Mga aussies kasi, diretso kung magsalita.

and usually, usually lang, yung mga aussies na ganun, galing sa uneducated sector-yung mga hindi talaga nakapagtapos, yung mga nagloko/loko loko ba.

other than that ok naman. mataas ang values.like my dad, nalimutan niya insurance card, hindi muna pinabayad ng dentist. ang sabi, balikam mo lang bukas. kahit first time lang nila mag meet. pero binalikan agad ng dad ko within the hour.

pero sa akin lang. kailangan isipin ng mga puti na "we have to raise our consciousness." kahit man tayo. we have to meditate on why are there migrants? why is the gov't allowing migrants. ano ba ang role niya sa progress? etc.

feel lang nila naiinvade sila. pero fear lang yun. pano ba naman nadadaig natin sila. marami sa kanila, ayaw mag aral. ayaw nila mag uni, at magsettle na lang sa job A or trade B. pero pipintasan yung asian na magtitipid sa lahat ng bagay at magpopokpok ng ulo para maging qualified for better jobs.

Racism is a very touchy subject & some say that its only a word. I beg to differ. Not until i started travelling outside asia did i fully embrace being a Filipino. Though keep in mind that we are the minority along with other immigrants and we are the ones who chose to live and breathe in their soil. They are threathen that we might change their culture or take away their jobs thats why they bully us, the minority, whenever they can. Talking about Australia, many Chinese, Greeks and Italians face such sort of situations too and some even are used to it. Indians gets the worst because they shamelessly kiss the redneck's asses but cry racism in the media. I also notice that they complain all the effing time! Whereas the Asians are low-key and conformist. I have been to Australia twice but didnt experienced racism at all. They may be not as friendly as the Americans are but I dont think they are rude either. Racism comes in different forms & almost impossible to elude but to avoid stirring trouble, behave as those around do. If that doesnt work, go for the kill!

dito ako nakatira sa sydney at isang beses lang ako na katikim ng racism. it wasnt towards me directly though.

we were on the bus. this old aussie guy probably got really annoyed that me and my fellow pinoy and this korean and his fellow korean were talking in our native tongue.

he was overhearing us but couldnt understand a word. nairita siguto siya dun.

tapos humirit siya ng "stupid monkeys"

ayun, nahiritan ko tuloy siya ng "excuse me, did you just call us monkeys? are you being racist? "

nagulat siya na i was able to speak in english. decent english at that.

tapos sabi niya, "yeah, at least i know i'm a person"

DUH.

tapos nahiritan ko na lang na " you'll die soon, old and alone, man."

( yeah, i know, i shouldnt have tried to kill him in my mind pero i was wanting to speak for us all asians, kairita kasi )

^ what a racist..sheez. Are a lot of aussies really like this? One time, I was on a tour with an Aussie family and when I told the wife I am Filipino, she said 'Oh! how dirty is it there? Good thing you were able to afford this trip? WTHell...I said, 'Your questions are really weird'. Tas walk-out. Parang i didn't know how to react. I know I should've handled it differently like natawa na lang sana ako and explain myself eh, nabad trip na ako eh.

i'm sorry to hear about your experience with aussies, sisses. most likely, uneducated yung mga na-encounter ninyong aussies. i work directly with aussie colleagues here at macquarie and they're really nice and polite. straightforward yes, pero polite pa rin, kahit yung mga bosses. actually, amazed sila sa mga pinoy 'cuz ang general description nila sa mga pinoy, masisipag at may sariling kusa. plus, madiskarte pa. mas malimit pa ko maka-encounter ng racist na american when i was with an american company(though ang racist, yung american customers, not our american colleagues/bosses).

well most of the time uneducated ang mga ganun as per my previous post.

and sometimes kasi, these uneducated people, can't adapt sa change and can't accept differences--hindi nila matanggap ang nature ng mga bagay. lets face it, according to the great minds behind the gov't and the economy--they need us.and they can't face that.

pero just like the best of us, minsan napipikon din sila, kahit educated, at nakakapagsalita ng masama. but the educated ones, most of the time, do apologize.

but there are also yung mga hindi nakapagtapos na uber bait at magalang.

pero yung hirit nung tang yun, as if naman ang kids nila hindi ganun makipagtaltalan. baka matanda lang talaga...old, grumpy and maybe dirty.

but you know, with old people, old habits, attitude and thinking--hardly fades away. some even wear their eyeglass frames from the 50s di ba.

funny thing happened a few weeks ago. was at a bus stop at about 9 in the evening. there were two of us, me and an oriental girl. nung akoy, umupo sa bench, siya ang lumayo. as in tumayo siya at lumayo despite the freezing wind. jeez. later may dumating na isang lasing na aboriginal. eh di takot siya, lalo nan't kinausap siya. ako naman later nilapitan nung drunk person na yun. i was able to handle myself, talk things out with him diplomatically. (kasi ilang beses kami binalikan) ngayon, si oriental girl, dikit naman sa akin. kahit sa bus dikit na din. 

life can be so funny.

I am certain that not all Australians are like this. But, it's just that I have heard of many experiences about Australians being racist.

Like my boyfriend. He stayed and studied in Sydney and Brisbane for a while and he returned to Manila after less than a year with some bad experiences. He basically liked it there, clean and he learned a lot things. However, according to him, some people hated him just because he is Asian. He tried to work in a cafe (I think) and the manager spoke to him like he didn't understand a word in English. Iba daw pakikitungo sa kanya. And some people stared at him in the market.

He really doesn't want to remember those bad experiences. He is an optimistic person naman. He just told me that some Australians especially old people are still stuck in the past.

I dunno, experienced being sprayed by a toy gun 20 years ago by crazy aussie boys.

But...never again did I experience it  afterwards.  In fact, I find most aussies I interact with very very   nice.  They are a lot like us, english speaking lang.

Hmmm, I was never stared at ever in Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney.  Dami Asians na  sa Australia, even  blacks..so I wonder what warrant the stare?

Sis, they can't help it..ugali  nila ang pagiging direct kasi.  Yun din kasi impression nila ng Pilipinas which we can change but it might take decades.

That's true. I asked my friend kung san ang target destination ng Indians - sabi, UK or US. Sabi ko bakit hindi Australia? Sobra daw kase ang racism.

e bakit ang super uber daming Indians sa Melbourne?  Grabeng dami ah.  Kaya din sila siguro tinitira, napakarami nila bigla e.

mag-aaral ako sa australia,and hearing racism stories makes me worry.baka hindi ko kasi kayanin..

maraming mababait na aussie at may mga hindi din mabait. yun lang naman.

siguro na exaggerate lang dahil sa kulay or lugar. but generally its no different from being napagkamalan na pickpocket sa SM dept store; naglalakad ka sa pinas at pinagkamalan ka ng kapwa mo na squatter ka not knowing you just live a few meters away.

For me, this is the truth. It happens!  and when it happens it happens. masakit nga talaga. but you should also know how to deal with them. I don't want to sound or look over protective sa Australia or kung ano mang country.

I have a lot of experiences regarding the big "D" and thank fully kinaya ko naman lahat... so far.

kung nakayanan ng libo libong Pilipino dito sa australia, kaya nyo din yan. else marami nang nagsiuwian.

just like the previous poster, barahin nyo. kung work related, idemanda nyo. takot sa demanda mga yan. 99% ng demanda nauuwi sa settlement.

Ako bago pa lang dito sa Oz nung naka-experience ng racism.  Sad nga kasi of all people, sa police officer pa nanggaling.  I was flagged down kasi for a traffic violation.  Actually, di ko alam na ako pala yung hinahabol nila so by the time inabutan nila ako, sinisigaw-sigawan na ako.  When they asked for my license and I told them that what I'm using is my Phil. driver's license, this constable smirked and huffed, very obviously to say "kaya naman pala".  Syempre marami pa siyang sinabi na sermon pero tune out na ako kasi nga alam kong dini-discriminate na ako.  Isa lang naman out of the two constables yung ganun.  Tahimik lang yung isa at binilinan ako ng maayos.  Tapos kahit nung paalis na ako naririnig ko siyang nagkukwento about me, di ko na lang pinansin.  Nakakadismaya lang na sa lahat ng tao eh sa mga public servants mo pa makikita ang ganun.

Sa store din namin, maraming kung makasalita sa yo akala hindi ka nakakaintindi ng English, although most of the rude ones are aboriginals, I have to admit.  Because of that, feeling ko nagiging racist na din ako kasi takot ako at iritado sa mga aboriginals.  Madalas kasi nangha-harass (verbal abuse) din sila sa buses, trains lalo pag mag-isa lang ako or yung husband ko.

Well, its true, nakakatakot ang aborigine. 

My hubby saw them in action stealing from a pawnshop in gold coast.  I was on a train with drunk and rowdy abos.

Oh well, may mabait din naman na puti...kanina lang sa bus, this 30+ yo caucasian guy gave up his seat for me, kinalabit pa ako to inform me. ...so far ako...generally di ako nakaka encounter ng racism against me and they don't speak to me like am tone deaf naman.

Knock on wood, sana di ako ma ka encounter ng racism dito ever again ( happened to me 20+ years ago)

yung isang kakilala ko naman, tinekitan siya ng pulis, dahil wala syang helmet habang nakabicycle. pero yung ibang kasabayan niyang mga teenager, na walang helmet, hindi naman.

yung saleslady, ayaw ako payagan mag-fit ng clothes kasi filipino ako. nagtataas ng boses sa akin or nagiging masungint / unfriendly kapag hahawakan ko lang mga damit.

kaya minsan, kahit di ko kagustuhang gawin ito
...sinasabi ko, chinese o kaya singaporean na lang ako. tapos pag naging ka-close ko na, chaka ko na ipagtatapat na actually, filipino ako.

(wag po sana kayong magalit sa akin, fellow filipinos.
i love the philippines...but i don't like being discriminated. and i don't like our economic situation. sino ba?)

tapos one time, nag-land ako sa airport ng HK. e di sa baggage x-ray check, kasama ko yung mga fellow passengers ko diba?
tinanong ba naman ako..."are you a filipino?" tapos sineparate ako dun sa mga european, sa mga whites, sa mga chinese. ang galing no? special mention pa talaga ako. hmp.

Grabe naman! saan ka ba naka base? sana binato mo sa saleslady yon or kaya sinampal mo ng pera...

aussie din boss ko..mabait naman and yes, direct magsalita and minsan pinapansin ibang terms ko like perks sabi niya bonus nalang daw. tama din na takot na takot sa demandahan hehe

Just happen maybe an hour ago.. i dunno if we called it RACISM.. pro just share it anyway.. nakipagdeal ako sa isang Pinoy supplier here sa Dubai, so we already closed yun LPO sa kanya, at nakipag negotiate ako to expedite the delivery, so we agreed everything and it went ok.. kaya forward ko naman sa procurement , to an Indian Guy, at ngbigay ako ng NOTE dun na ito ang contact natin, yun ngang Filipino.. but what they did.. naghanap sila ng kausap na kalahi nila dun at instead na release the LPO kay kabayan, ni release nila sa kalahi nila..  .. si kabayan, nagsabi sa akin na okae lang kac ganyan ang indians.. kakausapin lang nila ang kalahi nila.. pro syrempre nakakahiya.. kac nginarag ko sya para mabigyan ako ng best price at delivery.. really indians get me sick...
