@ning kuting sis did u get the aig travel insurance? How was your transaction? Mabilis Lang ba and did u have to go to their head office at Ayala ave to get it?

Bigla ako nag panic as I forgot to prepare for this earlier. Our flight to HK with my 9-mo old baby is on aug 22 na :(

Sisses, what about blue cross online application, mabilis Lang ba say if I apply today (Sunday), makukuha kaya siya before thurs? Tsk, holiday pa naman sa Wed :(

I'm new to this, hubby and I never had to get one for our previous frequent Asia and US travels.

With blue cross, if you buy today you can print it 3 minutes after. They will email it to you. Everything is online lang.

I am switching my travel insurance from Blue Cross to Malayan. Hindi ako happy sa Blue Cross when I made my claims for a delayed flight. Although mabait naman yung mga CSRs nila, kailangan pa akong mag demand bago nila ibigay yung claim benefit ko.

For my upcoming trip na lalabas na 45 days involving travels to the US and Europe, when I asked Blue Cross magkano premium ang mahal ng singil nila (PHP4800) as against Malayan na half the premium price lang. I compared both their coverage and benefits and pareho lang sila plus Malayan has an added value of a Car Rental coverage. Malayan also has an online purchase facility.

I prefer Malayan too.

Reminder: Study your policy well.
Find out what documents you need to submit to collect on your claim/s.

Thanks sisses! :)

I ended up getting blue cross for our short HK trip this week. But for our US trip in December which will last for a month, will go with Malayan (thanks for the info on rate & car rental coverage mamasqueak!)

Hi! I am just wondering when I booked online for our japan trip, i remember I didn't pay for travel insurance. I specifically unchecked the option for it saka yung seat selection para makabawas ng konti sa plane tickets namin but i received an email, after confirmation from cebupac, from malayan travel insurance and they sent me the copy of our travel insurance. I asked the representative and we applied and paid for travel insurance daw kaya i received the copy (since ako yung nag asikaso ng tickets sa ceb account ko). Hindi naman yun "joke" lang no? It means nakasama pa ron sa payment ko yung travel insurance namin? I have yet to read the stuff na included there. Now i am thinking na it's really important to have travel insurance dahil ang dami nang mga sakit na lumalabas ngayon. Ano ang maganda for short stay (15days only) in japan? Thanks!

I need travel insurance din. Ano kayang insurance company yung madali magclaim? We've been using blue cross before kaya lang ang daming negative feedbacks sa fb page nila, pahirapan daw sa pagclaim kung makaclaim ka man. Kaya gusto ko lumipat ng iba.

I switched to MAPFRE Insurance in 2012 and they are a pretty good choice. They provide both domestic and international insurance coverage. I had a little incident abroad and helped me with it. My baggage were put to another plane and I had to wait for a day to get it back. I bought clothes and toiletries and they reimbursed it when I got back home.

I always get travel insurance now.

I only had experience with Chartis/Philam in making a claim.  Ok naman although sobrang mabagal yung processing.  Kailang tutok sa follow up.  it came to a point na I'm doing follow up 2x/day.  And of course, a dose of sungit para gumalaw yung claim

Do you include your jewelry in your insured items when traveling?

I am not sure if there's a company that offers that kind of travel insurance in the Philippines. Mostly health and travel documents (passport) lang ang covered.

Do you include your jewelry in your insured items when traveling?

i am wondering kung covered ng travel insurance ang jewelry. kasi parang sa home insurance, palaging nakalagay na covered yung  personal effects "excluding money and jewelry."

when i bought travel insurance from malayan, ang nakalagay lang is that they will provide P50,000 for loss of baggage, with "sub-limit of P5,000 per item." so essentially, even if your jewelry is worth six figures, they will only pay you P5,000 if it gets lost, tama?

so i guess wag na lang magdala ng mamahaling jewelry.

Thanks ladies! I looked it up, I can purchase extra cover for valuable items not covered in the standard agreement but the limit is $4k.

I cannot not bring my engagement ring so I have to look into what other type of insurance I can get  :-\

I hope you keep sharing your travel insurance finds/experiences!

My mother had an unfortunate accident when we were in Sydney earlier this year, and it was a lot of money and stress calling back and forth to find out things. It didn't help na they just got the most basic insurance and they didn't read the fine print, so I had to do all the reading as I'm on a different travel insurance. She had to have surgery and was hospitalised, and ang stressful lang!

I now advice everyone -- including me! haha -- to read the small print of their travel insurance!

just wanna share

when we went to the Philippines with our 5-6 month old daughter, she had a bad flare up of eczema... the insurance covered this pre-existing condition, thank GOD, so we were able to claim all the doctors' fees and medicines we had to buy in MNL. Plus, there was a measles outbreak that time so "baka anong mangyari" but wala naman. Still, better to be safe than sorry

well worth it :)

Currently in process ang medical expense claim ko from Malayan. My eoldest son had UTI during our vacation in the U.S. last year. We had to bring him to a hospital for antibiotics. So hoping we get to reimburse full amount of what we paid. 😄
