We availed of the BPI/MS Travel Care Insurance for our month+ trip in the US. We went to a BPI branch last Friday and kanina namin nakuha yung full printout ng policy. But na-layout naman yung important points sa website nila if one checks it out. Hindi naman kelangan na depositor ka ng BPI to avail - they only need your passport and printout of the ticket. :)

More than Php2,900 but less than 3k. May specific rate kase sila for 30 days but yung trip namin is 30+ days kase so I think pro-rated na yung per day na dagdag.

They have 3 plans (different price din): gold, diamond and platinum. They have the same benefits for flight cancellations, lost baggage, etc. except for accidental death and medical expenses :)

Ay no, this isn't it. This is separate na binili namin, but then again we didn't use our BPI card to purchase our tickets. I don't know about the visa application kase di naman kami nirequire ng insurance nung nagapply kami for a visa and nung pagbili ng tickets (sa pagkakaalam ko haha) :)

I can't remember na how long it took to release my check claim. I do remember sending a follow up note. Pero may delay din on my end. Everything's done online, via email with scanned documents. But as for the claim, I requested it to be sent to the branch near our place instead of going to their main office in binondo.

Medical coverage is 1M (I think) in the policy. We spent around $300 USD plus in expenses and was reimbursed in full. So all in all, very happy with Malayan. 😄

Mine is AIG Philippines Travel insurance.

Now I am waiting for them to reimburse my medical expenses when I was abroad.  Let's see if okay.

Paano ba magclaim sa travel insurance? Kumuha ako nito for my schengen visa application, but never got to use it. For example, nagka-medical emergency while abroad and i have to go to the hospital, yung insurance company na ba magbabayad ng hospital bill, or do I have to pay it first, then ireimburse na lang ng insurance company pag-uwi ko sa Manila?

^Some insurance companies have an accredited list of medical providers at your destination. So dun ka lang pwede pumunta in case needed. Or the company will have a number that you have to call so they can direct you to the nearest hospital/clinic na accredited nila.

As to payment, depende din sa insurance company. Most insurance companies will just wait for the receipts in short advance mo muna then claim later. So it is best to check with your insurance company kung ano ang procedure nila.

I just wanna share our super fresh experience to encourage everyone to get a travel insurance.

So we arrived at HKG this morning. I and two of my colleagues, who are both first time travelers. So we took note of the name and filed a report (we didn't say na this person probably has the bag). Thanks to the Internet, we found the profile page of the person.

My colleagues and I are attending a conference and all her clothes were in the bag. At dahil dun, wala siyang masusuot, so she has to buy clothes.

Ayun, we bought clothes na lang. I don't know kung gaano katagal ang claiming nito (PAL), pero at least, up to 200 USD per 12-hour-period ang pwede i-claim, basta may OR.

Sobrang we never expected this to happen, pero for just 800 pesos, imagine, ma-solusyonan mo 'yung mga problemang hindi mo akalaing sa iyo mangyayari.

Hay. So me, I will never travel na without insurance.

I booked for my hubby's ticket through cebupac online and availed the travel insurance. After payment nareceived ko na yung itinerary ng flight pero wala yung confirmation ng insurance and i checked the ticket that I indeed paid for the travel insurance. Sa pagkakaalala ko kasi parang may separate email for the insurance aside don sa itinerary (di ko lang sure).

Sorry for the late reply.  I was able to reimburse 110 USD from AIG for my vertigo doctor's fee and hospitalization (outpatient) in Mexico.  Ok naman pala.  It took me around 2 weeks after ko ipadala via email yung mga scanned copies ng original.

What I don't like is that they initially gave me a check in PHP.  I told them my insurance is in USD so the check amount shouldn't be in PHP.  I prefer USD policy for travel insurance kasi lugi sa exchange rate and I can still use for my next travels.

After some arguing with the claims agent, she sent a messenger to our house to collect the PHP check and she proceeded with the fund transfer of 110 USD to my USD account.

Sa mismong AIG office sa makati.  Nung dumating ako, nag fillup lang ako ng form, tapos on the spot, binigyan na ako ng policy.

Pero ang problem ko with them is my policy costs USD 252, tapos walang barya sa USD 300 ang mga hinayupak, so nagwithdraw pa ako sa bank ko (which is around 1 KM from AIG office) para lang mabayaran sila ng exact USD 252.

I told them, i know marami silang expat na customers so sana they will keep USD currency sa caha nila.  They can't sell USD policy and expect customers to pay exact amount at wala silang panukli for USD.

I'm trying to get insurance for my parents who will be traveling with me to the US. Ang mahal pala ng insurance sa Pinas! For 15 days, P1k is for medical coverage of P2.5M lang or US$50k. Samantalang I got the most basic travel insurance here in SG for only P1,800 but medical coverage is $200k. Yung $50k kasi, ang small nya if magkaron ka ng medical emergencies requiring surgery, etc. which is why we get insurance, in the first place. :(

hello, I've researched 2 travel insurance providers and so far around P2,700 - 3,200K+ yun cost for 30 days for European countries. Ganito ba talaga yun price ng travel insurance or may cheaper pa dyan? :)
