nga pala, any tips in regards sa pagkabisado sa human ana? nursing student ako then pero i really find difficulty in memorizing body parts.. lalo na sa neuro ana. medyo weird nga eh, i excel in physiology pero pag dating sa anatomy semplang ako haha.

any suggestive readings or exercises that may help?

^ Nice question.

What I did before was find an illustration or any drawing of the part (over the internet), print it, tape it on 1 side of my room. When I'm not doing anything or simply doing basic activities (like combing my hair, etc.) I see the illustrations again, naaalala ko yung name ng parts and kung saan sila located. The more times I looked into those illustrations/drawings, mas naaalala ko yung parts. Repetition is the key. Kapag kabisado ko na, tinatanggal ko na siya sa wall & I replace it with something else. Since nabanggit mo na rin ang Neuro Ana, 1 classic example was when we learned the Brachial Plexus. This strategy worked well for me during my PT years.

Come 1st yr Med, hindi na ako gaanong nahirapan because I still know 'em. :)

doktoras, any idea on how clerkship is at ust?   :) i'm planning kasi to take my first step MLE at clerkship since wala na yung usual na exams everyday...di ko alam kung kaya..

I know 2 years late na yung reply ko.  ;D pero I just want to advise na toxic ang clerkship since may revalida sa UST. I know some people take the 1st step USMLE pag 2nd year summer vacation or 3rd year sem break, but not during clerkship. kung di mo naman plan mag intern / boards dito sa Phils, mag MLE ka na lang after clerkship :D

anyone here who knows a contact who accepts reviews for biochemistry?

medyo hirap yung batch namin sa subject na to eh, waterloo pa naman sa boards, so were opening an avenue of private tutorial from outside professors.

Hello. Paano po kung 5 years ang pre-med course mo? What year ka magtatake ng NMAT? 5 years po kasi ang course ko, which is OT. Sabi kasi ng iba 3rd year daw, pero doesn't that apply only to 4 year courses? thanks :)

^ take mo ng 4th year kung plan mo mag med right after graduating. good for 2 years lang kasi yung NMAT. after 2 years at di ka pa nagmed, magttake ka ulit ng NMAT.

Thanks! I really want to take medicine. Naeexcite na nga po ako magkaroon ng major subjects eh. Pero whenever I read stories about med school, kinakabahan ako.

If you're really excited about going into medical school, huwag ka magpapaapekto sa mga nababasa or naririnig mo. It will test you kung desidido ka, or hindi.

Anxiety will be there before you get into Med. But once you start med school, mawawala na yung kaba mo. :)

Thanks Ate. :) BTW, I saw your posts sa thomasian thread. Did you pursue med in UST? Kamusta naman po med doon? Nagoobserve na rin ba kayo sa hospital ng mga like, operation before internship? Or puro classroom discussion lang? Ayun din po kasi kinoconsider ko in choosing a med school eh. Yung type of training. THanks :D

Thanks po. :) Sanay naman na ako sa lack of sleep. Where did you study medicine po? :) And how was the training in your school po? Puro theoreticals ba or you get to chance to observe sa hospitals? Thanks :D

Yes I studied med at UST. No complaints about their teaching there, good facilities. The downside is mahal ang tuition.

Yes we do observe actual diagnostic & ancillary procedures, observe &/or assist in surgeries (both minor & major) in the training hospital during clerkship/4th yr medicine, aside from the history taking-physical exam skills (which starts during 2nd year). There are lots of case conferences, reportings. Lesser to halos wala nang classroom discussions.

Okay. So parang you get to have duties na before internship? Halos wala nang classroom discussions? Meaning you spend most of your time in teaching hospitals as early as what year? And wait, question. Are you all limited to UST hospital? Ang dami po kasing UST med students eh. Or rotation din ba sa iba't ibang hospitals? Sorry po ang daming questions. Thanks! :)

During our clerkship days, yes my duties na kami & 24hours iyun. Wala ng mga formal lectures. Kung nasa classroom man kami, it's because of conferences, case discussions, etc. You spend most of your time in teaching hospitals starting clerkship. Majority of rotations are at STUH kasi halos kumpleto naman ng specialties dun. Konti lang ang outside rotations, mostly they are meant for additional exposures like Fabella Hosp for OB, San Lazaro Hosp for Infectious Diseases, Sapang Palay, Bulacan for Community Med. My rotation kami nun sa PNP-Camp Crame for Legal Med, I don't know kung meron pa rin hanggang ngayon.
