hi sis kikayako, i guess if you buy SSP sa isang shop na may pwesto talaga baka authentic pa.
May teeth test sa pearls un parang ngangatngatin mo.. i will try my best to describe, un ipin mo ikaskas sa pearl.. kase if plastic sya or coated.. matatangal un.. if real pearl naman e walang mangyayari.. kaso pano lang magagawa un ganon sa harap ng tindera sa greenhills...

Sis, one thing na pwede gawin is wag sa teeth ikaskas, sa kapwa pearl din nya! get two pearls then pag kuskusin mo sila ng bongga. if its real, parang magkakaron sya ng sort of powdery thing dun sa pinagkaskasan nya (itsurang nagasgas or nakayod). If tunay sya, you should be able to wipe it off na parang walang nangyari sa pearl. pag fake, magbabakbak sya then mareretain yung gasgas or damage. try nyo muna sa bahay. syempre wag naman sobrang kuskos baka magalit yung tindera. pag nagpowdery na sya and kita nyo ng may mark yung powder ok na un!

Hi everyone! This may be a very stupid question. I tried to research on it but couldn't find any answer.

Can a mother of pearl, produce more pearls after they are harvested?

Why do I ask this? My grandmother and now my mother swears that the mother of pearls (the actual lips of the "dead" oysters) that they have produce tiny little bumps at first and then grows as years go by. They store them on a slightly moist container.

I searched online how pearls are produced and they all state that the nacre are produced by a living oyster covering a foreign object inside it. Now, what the ladies in my family claims totally contradicts this. Do you have a similar experience? Thanks beautiful ladies!

@kikaymachine, I had mine set in Greenhills 14k gold. I bought loose golden pearls here in Palawan. Marami sa Greenhills, you can ask the stall owners, mas mura sila compared to the alajera I got in touch with.

Here in Puerto Princesa, the pearl store owners also offer to set the loose pearls in gold. Other will tell you they wont if hindi sa kanila binili yung pearls, pero the ones I buy from offer it naman.

Bought a pair of SSP earrings and more at Berdori in Greenhills like 2 weeks ago. Mas mahal sya kesa sa dati kong supplier but satisfied din naman of the quality. I am actually blogging about my shopping haul right now kasi may nagtatanong kung how much, how to tell the diff bet SSP and freshwater, etc. Hehe.

pangalan lang ba talaga nagpamahal sa Jewelmer?  or talagang high quality? pero hindi din mura sa alahera ah, depending on the quality...

Medyo ilihis ko lang ang usapan ah. Bothered lang ako. Sabi kasi ng officemate ko na kapag nagsusuot raw ng pearl (whether South Sea or other kinds of pearl) ang isang single lady eh hindi raw makakapag-asawa. Eh I come to work wearing my South Seas. Ang elegant kasi tingnan eh. Na-bother lang ako. May "pamahiin" bang ganun?

i remember this too, nung bata pa ako may bigay na pair of hikaw ang father ko na pearl. sabi nung cousin ng mother ko, wag daw pagsusuutin ng pearls dahil iiyak sa pagibig or hindi na makakapag-asawa. awa ng Diyos, may asawa na ako ngayon with 2 lovely kids. yung 2 babaeng anak ng tita ko na yun muntik na hindi makapag-asawa at magka anak. parehas nagsipag-asawa ng may edad na.
