Best places to eat at Tagaytay

The Grill Antonio's, better than Jospehine's.

Tanong ko lang, saan ba yung Antonio's resto? Naligaw ligaw na kami Nagpunta kami ng Breakfast at Antonio's hindi naman yun, so nauwi kami sa The Grill Antonio's pero happy tummy naman din.

Next time Antonio's naman.

Thinking of where to have dinner when we visit Tagaytay next month. So far my top 3 choices, based on the posts here, are Buon Giorno / Josephine's Restaurant / Antonio's Grill.

Last time I went to Tagaytay with hubby, we revisited RSM at nadisappoint kami ng bongga. Yung Bulalo, nakakainis. Masarap sana kaso tipid na tipid sa veggies at halos walang kasahog sahog. Even the marrow parang kailangan mo pang irequest na sana yung malaki laki naman. Okay sana ang ambience talaga, pero nakakadisappoint naman dahil everytime nagtatagaytay kami, bulalo talaga yung kine-crave namin.

So for bulalo, Taalena pa din ako. Maganda na view, super sulit pa yung food.

Buon Giorno is a must try! Yun lang umuulan nung pumunta kami dito ni hubby so hindi namin na-try yung Opium bed. Pero okay naman yung table na nareserve namin, corner sya so maluwag ang couch. Of course yummy ang food!

We love foodtripping at Tagaytay and madalas namin puntahan ni hubby yung Bag of Beans, Leslies, The Grill @ Antonios.

Gusto ko naman matry next time is yung Rowena's kasi before may feedback na masarap and affordable yung foods nila.

Josephine's and Bag of Beans

We spent New Year's up in Tagaytay and ate at the following restos:


Bawai's - I heard rave reviews on this place and since I love Vietnamese food, I put this on our list of dining places and made a reservation. Service was just horrible, I know they encourage you to order ahead, but since we were not familiar with the food, my ILs said to just order when we arrived. The servers advised us that each dish could serve 3-4 people, what a joke! The fish dish had 4 slices of fish measuring the length of a finger. The noodle dishes were really only good for one person. We had to order 2 additional noodle dishes and were told it would take 15 minutes to prepare. It took more than 1 hour for these last 2 bowls of noodles to arrive. My ILs were not amused. I was so embarrassed recommending the place. The bill also took forever to arrive. I can tolerate bad service if the food is exceptional, but really the food was so-so, not really authentic Vietnamese food (I've visited Hanoi and a native took me to all the hole-in-the wall restos). Also they did not have a highchair for a toddler - I guess they assume that parents wouldn't bring their kids? When we were there, there were several other kids - one had to eat out of his stroller pa. I don't understand why they wouldn't have a highchair. I would not recommend this resto to anyone nor would I return.

Antonio's - This was the one resto my ILs requested we dine at. No complaints here, the service and food were exceptional and the place was very clean and well maintained. I wish we had more meals here.

Taal Vista's Cafe Veranda - We had our NYE dinner here as all other restos I contacted weren't open for dinner. Very sad buffet spread and very expensive pa! What pissed me off was when we had our complimentary breakfast that morning I noticed that there seemed to be very limited highchairs available. I updated my reservation to reserve a highchair. Lo and behold when we went for dinner (we were the only one there really), they didn't have the highchair available! Someone was using it daw in the ballroom, so in the entire hotel, they only have one highchair. I just don't get it.

Buon Giorno - Food was disappointing. My [textspeak!] ordered the seabass and he didn't finish it. I ordered the rack of lamb medium done, it came out cooked dry. I also did not finish my dish.

Bag of Beans - We had merienda and hot cocoa/coffee in the afternooon. Apple pie and the cheesecake were good and reliable.

Fire Lake Grill - Thank goodness the food was great! Seabass was delicious, rib-eye cooked perfectly. My ILs were very happy with the foie gras. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the truffle pasta - no hint of truffle at all!

Last December, we dined at the following restos in Tagaytay:

Antonio's - we had our anniversary dinner here. Super-satisfied with the food. We ordered the rib-eye steak (serving is good for two pax, so we got two side dishes din). Kasama na ang house salad, soup and dessert sa main dish order, so I must say sulit na din for the price. Super-busog ako, I barely finished my share of the steak. To think I'm a big steak-eater. Husband wanted to order din sana the ravioli kasi favorite nya yun, pero the server advised us na baka too much na at di namin maubos. Buti we listened to him, kasi tama lang yung servings nila. Sa next visit na lang namin I-try yung ravioli. Tsaka sana available na yung spinach side dish, naubos na daw kasi when we were there.

Tootsie's - I love the ambiance,  it's like dining in a home. And the food is good din, Filipino dishes. I especially loved the crispy fried tawilis and the crispy pata. My only complaint was that it took a long time for the desserts to be served. We ordered turon halu-halo and yung mala camote cue. Masarap naman pero antagal lang talaga nung desserts. Nagkasabay-sabay daw kasi ang orders, and madami na tao at that time, so the kitchen had a bit of a hard time catching up.

Jeepney - this used to be TCB. Sa may Robinson's Summit. Same owners pa din naman (Craving's group), and they still have the unlimited coffee and cakes deal for only p200/pax. I cannot have coffee so mga kasama ko na lang nag-avail ng coffee&cake deal. Husband did not like the coffee much - parang watered-down barako daw, not like the refillable coffee in Bag of Beans na nasasarapan sya. And he loves coffee din talaga, especially if prepared the Italian way. There were four cakes included in the promo, and masasarap naman daw. So sabi nya for p200, pwede na din daw kahit di super-sarap ng coffee. As for me, I ordered a mini-cake na lang, caramel something cake, masarap naman. Another SIL ordered the carrot mini-cake and masarap din daw. Konti lang tao sa Jeepney when we were there so the pamangkins had the space to run around without disturbing people.

Josephine's is special to us kasi dito wedding reception namin kaya madalas we dine here. Will visit Tagaytay again this month and parang namiss ko naman ang Bag of Beans.
