max tuition fee: 40k per sem
Manila resident tuition: 6k per sem
Scholar tuition (if you get really good grades): 2k per sem
Both UPCM and PLM-CM, since parehong Government hospitals, talagang sariling dala/diskarte/kupit sa nurses (hehe) ng IV cannulas, syringes, and tubes during clerkship and internship
Sa budget naman kasi ng Pilipinas for Healthcare, what do you expect, right? =(
Both medical schools provide their own cadavers naman (we don't use cat/shark, Bio lang yun hehe), just bring the dissecting instruments, diagnostic sets, or whatnot. As with all med schools, I think =p
Cons: mahilig mag-kickout if you fail at least 2 major subjects ang PLM.
No mercy, as in. Your batch will be WELL shaved off in those 4 years.
I had a classmate na nasa honor roll noong undergrad nya, pero he failed Surgery, so ulit sya ng 1 year, that subject lang =(
Pros:
1. Mag-aaral ka talaga. Very good prep for the boards.
2. You get arterial extractiions galore. You'll be a sharp shooter. Dito sa PGH, they usually refer difficult blood extractions to PLM grads.
3. Once you go through OMMC clerkship, you can get through anything.
4. Public hospital training may not get you the ideal management, pero you'll get to see A LOT of cases, rare, common, or otherwise. You'll have the confidence to be on your own after grad.
5. No more payback! wooohoo! haha.
6. You'll save your parents almost 1 Million pesos. (And that is how, I was granted a car. lol.)
7. In moonlighting, hospitals prefer Government Hospital-trained physicians, kasi we can usually manage on our own. Hasang-hasa ang Clinical Eye
8. Residents will give you Intubations and such (and even your very own Major solo OR if you show your worth) sa mga Dead on Arrival.
