Metformin

I am taking this medicine along with Folic Acid for my PCOS but I am experiencing not so good side effects. Lagi akong nasusuka at stomach ache. I know that these are mild side effect of the meds. For those taking, who took this medicine, what are the side effects na naencounter niyo? Tsaka nagwork ba talaga yung meds sa inyo? Thanks.

Sis those side effects are mild and usually they go away in time. My close friend also takes this for but for her insulin resistance naman yung condition nya and similar din yung side effects...nausea and may metallic taste.
Are you taking generic sis? My friend switched to the branded one and she was able to tolerate the medicine better.

hi sis reb_woods72683: what specific brand r u taking? before i took [textspeak!] cheaper brands such as glumet ata un & i-max no side effects for me naman. Yung humamet yun yung grabe after miscarriage pinatake ako ob kasabay yung pang induce grabe feel like hell that time nagsusuka ako, nagbe-bleed & nagpo-poop grabe.

Generic lang ang tinetake ko. Check ko yung pangalan. How much ba ang branded? Nabili ko na kasi yung meds for one month eh.

^Not sure sis kasi last year pa yun...if im not mistaken 12 pesos per tablet. I forgot na rin the brand but I remember yun yung sabi ng friend ko when she first started taking metformin. Why dont you finish your stock first? Then you can see how your body is tolerating the meds

pcos din ako on my left ovary and si ob niresetahan din ako ng metformin, brand niya is neoform. i think generic brand siya coz it only cost P3.75 ata. and at first, i cannot really tolerate the nausea, vomiting and yun lbm pero i think all those side effects are normal when you're taking met. i'm on my 3rd month of met now, 3x a day, so far, nakasanayan ko na and together with duphaston, nag28 days cycle na ako. sometime i still experienced yun nausea especially kung napadami kain ko  at yun lbm which gustong-gusto ko naman kasi nag-normalize din tawag ng kalikasan ko. so far, so good.

mga 3 weeks na din ako nagtatake ng metformin for my pcos and humamet yung nireseta sa akin. nung naubos ko yung stock ko gumamit muna ako ng generic, grabe nagpimples ako! sa humamet kase wala akong nakitang side effect sa akin, yun nga lang dapat hindi nalilipasan ng gutom kung hindi, sobrang sakit ng ulo ko. swerte lang siguro kase hiyang ko yung humamet. take lang ako nito once a day.

^Sis before you were diagnosed with pcos, did you have pimples na? Kasi it can be a symptom of pcos and baka bumalik lang when you switched to generic.

Onga pala, reminder when taking metformin, wag malilipasan ng gutom...although minimal, theres still a possibility to get hypoglycemia.

ay oo nga mga sissies, isa din nag-effect sa akin yun nag-pimples ako ng sobra sa metformin, eto dry na din sila lahat. sabi ni ob lalabas daw talaga yun lalo isa yun sa nakita nya na symptom ko una pa lang pero grumabe at bumalik lang nun nag-take ako ng met. pimples, excess hair  (like bigote, sa paa, etc), overweight, etc. are one of the few signs of having pcos.

i've been metformin user, but lately while taking primolut n and metformin together, hindi ko na nafefeel [textspeak!] side effects na LBM, hence, constipation nafefeel ko.. please help...

^Probably his condition is insulin resistance sis. I'm thinking he might be pre-diabetic and along with diet and exercise, Metformin can be used to control his blood sugar.
Metformin kasi is indicated in both insulin resistance and PCOS.

tinigil ko na yung pag inom. babalik na lang ako sa OB ko this Saturday. Hindi ko talaga kaya ang side effect niya.

ako rin hindi ko kinaya side effects nito, i was taking Glucophage then.  PCOS din ako

pero after two months of taking metformin, nabuntis ako!

nope, i seldom get pimples pag magkakaron lang. yun nga din sabi ng ob ko, kaya daw ako meron pimples (i have like, 3 in my chin when i consulted her) kase sa pcos. feeling ko mas hiyang ako sa humamet, kase sinisikmura din ako aside from pimples nung nagtake ako ng generic. ngayon nawala na din nung naghumamet uli ako. tas sabi ng mga friends ko, nagloose daw ako ng weight although hindi naman nagbago yung mga kinakain ko.

metformin is for diabetes right? gamot din ito sa pcos? i wonder how much do you guys spend for your regular medicine intake?

may tita kase ako na diabetic, ang lagi nyang daing eh nasusuka sya pag umiinom ng mga meds nya, tas sinisikmura at nasusuka.. very very similar sa mga nararamdaman nyo mga sisses...

i heard some people indiscrimanately take metformin for slimming purposes..its would bad for your health.

yep, it's for my picos.i take humamet once a day, before breakfast. price range from P8.5-9 depende sa botika.
