^^use porcelain granite tiles in beige or travertine.  Check Wilcon Builders, Home Depot, MC Home Depot, Decimal Merchandising, Floor Center, Tile Gallery, Metro Tiles Inc and Felport International.

If you want to be bold, use black tiles.  If you want to be on the contemporary side, use gray tiles.

Hello mga sis! Tanong ko lang what are the different materials used in counter tops aside from granite and tiles. What material ba use ng mga gumagawa ng modular kitchens. TIA!

Nag start pa lang ako mag-inquire for our house construction especially kitchen, though di pa start ang construction kasi manganganak pa ako
Sige, I will contact you if kaya pa ng budget hehe. Kakabahan kami sa gastos kasi small budget lang house namin pero gusto namin na elegant pa din even in a small budget. Pag maganda kasi ang kitchen, parang nakakaganda ng house hehe At saka maliit lang naman yung kitchen ko 3mx2m lang. I can't decide yung strategic loation ng stove, sink, and ref plus mini breakfast nook.

Ganda kasi ng design ng mga modular kitchen cabinets, pero i'm worried sa quality ng wood na gagamitin. Gusto namin yung anay-free para naman long-lasting talaga. Sa totoo lang, I still don't have any idea sa mga modular cabinets, nakikita ko lang sya sa mga malls and home depot.

^sis actually same lang yun ng synthetic granite,generic name lang ang solid surface...it can be synthetic granite or synthetic marble..ang advantages nito maraming choices like yung colors nya unlike granite kung [textspeak!] lang maproduce ni mother nature yun na, and seamless siya kasi synthetic nga.....pero sis may mga disadvantage din to...like di ka daw pwedeng magpatong ng mainit etc etc. mas cheaper ang solid surface from natural granite pero depende daw sa manufacturer...try mo sis humingi ng advice sa mga may ganitong countertops kung pang heavy duty talaga.kasi ang reklamo dito di siya scratch proof, pero may pangtangal naman nun..

^^synthetic granite is the same with solid surface countertop. solid surface countertop (SSC) is synthetic kasi made of acrylic or polyester resins.

as far as i know, mas mahal ang SSC compared sa granite. may pros and cons:
With granite:
- it is porous so stain can be an issue if you don't maintain it properly (supplier usually apply top coats for protection). the more porous a material is, the higher the risk of bacteria contamination (this goes with ceramic tiles that's why most designers/architects prefer porcelain tiles than ordinary ceramic tiles).
- you can see the "joint" of the two slabs (and the sealant).
- if the granite cracks or chip, it is irreparable. you have to replace the whole slab.
- can withstand direct heat.
- one slab can be different from the other. common to all natural stones.

With SSC:
- joints cannot be seen. they buff it until you can no longer see the connection between slabs (seamless).
- it is nonporous.
- it is homogeneous (uniformity between slabs).
- if they crack or chip, you can replace that particular area/spot only. they cut and buff it and it's good as new!
- cannot withstand direct heat, possibility of melting and discoloration.

you can also use quartz countertop, more expensive than granite and SSC. it is a combination of natural stone and resin. it is less porous and harder than granite.

^Yes ang alam ko din mas mahal black kesa sa other colors, even ata white mahal. Pero ang ganda ng white countertop sa kitchen

Now, I now the difference as well as the advantages and disadvantages of these materials.
I willl take note of those.   

Gusto ko nga din sana ang white kasi dark brown ang gusto kong color ng mga cabinets ko kaso mo baka manilaw in the future.

yung SSC if i'm not mistaken pinaka mura niya is 1500/sq.ft ata depende pa sa design...
pero i think may china na ata nito not sure lang with the price & the quality...

most modular kitchen cabinets use laminated plywood lang sis. not really matibay in the long run unlike marine plywood.

I need advice. A dining set is not really important to me that's why I don't want to invest in a dining set alone. Gusto ko sana multi-purpose siya. I found one sa Ikea na foldable, pag naka-fold I can use it as a study table then pag may bisita, nabubuksan siya into a big table but my problem sis, I already have a study table so magiging useless din yung dining table na yun haha So ok lang kaya na coffee table nalang gagamitin ko as dining table? I'll buy floor pillows nalang para pag may visitor dun nalang kumain or ano.
