sunflower oil most of the time. my sister brings this kasi when she comes home. pag naubusan kami ng stock i usually buy corn oil or canola oil.
i use olive oil for pasta and dressing lang. i don't use it for frying.
i also have peanut oil but use it on recipes that call for it only.

we use sunflower, corn and vegetable oil for frying and sauteing. before we use olive oil too for sauteing pero sabi ni kuya kim, hindi daw dapat ginagamit ang olive oil for cooking. kase toxic daw olive oil when heated. much more yun usok nun. so we use olive oil for salad and dressing na lang.

The mixed review on coconut oil if because of the fact that most studies have been commissioned by oil manufacturers in the US.  And the main agenda is to degrade coconut oil so they can penetrate the market.  Back in the 50's, 60's, until the 70's all manufacturers in the US use coconut oil which is not local to them, what they have are the corn, sunflower, canola and the likes.  These oil manufacturers partnered to thrash foreign manufactured coconut oil bec afterall they are the local ones.  Little did everyone know at the time that all these local oils are actually bad for the health.  It is only now that the US is realizing the bad effects of not using coconut oil anymore, with all the high cholesterol-diseases their population has.

Recent studies show that though coconut oil is high in cholesterol, this is actually good cholesterol.  Coconut oil has medium chain fatty acids which is the most stable and most healthy.

So true. A lot of books have been written about the benefits of coconut oil. I highly recommend "The Truth About Coconut Oil" by Conrado S. Dayrit, M.D.

^ Olive Oil might not be best for cooking.  Not sure on which terms I should use to explain it, pero low daw yung burning point (?) ng olive oil. Once it reaches a certain temperature, nawawala daw yung stuff that makes it healthy.

Golden Fiesta canola oil regularly gamit namin. Natry narin namin yung Soya Oil and Corn Oil (pricier) from the same brand pero di namin type. May ibang amoy specially yung soya, but not a foul smell naman.

mababa smoke point ng olive oil and once it reaches to that point it breaks into fat which makes it not healthy for frying.

we started using grapseed oil because of this, mas mataas smoke point nya and doesn't break into fat that quick. it is a good substitute din for dishes that need evo or plain olive oil like for salads etc. i noticed also  when frying it does cook better comparably to vegetable oil and canola oil.

i use coconut oil sa ngayon kasi di pa sya nauubos... papalitan ko na sya kasi di naman sya healthy talaga, akala ko lang. very decided na kasi kami ni hubby na kumain ng healthy food kasi na inspire kami sa napanood namin about centenarians :P and we're planning (actually ako lang talaga nagpasimuno) na gayahin yung greek diet. hehe.

so nagresearch ako (syempre sa reputable websites lang), and as expected, olive oil talaga yung healthiest pero good for salad dressing lang. madaming klaseng olive oil at ang best choice daw is unrefined extra virgin olive oil.  canola oil is good sa stir frying..at dapat daw tingnan sa label yung word na organic. then rice bran (wala pa kong nakikitang ganito) naman daw ang good for deep frying.

i don't know pero hindi ko feel yung sunflower oil kasi i don't think na ganun sya kahealthy.. i haven't found a good article about it na hindi biased at fully detailed. kung siguro may isang magpapatunay na its better than the 3 above mentioned oils, then siguro iko-consider ko ito. and ang sabi, marami raw nagbebenta ng olive oil pero actually 70-80 percent sunflower oil sya tapos may 20-30 percent low class olive oil daw... ngayon, gusto ko malaman kung talagang pure na high grade yung olive oil ng doña elena.. philippine made ba yan o may distributor lang talaga nyan? kasi sa pagkakaalam ko (pls correct me if i'm wrong), walang olive oil sa pinas.. how come meron tayo nyan? xD

haba ng post ko. hihi
