^^naku sis, he's adjusting pa rin but this time he's more aware of what to eat, when to eat and how much of eating is allowed. Minsan nagpapaalam pa yan if it's ok na kainin certain kind of food. we've got no problem on his hypertension since blood pressure has been stable from the day we went out of the hospital. blood sugar na lang talaga monitor namin everyday.

^bawal din pala kay hubby mo pork and beef? so chicken and fish and veggies lang talaga.. sa amin naman, we're allowing him to eat pork at least once a week pero syempre puro laman lang or yung buto-buto na. same with beef (bulalo pa nga e) but with certain amount lang and as in like once a month lang. we've got no problems with him eating veggies and fish whether that be sinabawan or fried..

^Very good naman si dad. The fat can be easily removed, whereas sa beef, nasa marbling yung fats. Lean pork is just as tasteless as chicken breast without skin anyway! Haha.

^^Sis, I was at my veranda when I created my username years ago - hence, viewfromyveranda  ;D You can still make the usually dishes using healthier meat cuts and diabetic friendly condiments. The key is being comfortable reading nutripanels.

Ito, some alternatives:

Pancakes - use wholewheat pancakes instead. May local na ngayon, Maya brand.
Sugar - use coco sugar, muscovado, agave, stevia, etc.
Chocolates - Rustan's has loads! Some good ones I tried are Guylian and Valor
Ice Cream - Arce, Magnolia, FIC have sugar free variants
Dessert - sugar free Jello does the job!
Cookies - I have a kick ass recipe for no sugar, no flour cookies.  :D
Bread - walter has sugar free whole wheat bread, pan de manila sa no sugar added whole wheat too

BUT, not because sugar free, pwede ng unlimited portions. He still has to follow the carb exchanges as indicated in his diet plan.

I guess what I'm saying is, do not make him feel deprived. Nakaka lungkot yun noh! Hahaha.

^ay talaga sis? hehe! minsan lang naman kami mag-bulalo. the last time na nagbulalo kami was last month pa. hehe!

nakakatuwa nga siya kasi nagpapaalam pa like kaninang umaga. nagpaalam if pwede siya kumain ng 2 pandesal.

I guess that's true na don't make them feel deprived kasi that's the more time na nagke-crave and mas kumakain ng bawal.

we just found out that my husband is diabetic and with high blood pressure and cholesterol at the age of 27. nakakalungkot. he still has to undergo some tests like insulin assay aside from the cbc, fbs, hba1c, urinalysis, creatinine, lipid profile, and ecg. he also has to follow strict diet kaya lang hindi pa kami nakakapunta sa dietician kaya search lang muna ako dito sa net. where can i buy po home glucose test equipment and how much? thanks.

i found out early year this year that i was diabetic. Im in my mid20s. Nung una akala ng mom ko some other metabolic syndrome kaya im not losing weight, then i went to an endo. It was really helpful, i would recommend that if you suspect to be diabetic, go see a doctor. This completely changed my life, ialmost stopped drinking, decided to take the healthy route of living. It is a lifestyle disease so it can be prevented but bad eating habits, sedentary lifestyle plus genetics, then you increase the risk factors. The sooner you find out your condition, the better. I try to eat everyting in moderation. Friend ko parin ang carbs, but i eat healthily. Sad to say there is no cure for diabetes, but you can prevent it. Once you have it, you just have to be careful of your blood sugar levels and of course other complications. This runs in our family and it is a serious disease, i remember my relatives being amputated, etc... So foot care is also very very important. When i found out nga, i cried bcos how unfortunate naman that i have it... But i should be thankful that i found out early on... So i can manage it effectively.

my husband regularly visits an endo now. actually, next month, check-up uli niya para i-prepare siya ni endo sa Christmas season. hopefully, maging ok ang results ng mga lab tests na ipapagawa niya before the check-up.

Too bad to have an early diabetes ... but please DO NOT WORRY coz you are not alone. Hereditary and most cases ng diabetes and I'm sure magkakaroon din ako nito. If you think nagrurun sa family nyo and diabetes then you should go to doctor on a yearly check up.

I can recommend to you dra. estrelita lopez, endocrinologist, magna cumlaude of UST and author of DIABET SWEET that you can also purchase it in national bookstore.

Magaling na doctor si dra. lopez - she will give you a lot of advises for sure. -  Just maintain your medicine and main your eating habit - magiging OK po kayo .. so please do not worry po.

1st baby pa naman namin yun at natatakot akong maulit ulit yun if mag buntis ulit ako.

Yung friend ko (I met her through my best friend), she went to US to work, don siya nagkaron ng diabetes, lifestyle - matakaw sa juice, softdrinks, laki kc ng servings don di ba. When she went back here sa pinas kasi di na siya pede mag-caregiver dahil mas mukhang siya pa ang aalagaan don, as in, she's just 29yo but she looked older than my mom, and hindi na rin siya makakita halos. My bestfriend gave her a multivitamins, pinainom sa kanya, and minomonitor nila blood sugar niya, 3x a day niya take yung nutritional supplement, then in just 3days, her blood sugar level dropped to the required level para makapagpa-laser siya ng eyes. Kaya ako, yun na rin nirerecommend ko sa family members ko na may diabetes, kasi my granda, and uncles are suffering from it also.

After 3 months of taking my diabetes meds so far bumaba na blood sugar ko. Nakakatulong din talaga kung may support system. Si hubby kasi taga monitor ng meds and food intake.

Ano symptoms nyo when you first had it? Ako kasi numb yung upper right thigh ko for one week na. I've tried taking B complex pero wala pa din effect so my doctor asked me to get an FBS.

Just got the results of my FBS - 4.6 mmol/L. According to the internet normal level naman sya. I'm only 22, hindi ko yata kaya if diabetes na 'to. :(

^^ normal yung fbs. i hope na-screen din ang hba1c if you're being suspected of having DM.

Hi, using hbaic as a diagnostic criteria is still controversial. I suggest doing an oral glucose challenge test and hbaic so that your doctor can stratify whether you are diabetic, pre-diabetic or normal.
The discoloration on the feet is called venous stasis which is very common among diabetics. In some cases, the discoloration will disappear. Treat the underlying cause, anti-thrombotics can also help.

I haven't gone to him myself and I have no diabetes, but a friend of mine went to him a few years ago kasi masyadong mataas ang blood sugar nya and she was then urgently in need of hysterectomy.

He gave her herbs to drink, the blood sugar went down, and the operation went on without a hitch. Grabeng laki lang naman ng myoma nya.

Just look up the health thread on Dr. Tan in this forum because there's more info there.
