Don't airlines have this option already when you're booking a flight?  Or is the airline version inferior and you have to avail yourself of a separate one to be sure?

^Yes they do but it's more travel related i.e. delayed flights, lost/delayed bags, etc. The travel insurance one gets from insurance companies like Blue Cross, AIG, etc. are more comprehensive. Aside from travel related incidents I mentioned earlier, they also include medical emergencies, repatriation, etc.

^I've been meaning to get one for our upcoming US trip (didn't do so the last time). Are we also covered if we're travelling on a sublo basis? Or like, let's say, blocked lang yung flt delay coverage or something like that? I'm travelling with my folks, who want me to get for myself and the kids (we're using stf tkts, they're revenue pax).

sis, there is no connection on the type of tickets you're getting. The insurance is a separate entity. The premium you will be paying will depend on the ff: destination, number of days/duration of the trip, age of the passenger and the coverage you prefer.

I always get their comprehensive coverage from flight delays, lost/delayed baggage, lost passport to medical emergencies and repatriation. Ang mahal kaya magkasakit if you are abroad. I make it a point to get a travel insurance every time I go to the US and Europe, be it on staff tickets or revenue ticket. The premium is non-issue specially kung kapalit is one's peace of mind.

Yes. I know Citibank has one. But I don't get from them kasi basic Lang yung plan nila like for flight delays, lost/late luggage, etc. I prefer kasi the full coverage including medical emergencies, repatriation, etc.

mama squeak: sa AIG, yung basic premium yata yung base plan. tama ba? it covers na nearly everything but there's optional coverage pa on top of the basic premium. tipong build your own. so medyo nalito ako. or ok na talaga yung basic premium since andun na naman flights, medical, baggage, etc? tia :)

^Sis, check mo what you really want in your travel insurance. Sa akin kasi pinaka-importante for me is the medical coverage. For example will the insurance reimburse me for medical emergencies and hanggang magkano yung coverage. Or better yet is the travel insurance acceptable/accredited at any of the hospitals at my destination para wala akong money out. Second na lang yung mga flight delays. Kasi usually if you are holding revenue tickets, the airline (I am talking of full service carriers ha not LCCs) will protect you i.e. put you in a hotel, transfer you to another flight, etc. That's a mandate of the airline.

Have you asked what the other options are on top of the basic plan?

^ thanks :) I haven't called pa eh because online ko lang tiningnan yung quote ng AIG. Blue Cross, I haven't checked and 'di ako sure ano website nila haha.

I think research muna ako but tempted ako to get the basic premium na lang ng AIG. Yung optional coverage kasi nila nakakalito. This is all Greek to me haha. Thanks again. :)

I read the coverage and benefits of each plan, but i dont think i read about the corresponding premium and if i can get a comprehensive insurance, they offer one of each kind fir the travel plan.

I tried applying, i was given two options Tripguard and Travel Annual - not much info as to what are the differences between the two. Im guessing, the latter you have to pay annually and that u are covered for all trips within that year. Im actually just interested to get one for my upcoming trip next week.

The premium rates of the insurance will depend on where you are going, how long the coverage will be and your age.

Just to give you an example, hubby and I both in our 40s will be going to the US this coming July with a 3 week travel coverage, the comprehensive insurance we'll be getting with Blue Cros is at 1.5K each. As compared to my parents both in their 60s still to the US with a 2 month travel coverage, their premium will be 3K each. Ang matindi is for my mom-in-law who's in her late 70s, still to the US at a one month travel coverage, her premium is at 14K!

If you don't get to travel often, just get the per need travel insurance. I'm guessing that would be the Tripguard. Better yet, get in touch mismo with Blue Cross or a travel agent para ma-explain sa yo ang difference.
