^ you can have both. My daughter has a cot where she sleeps (since birth til now, she's two) and a playpen where she learned to stand, walk and run. 

both are useful.

son ko lumaki sa playpen lang.. since birth til present dun pa din sya natutulog... bumili na lang kami ng mattress na kasyang kasya sa playpen.. dito din sya nakapag first walk..

Car din bed ng nephew ko na 5 yrs old now. Very similar to that but it's color blue. Di nga lang pede manahin ng baby ko coz my nephew has a younger brother that's just a year old.

@Megan1410, sayang! nice sana if manahin ng baby mo.. i really wanted that for my son.. pero pass muna kami.. LOL

@kaycee0307, nung nasa pinas kami, sa SM kami nakabili ng crib.. i think it was one of the cheapest.. parang 3k plus ata.. close to 5k kasi meron mattress/comforter na kasama.. pero maliit sa baby ko na ito.. square type kasi nabili namin and maiksi na for my son..

i am also thinking of buying a wood crib for my soon-to-be baby. though medyo matagal pa naman ako bibili, like in 3 months time, nagwiwindow shopping na ako. i'd like wood cribs kasi presko.

im intrigued with the wood crib na pwedeng gawing bed pag medyo lumaki na ang baby. meron kayang gumagawa niyan dito sa Las Pinas or Paranaque?

Are these the Dwell Studio beddings available in Rustan's Makati?

Did you also see the Babylicious crib beddings?  Super beautiful and it'd really make a nursery look great!  Pero naman P12,000.00 for a complete set!  That's almost 2 sets of King Size beddings na! (with 300 TC ah!)

my daughter is using Childcare Stirling Cot for 2 years now and it came with changing table.

i recommend this because the cot is so sturdy and safe. as for the beddings, since this is a gift, this came with bumper pads na din.

we bought our own though, i specially bought Dakki bumpers/bolster with bolster cases, and mat which i didnt like. so di recommended to. manipis kasi bumpers nila.

kung playpen type naman gusto mo, i wanted to purchase chicco playpen http://www.healthchecksystems.com/global/images/product_2/159/1590_250X250.jpg before we had the cot. you might want to consider. we eventually purchased chicco playpen din naman pero yung simpler lang at mas mura para lang laruan nya na di sya mauutog pag natutumba.

ano ba advisable bilhin pag newborn? di ba advisable bumili ng crib? nagtingin kase kami sa sta.lucia, price range na nakita ko mga 4k and below.. may nakita ako 4k, parang katulad sya nung link ni sis pinkpotato na playpen..  parang 3in1 sya, may changing table, tas mababa tas pwede itaas para tulugan at di nakakangawit.. di ko madescribe. i forgot the brand though.. ano ba dapat iconsider pag bibili ng crib/playpen??

I think kapag newborn, hindi pa gaanong magagamit ang crib, especially if you intend to co-sleep and breastfeed.  Useful ang crib during times na kailangan mo iwanan si baby at walang ibang magbabantay (e.g., no yaya), like kapag maliligo ka or magluluto, etc. 

Better to buy a crib which is convertible to a play pen.  Mas matagal mo kasi magagamit ang play pen, especially kapag lumilikot na ang baby.

Bottom line, depende sa lifestyle mo pa rin.  Assess your situation.

^ i see. thanks sis.. siguro for the first 2months tabi muna kami ni baby since leave pa naman ako sa work non and siguro di ko rin matitiis na ilagay lagay sya doon baka parati ko lang syang karga non at katabi sa bed, and gusto ko rin mag bf.. plan ko rin sana kumuha ng magbabantay kay baby pag back to work na ako ulit.. anyways, siguro nga di na muna ako mag invest to buy a crib before giving birth. assess ko muna kung dapat ba or hindi bumili pag anjan na si baby...
