How to create your own website

hi sisters, im planning to have my own domain/website sana (.com), but i dont have any idea how to do it. pls help me naman what to do, how should i start given that i already have a domain name in mind. TIA!

Meron namang available na web hosting. In my case, free na domain and may mga kasali ng software that you can use like for blogs, shopping carts, content managers etc. Pero since personal website lang sa akin, I use wordpress sa site ko. Ok sya in terms of customization. You can choose your domain's name as long as available pa. And I pay 1800/year

what if i'll register my own domain pero ang template ko is MULTIPLY.  Plan ko kasi ipa-redirect na lang sa multiply site.  Does that mean that I only have to pay for the domain registration, pero wala na kong babayaran sa hosting since free naman ang Multiply?

Domain is just the web address. AFAIK, kailangan mo pa rin yung hosting para lang ma-redirect since yung hosting ang nag-pprovide ng ganyang services. Ang ok dito, you can just get the cheapest package (since di mo naman kailangan ng bandwith at storage since papa-redirect mo naman ito) tapos ipa-redirect mo na lang sa multiply account mo.

I purchased the domain from philhosting.net. Check mo availability ng name, then bayad ka na. Around Php 800 lang initial payment then Php300 per year. Kaya lang I suggect magbayad kayo sa kanila ng cash, kasi ambagal ng response nila pag paypal.

Tip # 1: NEVER GET PHILHOSTING

They are the worst web hosting. They go down every month. They only have 1 number for support (na medyo tatanga-t**** pa yung operator). They even removed the back-up function for the lower packages.

Just last December their entire hosting went down for an entire week. All the data entered in the website was not saved. Badtrip talaga. Dami umiinit ulo diyan sa philhosting na yan. Sana magsara na sila

i have my own domain and webhosting. i purchased my domain at godaddy. may kasama ng free hosting kaya lang may ads. but if you just want a domain for your online site like multiply, blogger and others ok na domain lang bilhin nyo. godaddy is the best when it comes to domains yata. you can just redirect it to your site. if you register one and needs help redirecting it to another site, i might be able to help you but depende sa domain registrar ha. now i have another domain and hosting package from dreamhost. unlimited storage and bandwidth.

merong int'l webhosts na mura lang ang packages. pero yung big names like godaddy, bluehost, ixwebhosting, hostmonster, dreamhost, etc... malaki ang storage capacity pati na ang bandwidth. may mga 1-click software installation din. but you have to prepay for 1 yr or at least 2-yrs for some to avail of the promo prices.

there are also philippine webhosts na affordable and probably easier to purchase for those without CCs. kaya lang the features aren't as good as those you can get from int'l hosting sites. can't tell about the support from webhosts here kasi mine is from int'l webhosts.

sis, yung hosting package ko kasi sa dreamhost free for two years -- for those with previous geocities account. limited promo nila nung end of april. included na dun yung hosting and domain. i can even add my other domains there so yung nakuha ko na domain from godaddy pwede kong gamitin dun sa dreamhost din. medyo mahal nga lang if you signup with them but i guess marami din naman silang ibang promos to make it affordable. domains are included na yata if you signup.

it's ok to get a hosting package if you wanna have your own custom website. you're free to do whatever you want to do with it, use applications you'd like to use (wordpress, joomla, gallery, phpbb, etc... depende rin sa package na kinuha mo).

however, if you just want to use your existing websites from, say, multiply, blogger, wordpress.com, livejournal, etc... i'd say you just need a domain name.

^depende sis. most sites accept credit cards kasi. i've used both CCs and paypal when purchasing domains and/or hostings. may nakita ka na bang hosting company where you'd like to sign up. may nakita ako before na may kasama ng hosting if you'd register a domain (w/o ads na to). yung domain lang babayaran. i forgot nga lang kung saan ko nakita...

Magkano over-all na binayaran mo sa dreamhost, and ano-ano ang lahat na kasama sa package na kinuha mo? Balak ko rin sana magkaroon ng sariling site in the future kaya sinisimulan ko nang mag-research. Hehe..

Wala akong binayaran sa dreamhost kasi nakasali ako dun sa Geocities promo nila. Free yung domain and hosting ko. Medyo mahal yata yung rates nila kung annual ang kukunin. Mas mura kung prepaid for how many years. Or meron din silang yung may discounts using promo codes.

if the site is for blogging/personal you can have hosted it to a linux platform its way cheaper than windows based. this is offered mostly by hosting companies kase cheap nga sya but if you intend to use this as an e commerce(business related) i think you might need to consider that windows could be an option.

sa international host na try ko network solutions. yung sa local naman is with mobilehive (www.mobilehive.com). sometimes mas okay yung local host kase you can call them for assistance - provided na yung host has good customer service =). yung sa mobilehive okay naman pero last year natapos na yung contract ko so im  not sure if still the same until now.
