constipation in toddlers

my daughter had bad constipation when I switched from Pediasure to GPA. Una 2-3 days for a month which is not normal na for her kasi she poo everyday talaga. I see it worst when it reached 5 days and saw how it was difficult for her to pass motion. as in super tigas. a friend suggested Benefiber which helped pero temporarily lang. we went to the pedia and she gave her laxative so parang together and benefiber+laxative but they didn't give better result.

i then tried PEDIA-LAX GUMMY FIBER I really swear by it. 3 gummies lang and after FEW minutes may urge na to pass motion daughter ko. ayun sa awa ng Diyos lumabas ang dapat lumabas.

tapos nung nag normalize na passing motion nya we stopped. nakatulong talaga sya ng sobra.

^ nag constipate sya? anong cause? dapat nga di ko na dinala si H sa pedia e. sa raffles tampines pa kami nag pacheck. the doctor wasn't that concerned, it happens daw talaga.

and what i observed with that, 3 gummies talaga. nag constipate si H sa HK kasi siguro di sya masyadong drink water, nag iba ang routine at di napagpapawisan. i give her 2 gummies lang di nag effect. tapos nung umuwi kami dito 3 na bigay ko, ayun. effortless, slide lang ng slide. hahaha.

pwede na ba ang yakult sa 1 year old? hirap din magpoop ang baby as in everyday struggle iyon sa kanya. minsan may kasama ng blood. kakapalit din namin ng milk form s26 gold to promil gold na. pero nagstart iyon nung paubos na iyong s26 tumigas na iyon poop niya. same experience din nung 6months siya nung tinry na gawing promil gold na iyong milk na tumigas din iyong poop niya kaya balik kaming s26.  anong sa tingin niyo mga sis kailangan ko bang magswitch ng milk?

my daughter drank yakult and ate yogurt at 8 months.

baka nga sa milk sis. you can't go back sa s26 kasi kulang na sa nutrients to for your child's age. try mo other brands kaya?

meron bang medicine na pwedeng ipainom sa 3yo pang soften ng poop, di nya mailabas kc matigas...

hay yan din ang prob ko sa 4y/o ko. recently, every 2 days sya mag-poop and matigas talaga kasi iiyak na yun. to the point na pinipigil nya mag-poop kasi siguro nahihirapan sya. ginamitan namin ng dulcolax suppository and naka-poop naman. pero ngayon, 3 days na di pa rin poop. minsan ayaw na nya kumain siguro kasi nagkaka-phobia na. binawasan ko rin scoop ng milk nya, nag-yakult sya and apple juice tsaka dagdag water. painom ko naman next prune juice baka mas effective

pedia can give you laxative pero kung may makita kayo ng pedialax gummy fiber, that is effective. sobra.

same problem with my son when he's still a toddler, na try ko na lahat...laxative, fiber supplements, and he even underwent the dreadful barium enema....walang nangyari!  Yakult lang nagpalambot ng poopoo nya! not to advertise or anything ...yakult everyday takes the poopoo away talaga

I have the same problem with my Kayla, 2-3 days sya before maka poop and matigas talaga..she's only 7months and 3 weeks now, start ito nung nagswitch kami sa stage 2 na milk nya, from similac to gain, hay! what will i do kaya! nakakaawa talaga!

my daughter who is now 4 yrs old has been constipated for almost a yr(on-off). meaning every 2 days, tapos minsan everyday may bowel movt, worst was 6 days. i have to bring her to the er. finally nagdecide na kami ipacheck sa gastroenterologist. ni-rectal exam sya, then xray. sa rectal exam, parang crowning daw yung "oo" niya, sa xray nakita na puno ng "oo" at kabag yung abdomen. ngayon naka-maintenance kami ng lactulose duphalac. ang aim ng doktor maka-tae ang anak ko everyday. at bumalik sa normal yung size ng rectum ba yun. [textspeak!] pla nageexpand yun so ang nangyayari hanggat di napupuno di sila tatae. so by the time na may urge na sila, ang tigas na nung bowel kaya hirap na ilabas. ang goal namin eh maging parang hotdog shaped yung "oo" niya. [textspeak!] sa kanya dati pellets lang talaga and finally pag lumabas after a day or two, ang laki!
next phase eh aayusin daw yung diet. hi-fiber,etc

if your child is not averse... malauhog na buko juice and mangoes... also, try getting them to snack on singkamas since it's in season

also, give yogurt and yogurt drinks

I think better kasi if you tweak their diet instead of relying on laxatives

also, if toddlers and preschoolers... consider giving fresh milk or just plain Nido jr. instead... they don't need the add'l expense of formula

Naku sis marge_medina, ganyang ganyan yung anak ko! Nothing serious naman ba daw? Dapat pala talaga ipa-xray ko na rin ang tummy niya. Minsan sobrang laki parang may kabag nga at ang pupu niya sometimes pellets din and soometimes one time big time sa laki!

Naku buti nalang may nakita na akong same situation sa daughter ko. Ngayon kasi regular naman pupu niya pero bilog pa rin ang normal ba eh hotdog shape?

Tagal na rin naming issue yang constipation. Since 2 years old, on and off din. Now she's turning 5 na.

my daughter has the same problem also, she's 14 months, on and off din, ok naman ang poo poo nya pag everyday cyang nag poo poo, kaya lang, parang na trauma na sa past, kaya pag minsan na na iire cya pinipigil nya, iniipit nya, at ayaw na ayaw nyang pinapakialaman ko cya kc alam nya na susundutin ko na naman ang pwet nya, pag nakalipas na ang 1 araw na d cya nag poo poo ayun tumitigas na at mahirap ng ilabas...,,nakaka awa talaga , iyak ng iyak tapos may dugo pa pag minsan poo poo ....

it was a good decision na rin na pinacheck up na talaga namin sa gastro. ang nangyayari [textspeak!] pag nakakatae siya kahit after 2 or 3 days, masaya na kami. although at the back of my mind alam kong mali.

yes sabi ng doktora hotdog shaped dapat. meron siyang chart so every time na check-up kami tatanungin niya ang anak ko kung ano na yung shape ng bowel niya. pinaggagawa rin niya kami ng diary.

i envy our sisters na nakuha na kagad sa diet yung pag regularize ng bowel nang mga kids nila. much as i want to na iayos lang ang diet niya, kailangan na din siguro talaga ng medication. it's functional constipation sabi ng doctor.
