i'm a coffee addict to.  my coffee has to be brewed. mainit talaga ulo ko pag di ako nakainom ng brewed hehe. di talaga ko coffee drinker. di ko kase type yung lasa ng instant coffee... pero nung nauso na yung brewed coffee nagustuhan ko sya super. mas matapang na coffee the better. kaya bumili din ako ng coffeemaker para sa office yung pang 1 cup lang... mas tipid kase kung ako na magbrew ng coffee kesa bumili ko araw araw sa labas.

na-try ko na yung cafe alamid or coffee luat (tama ba?) at travel cafe in GB5.  1 cup is almost P300 yata.  nothing to rave about.  napansin ko lang ok yung aroma pero pagdating sa taste di naman sya ganun ka special parang ordinary brewed coffee lang. or siguro di ganun katapang yung timpla ng travel cafe.  mas prefer ko kase yung matapang na coffee. anyway, buti na lang may nagtreat lang sa kin... kase manghinayang ako sa P300. 3 starbucks coffee na mabibili ko non.

want to try the other whole coffee beans sa starbucks to be ground and brewed at home.

What blends ng Starbucks na masarap can you suggest?  :)

last year, super nagustuhan ko yung pasalubong from the US na Christmas blend :)  French roast is also good

my husband is a coffee-lover so nahawa na din ako. Admittedly, i dont know how to make coffee. It's my husband who brews (coffee press) it every morning. Siya na din nagtitimpla  ;).

best brands i've tasted so far:
1) Jacobs - my fave variety is the Jacobs Krönung bec of the chocolate after-taste. Sadly this is not available locally. so everytime may manggagaling ng Europe we always make bilin
2) Lavazza
3) illy
4) Sumatran coffee - i cant remember the brand but it's authentic, bought from Indonesia
5) Starbucks

@ bluemargarita: Depends on what you like. House Blend is still my favorite at Starbucks. I'm partial to the Latin American blends because they're naturally sweet, and they usually don't have sour or bitter overtones. because they're not too earthy (like the Asian ones, which taste like wood), and some of the African blends also can go on the bitter side.

I would also buy coffee for home brewing at Starbucks, but I request them to grind it for me, for French press use. The prices there are rather steep, so I'm hoping to find even just good-tasting local coffee beans somewhere that can also do a coarse French press grind for me. Our coffee grinder at home broke down; maybe I should get a new one. :)

^^thanks sis VforVictoria. i will try the House Blend. lagi kasi french roast kuha ko.yes may kamahalan talaga but coffee is my only addiction. so konting tiis na lang sa price :)  we grind ours at home!

i also get two large brown bags of homegrown coffee from my tito's farm in Mindoro. ground na when he gives it to us. minsan lang parang umaasim even if we store it in an airtight container. But its good na rin kung wala ng starbucks na stock.

^huwag muna talaga i-grind sana. yung friend ko part ng everyday coffee ritual ang grinding. masaya naman siya kasi her aunt gave her this mini coffee grinder. perfect lagi kape nila. if you love freshly brewed coffee, a small coffee grinder is worth the investment.

^^ and ^ That does it; I'll ask for a coffee grinder this Christmas. :D I miss French press coffee!

I can't get my dad to split with me an order of pressed coffee at Starbucks, because he likes his coffee piping hot, and you can't get really hot coffee if you use a French press. :(

i like the french roast ng starbucks with my french press. great flavor. ayaw ko yung pike place nila blech.

instore coffee im starting to stay away from coffebeans regular brew. somethings really off with the flavor the one near my office. it was really bad kala ko the cream was bad pero strike two on a different day it was equally bad. nafrustrate lang ako. pero sige i upped it na to a large americano same with my coffee of choice at starbucks.  eh been trying to abstain from coffee but it just keeps haunting me to dig in and enjoy. nyahaha.

^^ Yehey, I'm excited. :D But my mom told me there are supposedly cheap small coffee grinders at SM, pero baka naman "disposable" lang sila. :(

^ I was coerced into finishing 24 oz of Pike Place, freebie at Starbucks in the US during their presidential elections last year. Ick. Even if it was free coffee from Starbucks, it was still yuck. :D

we brew our coffee too.  Really need a caffeine fix early in the morning otherwise i'd feel irritable and will have a headache without it.  Like our coffee extra bold.  I usually switch from 1 type to another para di nakakasawa.  Tried Kalinga gold, batangas barako, starbucks italian roast/australian coast/sumatra, etc. There's a stall in farmer's market near the fruits stand and dampa area that sells a variety of coffee beans.  The best coffee that i've tasted so far is vietnamese coffee- Trung Nguyen Legendee variety.

The chocolaty taste in Vietnamese/Thai coffee comes from the addition of chicory.

^ Vietnamese restaurants (Pho Hoa, Pho Bac) sometimes sell Vietnamese coffee.

It's not at all bitter and sour because of the chicory...it even tastes more chocolaty than a mocha. :)
