^there are 2 outlets here in SD that i know of, one is in Carlsbad and one in Las Americas near the border to Mexico.

Do you know where I can buy cheap souvenirs like key chains and magnets within Frisco? Or should I try dollar stores? Most kasi cost 5$ each. Walang patawad officemates ko eh, gusto ng mga ganun as pasalubong aside from chocolates.

I echo shopaholic18's suggestions for outlets. If you're going to either, I suggest signing up for their VIP Shopper Club online for free so you can get a copy of their coupon book.

You can also try ROSS or Marshalls. Just look for one of their many branches. In fact, across Las Americas, you have both.

Hi guys

I just moved here sa Bay Area last april 15. 4 months akong nag try maghanap ng work. mahirap talaga makahanap ng work dito if wala kang local experience. 8 years na ako nagwowork sa Pilipinas pero natatalo ako ng mga kacompete ko sa position I applied for. For now, I am employed in the City of SFO  in a temporary position. nakaka humble talaga ng experience dito. umpisa talaga sa mababa. Tiis muna sa temp until get enough experience and until I get my pacing right. What I like about my work is that it is located mismo sa sfo city hall.

share ko lang my BART experience yesterday: I was attacked by a homeless woman inside the bart. I was in San Bruno station going to CIvic center tapos may nagaamok na babae sa loob (itim). all of a sudden, she approached me nagmumura mura  and bigla niya ako pinalo sa balikat, na shock talaga ako . until now shocked pa din ako

^ Unfortunately, the homeless situation in San Francisco is ridiculously out of hand. It's just been inherited from mayor to mayor and no one's been able to figure out how to fix it. My sister has been accosted a couple of times as well and even had her life threatened. It really takes away from the beauty of the City and it's just sad.

Most of them are mentally disturbed and really need a different level of help.

I was also attacked by a homeless guy in Powell station BART. Buti small guy lang siya, pero scary pa rin. Nakakatakot na rin tuloy mag Bart.

^ yung officemate ko nasexually harassed daw siya before kaya after that incident, di na siya nagbabart. kakadisturb na nga yung mga homeless na nagaamok.. parang regular na situation na siya dito na parating may ganong nangyayari.. last time naman sa Muni sa bus mag nagsisigaw

^oh dear that is quite scary. Did any of you report it to the authorities? Although they may only get a slap on the wrist. Hopefully the mayor would do something about it, especially if its getting out of hand.  I guess kaya din ayaw ako magcommute ng hubby ko. Dito naman, di ganun kadami homeless sa residential area, but if you go to the beach, nakakatakot na.

^i'm lucky that here in SD where we live ay hindi magulo although i get scared pag nasa ibang lugar ako within SD. never tried commuting anywhere else kasi nakakatakot, and eventhough i have a car, i'm still cautious. nasanay na ko satin sa Pinas but i'm letting my guards down little by little here in US. been living here for almost 2yrs next month and so far so good, nahhomesick minsan pero masyado na kasi kong busy sa work kasi understaffed kami puro overtime, ok lang naman more $$$ nadin and it helps with my homesickness.

Daly City. I recently moved in but I'm looking for a new place again. Too many ants and spiders in this place! And to make it worse, it's so loud at night because my window is fronting a main street.

Oh well... The search continues... Gonna be homeless in 3 weeks! Haha

Hi mga sis.... after 2 years ng LDR with hubby andito n kami ng anak ko. Nasa Hayward kami. Like sis jazzlawyer, hirap din ako makakuha ng work. 2months na kami dito. So ginrab ko un Admin post kahit part time lang.

Ingat sa mga pupunta or nasa SF, dami na namang crime even sa tourists. Last time I was there, a Canadian tourist was robbed and killed sa Golden Gate Park and a hiker sa Marin. I know it could happen anywhere pero sa dami ng homeless drug addicts and panhandlers sa SF ewan ko na lang sa correlation.

^ SF is a really safe place. Just don't mess with anyone. I suggest to avoid Market Street. That's the shady part of SF due to a lot of homeless people in the area.

A lot has changed in the Bay Area since I left 10 years ago. Market Street never used to be as bad as it is today. The homeless problem is out of hand. The last couple times I was out there, we were accosted (and followed!) by a homeless person wanting money. It pains me to see my beautiful city become tainted like this. Nevertheless, I don't think one would need to worry too badly about their safety in San Francisco. It's not like it's Detroit.

from what i've seen over the years, the downtown area of major cities are not the safest places to be in.  usually that's where the skid rows are located, where most of the homeless gather.  it only makes sense because the bus and train stations are there so it's very accessible to them.


but there's still a lot of commuters to downtown, majority of which hold city, county or  federal job.  and in the private sectors, it's been known that jobs at downtown pay more.


but that's only 1 small section of the whole scenery.  nothing beats the Cali weather year-round.  and the diversity of people,  no Pinoy can complain that they are homesick because the presence of kababayan is everywhere! 


i don't feel that Cali is any more unsafe than other places.  just avoid those places frequented by vagrants.  and as soon as you can afford a car, get one! LOL
