@camz_31- as what have doc bleudskymd said, isipin mo ng 100x kung gusto mo talaga mag medicine it is not an easy task. ako months ko talaga sya pinag isipan and i am happy that i made the right choice. goodluck :)

@doc bleudskymd- dami po sigurong med school memories na masarap balik balikan :) sabi ko nga po sa friend ko, gusto ko gumawa ng indie movie about sa batch namin at kung ano talaga ang buhay sa makulay na med school :)

^ yup. both good and bad times. i wanted to write in my blog about my med school memories kaya lang it mean going way back 2002 (tagal na 'ata nun. haha!) until 2006 (ok, isama na natin ang internship until board exams). probably i'll do it in the near future pero hindi pa sa ngayon. medyo toxic ako sa residency. hehe!

Just thought I'd take a peek at the 2nd thread.  Currently a PGY2 here in the US, if anyone needs help with the MLEs I'd be glad to try and help out :)

@ lil_mango: thanks! i'm graduating from my residency on dec. hindi ko pa alam kung ano gagawin ko afterwards.

mga sis, saan po ok mag internship?

before i wanted to go to PGH pero sabi nila clerk 2 daw dun... i would like to go to a hospital where i would really learn how to become a doctor (especially in terms of decision making)...yung maraming learnings...and at the same time, yung kaya namang i-handle yung katoxican. I'm a clerk at UST now and i don't know if I will stay here or not (since I'm already familiar with the system)..i'm planning to take up USMLE afterwards... :D

my choices are UST, DOH, Chinese General and Cardinal..what are the pros and cons in each hospitaL? or if you have any other suggestions...please do...thanks! :)

@ veeyaa006 - deja vu for me. i also started to gain weight during my review for the boards then nagtuloy-tuloy na sya. i thought residency will help me lose weight but that didn't happen for me (rtds left & right, and eating was my way of comfort after being "boljack-ed" by my superiors back then). hehe! perhaps going to the gym or jogging around may be a good way to lose those adipose tissues. goodluck nga pala sa inyo! :)

@ simplybeautiful - if you want more learnings, perhaps it will be appropriate for you to have your internship at a training hospital (i.e. PGH, STUH) since you want to hone your skills more in the aspect of clinical decision making. but be cautious that you still need the guidance/approval of your superiors in this aspect because you are not yet a licensed physician. this is especially true if you prefer to go to a private hospital. whether you go to a public or private hospital, you are still expected to do a good & concise history taking & PE. i can narrate to you many stories of previous mistakes done by our past interns (p.s. i was previously an interns' monitor) na nareprimand ang resident/s because of their inappropriate decision makings. goodluck!

i went to a private hospital for internship. sorry i don't know anything about the internship program of the hospitals you've mentioned. if u really want to learn, panindigan ninyo. hindi yung pagsabihan lang ng konti, magqu-quit na. i have accepted the fact na konti na lang talaga ang nagdo-doktor ngayon. kaya konti lang ang pumapasok for internship. expected na toxic ang workload nyo kasi konti na lang kayo. yun lang.

Eto getting used to supervising the med students. It's different here, med students are actually treated in a 'humane' way  and are pampered.  They go home before anybody else does, you cover for them when they have didactics (which are often),  they get a *lot* of supervision,  they don't have to carry a lot of patients etc... Unlike back home, I feel it's too hierarchial.

^ hi. i can relate to you. we also handle clerks where i train. they're very different now but i pity them because konti lang ang clinical exposure nila sa amin. i guess the "hierarchical" system we went through before, has an advantage. hehe!

hello mga doctor sisses, baka pwede naman kayo magrecommend ng magandang stethoscope tsaka kung saan siya pwede mabili. gusto ko sana ng littmann kahit yung classic lang (or kung may ibang brand kayo na mairerecommend pwede rin), kaya lang hindi ko alam kung original ba lahat yung mga nasa bambang. ill use it lang naman for physical assessment and VS. thank you thank you!

^ i can only recommend littman stethoscope classic. authentic naman yung mga binebenta sa bambang. as far as i remember, my warranty naman ang mga yun. before purchasing though, check the quality of the steth & make sure it's never been used.

goodluck to you!
