verna, everyone is entitled in their own opinion, this is what i think about living here in US. i don't need to be lectured on which is right or wrong. so let's leave it at that.

yeah, we have the right to choose our friends and we know our circle of people better than any one around here in GT. There's no perfect race....there will always be rotten apples.

ako din, parang hesitant ako makipag friends sa mga taga dito sa US. di mo kasi alam ugali. takot din ako sa mga may sakit sa utak. marami kasi tayo naririnig or napapanood mga may sira sa pag iisip taga dito. mahirap na.

^i've heard that from a link sent by a friend. grabe no, nakakahiya? grabe ang caller talaga. can't get it why she was so frustrated. it's like a matter of life and death.

sobrang i pity the agent. buti he was professional enough to do his duty and not be bothered by the foul words thrown at him.

I lived in the US for almost three years, may project c husband kaya napadpad kami dun. Well, we never dreamt na tumira sa US (siguro dati visit lang)  but fate brought us there. l meet a lot of pinays kadalasan asawa ng kano, kami lang yata ang couple na pinoy. Based sa mga kuwento ng pinays nakilala nila husband nila through chat, email , FB etc...or may nagmatch kamag anak, kaibigan. Minsan sa isang gathering
sabi ng kano, "you all filipinos want to be here in America" na para bang liability tayo dun, which i declined, sabi ko  "I love Philippines and who would help Philippines but us Filipinos".
Ugly fact: Feeling nila they own or knew the world.

Noong nasa abroad pa ako eto lang ang mga hindi ko gusto;

homesickness
Filipino food
missed familly gathering
Nandon lang ako para magwork and nothing else
Missing my friends from pinas

Now that I'm back, mas masaya na buhay ko, uu konti lang pera pero mas masaya ako kasama pamilya ko.

I agree but to not make friends with foreigners based on the assumption na baka they're sociopaths or maysakit sa utak, reeks of racism, no?

Grabe ito, nakakaawa yung agent nadamay pa sa galit ng ale sa Pilipinas. Don't you think the woman is sick?

choosing friends and making friends are different. pero hindi porket you have chosen na, idrop mo na yung ibang tao like a hot potato.Nope. doesn't work that way.

You choose kasi nakikita mo na yung qualities after knowing that person for some time.

napabarkada ako noong 1st semester 1st year, college sa "iskul bukol" types.after the first month, dumistansya ako. and i used my discernment on how to relate to them. eventually all of them got kicked out. except one and that one person dumistansya din kasi siya a few semesters later.

So i chose not to be part of their 'cutting classes' and their 'field trips' kwentuhans during class and parties the night before exams etc.

that's discernment. to know when and when not to at the right moment.

***************************************

this reminded me of the Aussie guy in a train station. mabait kausap. after a few months, i saw him talking mostly to school girls. and on a two occasions may tumakbo sa akin na girl...away from him.

napansin ko tumatambay lang sa train station yung old man para lang may makausap na school girl(s). gross noh?

lets face it. madami din kasing may topak sa western countries. one could do his daily thing in manila for a year w/o meeting one. on the other hand ang dami ko nang nameet na may sayad dito in less than a year.mahirap sa kanila hindi mo alam kelan mag snap.

yes mabait nga kausap. eh dun sa 2 dinikitan niya na school girl?

*************************

I was also able to deal with one sa Vancouver inside a train. She went emotional, kulang na lang manakit ng tao, bakit daw ang cruel ng tao sa mga plants.halos teary eyed na siya at namumula sa galit. so kinausap ko. at nakita ko yung key to "control the situation" which is to agree with her, fill her ego and keep her preoccupied with her philosophy. ayun kumalma.

ano kapalit? in words of Aquacharly---"hopia" pinagtawanan pa ako ng mga tao sa train.

isa lang sinabi ko sa kanila - "i had to talk to her or else she would have talked to you...you (other person)...or any of you! but she didn't right?? you're all off the hook because of me." e di tameme na silang lahat dahil tinaasan ko sila ng boses.

but apparently the previous poster's "discernment" on whether bipolar or maysakit sa utak yung tao is based on the fact na foreigner siya. That is not discernment. That is racism.

well, opinion lang kasi talaga etong forums, and when reading posts, we should take things with a grain of salt lagi.

at sabi nga ni Bruce Lee

"Absorb what is useful, Reject what is useless, and add what's specifically your own"

and precisely because it is a public forum, these posts are subject to scrutiny.

siguro mas obvious lang ang sayad ng mga foreigners, ang pinoy magaling magtago.  ;D

ako rin, i find it hard to be friends with foreigners. hirap kasi makarelate if you come from different cultures. di mo alam kung kelan ok or kelan nakaka-offend na and vise versa. hanggang acquaintances lang talaga sila. hindi barkada na friend type.

pano kasi sa atin, ang may tililing hindi nakakapalag. siguro ang tendency mag-tago.right after posting the post before this, nakatagpo ako ng may tililing. nasa food court kami tapos kala mo may kausap siya.
