I think the reason why some offices work on Christmas day is it's seen as a Christian holiday and many people, especially in the US, don't really celebrate Christmas -- like my in-laws who are Buddhists -- I also have to be politically correct in greeting people and sending them cards. Instead of greeting, "Merry Christmas," I say, "Happy Holidays" and my cards also have Happy Holidays wordings on them. Who knows I might offend some whining pussies.

^Yeah, lalo na if your in a country in the middle east or some countries in southeast asia where Islam, Buddhism, etc are of the majority.  Wala talaga Christmas dun.  Though Dubai, being an open city, does celebrate Christmas to some extent.

the only thing i dont like is people from everywhere keeps on mistaking me for a korean. duh, i wish, para flawless skin and skinny bod. pero no, im pinay. lol.

nakaka-miss yung mga paborito kong pagkain na wala sa ibang bansa. yung chicken joy sa jollibee, yung polvoron at iba pang products sa goldilocks at red ribbon, yung figaro coffee (by the way, it is owned by a filipino pala! ang galing!), at shempre yung barrio fiesta restaurant.

i am working here in saudi arabia as a nurse for almost 3 months and these are what i find ugly facts.

>homesickness
>down ang social life ko. ikaw ba naman ang magshopping lang once a month.
>wearing burqa (face cover)- ok lang sa akin ang tarha (head cover) at abaya pero itong burqa nahihirapan ako. nahihirapan akong huminga!
>some Saudi men are bastos. Maybe they're thinking since it's their country they have the right na na mambastos ng ibang lahi.
>strict rules and regulations.
>and I miss pork! hehe

ugly facts i observed(and experienced):
--kapwa mo pinoy ang manloloko sa iyo.

^ true.. though hindi nangyari sa akin yan .. nangyari yan sa isa kong friend dito sa sg. haayy...

- onte lang ang catholic holidays.. (observed naman pero di ganun katulad sa pinas..) ex. Dec25 walang pasok,, tapos pag holy week yung good friday lang walang pasok.
- walang unlimited gravy sa kfc.. so sad..
- walang Jollibee. red hotdog.
- Kami lang ang maingay.. este bawal pala magingay sa hdb.. kami lang ang bukas ang ilaw pag xmas eve/new year's eve.. LOL pigil pa pagtalon namin tuwing midnight ng new year's eve.. baka magalit yung mga tao sa baba...
- stereotype na filipinos eh pang DH lang..
(actually may story ako about may friend.. Pinoy pa yung nagsabi sa kanya nito.. bale yung friend ko is a OB here in Sg, then may nagpacheckup sa kanya na girl (late teens)..hindi naman daw mukhang pinay so nag english lang siya.. then after a while tinanong siya nung girl kung filipino ba siya then she said yes.. tapos tinawag nung girl yung mom nya tapos pumasok yung mom nya sa loob nung consultation room.. tinanong nung nanay.. "aba, pinoy ka pala.. akala ko yung mga pinoy dito puro katulong lang?".. kainis diba..Tama ba naman yun..)

here in the middle east, I can't go out with my boyfriend unless a couple or another woman comes along  on our dates. no public display of affection. so far, ito lang pinaka-ayaw ko hehe! walang privacy no intimacy 

bawal magdrive ang babae...which is nakakapanghinayang kasi gas is super duper low. imagine full tank for only 20SR. roughly around P250 ONLY.

I don't have a prob with fellow Pinoys. Chismosa, mayabang yung iba but that's it. Ang epal for me talaga yung mga ibang lahi. Call me racist but some days, I really can't stand Koreans, African-Americans and Caucasians na may superiority complex. Talagang grrrr sarap pagsasabunutan. And they do go out of their way to make people feel like crap. Yes, ang Pinoy na mayabang, titiklop ka talaga sa yabang kasi may pagka-sinungaling din lol. But nothing agitates me more than the level of pambabastos that other races are capable of. And the kind of remarks they make- super racist din kaya. Last time I was at Disneyland, there are several white people na kung makapagtaray sa mga non-whites, kala mo pag-aari nila ang mundo. Inyo na, fudging rednecks. Inyo na lol.

Then again, ang taong mabait, mabait talaga kahit ano pang lahi niyan.

Ugly Fact: Bastos talaga ang ibang Arabo! Yung male patient ko, hinawakan ba naman ang puwet ko. Grrr talaga! Wala ba silang respeto sa babae? Or rather, akala nila komo't Pinay, ibang lahi mababastos na nila? Naiinis talaga ako. Gusto ko siyang sapakin that time kaso di ko nagawa kasi bansa niya ito. Sabi ng doktor ko, maski magsumbong daw ako wala din naman daw mangyayari. Siyempre yun daw ang kakampihan. Baka baliktarin pa daw ako. Sad.

Ako nung bakasyon ko sa US, nakita ko ang HS friend ko. Ang unang tanong sa akin, "anong koche dinadrive mo?" Naloka ako! hahaha!

For two months so far eto ang hate ko:
Public transpo although maganda at maayos ang transpo malalate ka sa tagal ng paghihintay at kelangan pag pumara sa bus or tram eh dapat ata e least 20 m from the stop kasi kahit malapit na at late ka pumindot,patay lampas na.

Homesickness of course.
walang solemnity ng catholic holidays.
The fact that I have to study again to qualify for work
Money issues,specially if living with a relative na may asawang puti-ang daming lihim na arrangements.
Extreme weather-hindi nga sobrang init sobrang lamig naman.
Feeling ng mga foreigner bobo ka sa english dahil sa accent pero kung tutuusin mas marami pa silang mali grammatically.

^May oras ang public transportation. What you do is get the brochure na may schedule para hindi ka maghihintay ng matagal. At ang gawin mo, pagka-andar pa lang after ng last stop bago ang bus stop mo, pumara ka na agad para hindi ka lumampas. Don't wait the last minute kung alam mo na rin lang naman na dun ka bababa. Public transpo is efficient but you have to get used to it. Living in abroad will teach you how to be organized for sure. And that's not a bad thing.

^ agree. ganito qtchick, tandaan mo yung stop before your stop. look for an establishment din or a building that you can use as a marker para maalala mo when to push the button or pull the string para 'di ka lumampas. also, most bus companies have a website where they'll show maps, routes and schedules. yung iba kasi now, they charge na for their books eh before free yun.

Ugly Facts about living abroad... walang maid!  You need to wash and iron your own clothes, put away dishes, clean the house, cook your own food unless you'll opt to dine out all the time, which is soooo expensive. Plus, I don't know if its just me but bland ang food sa US. 

I really appreciate my manangs when I tried living abroad.  Para silang naging fairy god mother sa tingin ko, hehe.   So kiss and hug your maids, sobrang blessing sila sa atin.

- Kapwa filipino sisira sayo. 

Maliit lang ang city kung nasaan ako ngayon.Nakakahiya lang sa ibang lahi kasi madalas pinoy ang involve sa  trouble.Kahit sa trabaho hindi maiwasan gumawa ng chismis tsk tsk..
