^  I think even the "autopilot" could fail if the computers / speed sensors malfunctioned just like what happened to Air France 447.

^ay don't worry about turbulence, Prish. =) Just make sure your belt is on and when the seatbelt sign is switched on, be obedient, don't walk around or walk to the toilet.

Actually the most crucial phases of the flight are the take-offs and landings.  Auto-pilot is switched on pag-cruising na.  And turbulence, I don't think, scares pilots.  I am confident, they are not. Because:  A) before the flight they'd study the route and what-have-you na B) they will be briefed about the weather before they are allowed to taxi for take-off C) the communication between them and control towers is on-going thru out the flight--weather, air-traffic, etc  D) before the start of boarding and before or during refueling the aircraft is thoroughly checked by engineers and the operating pilots themselves E)  most of them have been through flight simulators and have faced all sorts of scenarios na.

then....

the plane dropped sharply!!!

medyo malalim yung ihinulog kasi feel ko i was thrown out of my chair. i really felt i was off the chair because i felt air flow beneath my butt and behind my back and it took a second or two bago ako nabalik sa aking upuan. I was held by the seat belt. the force was so sharp na sumakit yung bewang ko dahil sa seat belt. sumakit din yung ulo ko dahil sharp ang pagkahulog at naumpog ang ulo ko sa seat. syempre, nagsigawan yung mga tao na kala mo nasa roller coaster. but the sensation was far from a rollercoaster's wild turn or drop. we had to endure 2 more sharp drops. halos sunod sunod yung tatlong drops. but the last two were not as deep as the first one. but they were sharp kasi feel mo yung utak mo eh nag squish sa cranium.

since then, tuwing nagkakaturbulence, nagwiwish lang ako na hindi na maulit eto kasi ang panget talaga ng feeling.

Air pockets. Maski loose or tight ang seatbelts, it won't matter, masakit talaga (iba sa neck, esp those with weak necks and spinal, naku!), buti walang other accidents on top of it like  overhead compartments nag-open, etc.

We just have to trust our faith sometimes...leave it all to Him.

dahil loose yung seat belt, i was off my seat for a second o two. medyo sumakit din internal organs ko sa lower torso.

^ what my cousin does when she has her baby on board, an hour before the flight pinapatulog niya si baby (yung gamot for the sipon), not that harmful naman kasi yun ang instruction ng pedia. so throughout the flight, sleep si baby (local destinations lang 'to ha). then pagkalapag sa airport, gigisingin na si baby.

yup, medyo praning ako pagsakay ng airplane. siguro dahil na din sa experience ko nung 1st time ko sumakay na inabutan ako sa loob ng CR and too bad nagluko yung door at ayaw nya mag open so to the rescue ang mga flight attendants para makalabas ako.
