What vitamins/supplements do you give your dogs?

Meron din akong picky eater na shih tzu before ginawa ko BARF diet ko sya ayun hindi na picky eater. Pero ngayon napansin ko once na nakatikim sila ng human food nag iinarte na naman.

I also tried raw feeding to my shih tzu dahil tamilmil talaga pagdating sa pagkain tong alaga ko, talagang gustong gusto ng mga dogs ito un lang ay messy lalo na't mahaba ang hair ng tzu ko. Have to wash his face after every meal then blow dry it, twice ang feeding so twice a day din ang paglinis ko sa kanya. Di ko kinaya, uminit lang ulo ko tinatakbuhan nya pa ako pag cleaning time na, pati bahay nanlagkit at naging malansa! He has a habit kasi na dinadala nya sa isang area yung raw chicken para dun kainin, sobrang messy nito at napapagalitan lang ako.  Pero kung ako tatanungin, raw diet talaga ang gusto ko para sa kanila pero nagkaroon na rin kasi ng issue sa bulldog ko before when he's on a raw diet. Nagka-pus yung wiwi nya, I think di nya kaya ang too much protein since di naman sya active, tulog lang ng tulog un. Ngayon yung tzu may halong meat and veggies ang food nya para kumain sya magisa, pag pure Canidae kasi ayaw nya, susubuan ko pa un isa-isa.

I also tried LC Vit pero parang no effect sa kanya, yung bulldog ko naman nagkaallergy dun. VCO is a nice supplement kaso messy din. Then sometimes I apply it on their coat before bathing them.

VCO is not advisable to be given orally sa dogs even sa humans, it can cause fatty liver.

talaga? ngayon ko lang narinig ito. akala ko sobrang ganda ng vco at wala syang bad effects, search ko nga yan sa net. Thanks for the info!

I've heard about the vit. e pero yung vco ngayon lang talaga. Diba organic naman ang vco, it has lower or no cholesterol pa ata, no trans fat, speeds up the metabolism and very beneficial for the skin, heart, kidney, liver, etc. because healthy fat yung nakukuha dito, parang "the cure for everything" pa nga ang tawag dito hehe. Been researching on this for years since nagkaroon ng skin issues yung bulldog ko, and based from the pet owners that I've talked to, and the articles that I've read, vco works like magic and wala rin silang nasabing side effects na grabe aside from having an LBM pag nasobrahan Hinahanap ko talaga yung effect nya sa liver pero di ko makita sa net, paano daw sya nakakaaffect sa liver if I may ask?

^ pure oil padin kasi yan eh, it does have benefits, but its been in the news before, nung nadiscover nila na it was the culprit of why some people who took it orally developed fatty liver.

pure oil in large amounts cant be digested kasi and ang primary storage nyan is the liver, since fat soluble sya, it gets excreted in a much slower rate than water soluble stuff kaya mas may tendency to accumulate in the body, and since purong oil nga sya, sa liver ang bagsak nya.

para sakin its better to be cautious lang, its short term vs. long term effects na eh, madamidaming amount din kasi per dose ang VCO. kahit purely organic pa sya, since its still a form of fat, it needs to be taken in moderation. ang alam kong healthiest na oil lang na pwede itake orally is olive oil, but needs to be taken in moderation as well.

Vco is indeed an oil or fat as others might call it (oil-liquid, fat-solid ) but we should look beyond that and investigate further regarding its components. Based on the current studies that I've read, although VCO is a saturated fat, it is a unique and healthy type of saturated fat, because the fatty acids here are mainly medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), they are are not harmful to the body since they are shorter than the long-chain triglycerides common in other fats and oils. Regarding olive oil, there has been studies that once heated, it loses many of its benefits, and can even damage cells because of its chemical structure, unlike VCO that retains it's nutritional qualities and benefits even at very high temperatures. I think both are good oils, depending on how you will use it. If taken orally they could be really beneficial, but once you use it with cooking, dyan na magkakaron ng difference. There has been issues regarding coconuts before (that it can make you fat haha!) that's why siguro may mga opposing views na lumalabas. But since the birth of the new studies, parang wala na ata masyadong lumabas na bad news about it, mostly positive feedbacks na. Kelan ba yung news about people developing fatty liver, recent lang ba iyan? Baka naman there are other factors that contributed to it? Like their liver has problems na before they took VCO? May nasabi ba sila? Kasi kung pure VCO ang culprit contradicting nga iyan sa mga recent studies about VCO since ang claim nila is safe ang VCO even if taken in large amounts since the body transforms it immediately into energy and actually help liver problems.

With regards to long-term effects naman, honestly, I feel much safer with natural/organic products over synthetic ones, at least kay mother nature galing diba?

our vet recommended enervon-c syrup for our corgi, i just bought a small bottle yesterday and gave it to him for the first time last night, no sweat hehe i fed it to him using a plastic spoon and he licked it off clean, he loved the taste  i'll see if it's good for him, picky eater kasi sya so I feel he needs supplement, gusto ko tumaba ....

    to each his own. thats why i said "i dont advise" giving vco because its something i dont and wouldnt give to my dogs as well. just shared what i know about VCO. (^_^)

im kinda cautious lang with supplements that are fat-soluble. lalo na since vco is given orally ng medyo large amounts pa, may mga supplements kasi na years after saka nadidiscover na merong effect na hindi maganda, pero I swear i saw that sa isang show, if not sa news na merong cases ng fatty liver na ang isang kinoconsider na culprit is VCO supplementation.

I could use VCO prolly but topical lang, not oral administration.

VCO even helped Magic Johnson dealing with HIV. I used VCO for my digestion problem. not sure lang kung pwede sa dogs taken orally. ang alam ko kasi ang omega 3 oil ang kailagan nila.

it MIGHT work especially for humans but dogs are significantly smaller than humans kasi and iba naman ang digestive system nila, kaya im saying take it with precaution kasi kahit naturally derived pa sya, its still pure oil which CAN be stored in the liver when given in large amounts.

and please be reminded that these supplements are not formulated to cure anything, they are just merely, supplements hence the disclaimer : no approved therapeutic claims, meaning, they have not been proven to cure anything yet, they can prolly aid in certain ailments but they cant really cure per se.

ay i came across an article pala before on which kind of VCO ang mas okay, yung heat pressed or cold pressed, im not sure which of the two ang okay and kung ano ang difference between the two other than the process of how they were made lol!

Omega 3 oil i agree na need talaga ng dogs, few IUs lang naman ang dosage so okay lang sya, ang VCO kasi kelangan ilang mls talaga per dosage.

i still believe theres no harm in being cautious. ^_^ especially rampant ang cases ng dogs with calculi and fatty liver nowadays dahil narin sa food intake nila.

which reminds me of formaldehyde-filled bottles with yung mga stones na nakuha ng vet ng dogs ko sa ibang patients nila there, nakakaloka, yung ibang stones spikey spikey pa, im gonna take a picture of those pag visit ulit namin, naka-display kasi sa isang shelf sa ER nila yun. kaka-praning tuloy haha!

i used VCO for my dog's rash.  inaapply ko sya, and nagheal yung rash nya without her taking antibiotics or other meds.  pinagtake ko din sya ng VCO pero I stopped na when her rash disappeared.  I want to do more research muna before I continue.  Pero she loves her VCO. wala pang added flavor yun.

@babyjapnurse  -  I tried to look for coco nectar sa carica like you said pero wala daw sila.  Where pa kaya yun pwede bilhin?

question lang, is it safe to give regular vit c sa dog? ano brand gamit nyo?

sis, a vet recommended ceelin to my dog though hindi nagustuhan yung lasa so hindi na namin nagagamit.

From what i have learned dogs produce their own vitamin c in their body unlike humans.

^ i saw an article that says the same thing too. they can use trace minerals daw to produce their
own Vitamin C. i stopped giving them extra doses of it nung nabasa ko that article, kaso naalala ko
yung mga vet na kilala ko doesnt give alerts naman na mag-stop mag administer ng vitc sa dogs
kaya medyo 50/50 padin ako dun sa article. but for the meantime, i dont give them vitc supplement
muna, im fine na with clusivol syrup, virbac, oxyfresh, coco nectar and calcium.

That's why they don't get colds like humans. Kaya napapaisip ako pagsinasabing sinisipon ang mga aso. Ang alam ko they only get sick dahil sa infections.
