Amazon Kindle

Kindle is now price at $189 right now. They're having a price war with Nook. Nook with only wifi cost $149, while the original Nook 3G and wifi cost $199.

^The pictures in an eInk screens are only viewable in black/gray/white colors. It's not a colored screen. eInk looks like a paperback book. I can read the Graphic Novel of Twilight on my EZ Reader which has a 5" screen. But the text will be extra2x small. It's in .pdf format. If you want to see the full impact of the photos you photoshop, it's better to get an iPad.

I love my Kindle DX.  All my PDF ebooks are in it so during lectures I don't need to bring my net book, I just whip out my DX and voila!  It can play mp3s on the background and surf the web which are nice t have in an ebook reader The E Ink display is easier on both the eyes as well as battery life vs backlit displays.  The Kindle books are a little bit cheaper too than the regular print books at Amazon too, sweet deal.

^sis xthine, that's why I highlight before in my post on top. Reply#18. Because before you can't sideload ebooks you buy from other ebookstores. From allromancebooks.com, booksonboard (I think even now it still can't sideload your ebooks unless what you bought from BOB is non-DRM'd books, at least Nook can), fictionwise (same as BOB only those non-DRM mobi can be sideload). If you buy from these ebookstores esp if they're giving you a special discount of the books and you want to read it in your Kindle you can't. Unless you took out the DRM which is a pain in the butt (for me at least) to do. I buy ebooks from these website I mention (those that cost only .99 cents-$5 ebooks). With my Astak, it loads my ebooks thru ADE for my DRM'd books. The non DRM ebooks can just be drag and drop. If you have nonDRM books its good in the Kindle. It will be loaded, those non DRM formats should be like mobi/prc, t xt, pdf. It will also load HTML and DOC if Kindle will convert thru email (which you have to pay $.15cents per MB) but if your HTML and DOC formats are nonDRM'd you can just use Calibre to convert it to a format that are Kindle friendly which is .mobi/prc formats and load it to your Kindle without paying that $.15 per Megabit conversion.

So that's what I meant by being a CLOSE PRODUCT. Though there's a workaround, taking the DRM out of the ebooks you bought.

By the way, sis xthine. I love the new Kindle DXG (the latest generation) Graphite, Pearl eInk screen. As in, in love ako sa screen ng new Kindle DXG. Super crisp, clear and very dark text. It's just too big for me, 9.7" screen. I like it to be portable like 5" or 6" screen. Maybe they'll make one. I might buy, a big MIGHT. I just super LOVE the screen.

Oh another thing, Kindle doesn't read ePub format. Which is the most open format and widely use nowadays. Sony which uses LRF/BBeB format change over to ePubs nga, Nook already is reading ePub format too.

Kindle is releasing a $139 Kindle Wifi on August. I already pre-ordered so I'm so excited.

^I'm excited with that too, I soooo LOVE their new Pearl e-Ink screen. And the price $139 for wifi only and $189 for wifi and 3G is very, very attractive.....

I'm tempted to get one, and the look is pleasing to the eyes compare to the 1st gen Kindle.

I ordered the 3rd Gen Kindle at USD189... the small size is what got me.. easy to read, easy to bring to bed or anywhere.....  easy on the eyes,  read anywhere...hehe
     Grrr!   The unit will be delivered to my US address sometime in Sept. pa!  But I will be in the US only for a week.. starting next week.   hay buhay... how to get hold of it agad?   ka gigil

Meroon sa malls. I saw one in megamall, meron din sa parksquare. pero grabe, ang mahal!!! what you can get from amazon website for P10,000, they sell for P25,000. Yung kindle dx graphite nila, P38,000, ewan ko bakit may nabobola pang bumili sa malls grabe ang patong.

Ang gagaling nyo ah!  I ordered too direct about  3 weeks ago... and I will get it sometime in Sept. per the response.  I had it delivered to my US address.

I almost bought Kindle 3 yesterday....Have to hold off muna. I have a deadline late sept or early nov if wala pang ibang ebook readers sporting the new Pearl e-Ink screen, I'll buy the Kindle 3.  Kahit it reads not a whole lot of formats and can't borrow ebooks from library okay nalang... I'll make do basta may Pearl e-Ink screen. He he

Well, I finally bought mine. Kindle 3 (wifi+3G version) on Sept 11 with a Kindle lighted book cover. Have an estimated arrival date for K3 on Sept. 21-25 and for the lighted cover on Sept. 16-21. Wishing they'll both arrived on the same day on the 21st of Sept.

We'll see how well it works. I want it bec of the Pearl e-Ink screen.

It has a basic web browser which allows you to go to any website, not just amazon.

Recently found out that they've released games for the Kindle.  Downloaded 2 word games, pretty neat.  No spiffy graphics or audio, very straightforward and stable.
