hi. i'm 32 years old and a diabetic. i was diagnosed with diabetes when i was 20 yrs. old. started with an eye problem and after more test, it was confirmed. i started with oral medications. glibenclamide and metformin. i got pregnant when i was 30, oral medications (anti-diabetic drugs) are not allowed during pregnancy so my ob referred me to an internist and an endocrinologist. i immediately shifted to insulin. i injected it through my tummy. so every other week i visited my endocrinologist and we talk about diets and my daily check of blood sugar. after i gave birth, i decided to continue using insulin. btw, my endocrinolist was dra. lanciong ang of polymedic hospital.

hi sisses!
I'm new here. I haven't been checked for diabetes yet but i want to get checked.
Kasi i'm always nawiwiwi everytime na umiinom ako ng madaming water.
I don't know if it's stress lang. kasi even before i am like this.
Had my urinalysis done almost a month ago when i began experiencing this, saw UTI but negative naman sa sugar.  Kind of worried coz there's family history of DM. what tests should be done just to be sure.
I have endometriosis and adenomyosis not pcos and was injected luprolex. thought these were side effects of the pseudo-menopause thing effect of the injection.
Please help. Thanks!

Hi. I'm glad to have found this thread. We had our annual physical exam at work yesterday, and today I got an email from our clinic nurse to get my lab results. I was recommended to undergo FBS. Tapos on the paper it mentioned pa: T/C DM. Diabetes mellitus kaya ito?

^Yup that means Diabetes Mellitus.

Your urine was probably found to have sugar in it.

do you have any idea girls if coconut oil is good or bad for diabetic? My dad is a diabetic and I'm having problems trying to control the blood sugar. Pa-chamba chamba ko lang kasi na nakukuha yung blood sugar level target niya.

^Sis there are a lot of articles on the net that say it is beneficial for diabetics. HOWEVER, my endoc always tells me that for diabetics, what holds true for one may not be as effective for another. Suggest you try it with him, and say after an hour after, immediately take his glucose reading. Do this for at least 3 days. That's what I was instructed to do whenever I'm trying new supplements or, hehe, supposed to be "healthier food". :) Like for instance, my sugar levels spike up after having rice -- compared to bread -- same serving size yan ha. Other naman reverse.

^Oh did you mean for cooking? Canola and olive oil are okay. There are some kasi who actually take virgin coconut oil straight up. That's supposed to have therapeutic effects. Pero for cooking stick to canola, soya or olive oil. Best is to use a non-stick pan or an oil spray.

^Sis may locally packed na canola oil. And it will come out cheap if you use a little -- and for diabetics, you can only use naman talaga 2tbs max per cooking.  ;) Kaya mo yan.

^Nako sis sobrang ingat talaga dapat. Try checking out sugar free option na chocolates. Dami na! My favorite is Guylian na sugar free (dark or milk chocolate). Minsan meron sa Rustan's grocery or Candy Corner. It's expensive but mas mahal mag maintenance drugs! :-) And As early as now, remove all the white sugars/flours. Yung white rice to brown rice super hirap!!!!

Hi. My dad is recently diagnosed of Diabetes. I'm a little worried kasi matanda na din siya he will turn 60 next year.

^Sis his endoc should tell him his glucose targets...and dapat he should see a dietician (usually the endoc can refer one) or perhaps attend a "diabetics diet" seminar. at least that's what i did in makati med. basically, the diet of a diabetic should be low carb, high fiber. and depends if he has other conditions pa if he needs to be absolutely conscious of his cholesterol. well sabagay, kahit walang condition, dapat lahat in moderation. that will help him prepare for his new diet. he has to get a glucose monitor for regular checking of glucose levels.
