na nila.

Tip ko lang siguro, you have to really choose a resort where you want to stay. Kasi in Maldives, broad yung choices nila ng mga resort. They even have a resort on Male city mismo, which is much more affordable. But of course don't expect siguro yung accommodation, water, and view would be the same compared to the island resort talaga.

We stayed in the city kasi for a night because we arrived there ng gabi na. And we don't want naman to stay sa resort na on that night kasi sayang din yung bayad. hehe. so we opted to stay in the city. There was really a BIG difference dun sa city at dun sa mga island resorts. The city was like you're in Quiapo or Recto area. That's what we felt talaga. Masikip yung streets, madami tao, etc.

But then, when we arrived at the island resort (We stayed in Kurumba) the next morning. It was WOW!!! It was really different. The place was really beautiful. The sand, water, fishes, rooms. The place was so serene and very picturesque. We got the beach villa because we want to have our own beachfront. When you get the beach front kasi bawal mag swim yung ibang guests. As in sayong sayo lang yung area na yun. Pwedeng pwede mag-moment o emote kayo dun ni hubby. hehe. The room was big. As in BIG. I also love the outdoor shower and open-window na bath tub.

Sulit din dun sa resort we stayed at.They have different FREE activities everyday offered to all the guests. some were - snorkeling 101, bartending 101, back house tour, movie night by the beach etc. Of course, there were other activities that have a corresponding fee like dolphin watching, cruise.

Wiw after 4mos of research nakapagbook na din sa wakas! Meeru it is. Mas masaya sana kung di ako naubusan ng rooms sa Kuramathi tagal kasi magdecide. Anyway second option ko naman si Meeru tapos over water bungalow pa kaya keriboom na. Around 90k php for 5d4n including transfers saka fullboard meals for 2 (airfare not included --9k php per pax via tiger air) I cant say mura kc eto na ang pinakamahal na travel ko pero cheaper option sya for a maldivian holiday. 😁

We are also planning for a vacation in Maldives this December. can you please advise if this month is a good time to go there? or is it rainy during this month. Gusto ko kasi yung parang summer feel din kahit mga month ng December otherwise, we have to move our vacation date.

Hi Sis ycka29, dahil sa comment mo, sa Kurumba na din kame nag book. We booked the Private Villa with Jacuzzi. Medyo pricey pero reading the reviews mukhang worth it  naman. Question ko lang Sis, free ba mag snorkeling sa paligid ligid? TYIA!

we're planning our honeymoon, and first on our list is phuket(marriott, mai khao), but we're considering maldives also. i know i know, the cost are far apart, but we'll see pa rin.

is it really more expensive if we try to book directly with the resort. we're really liking what we see with kurumba so far. just a speedboat ride away, and the rates aren't that bad.
