If you want a ring around your finger daw, then don't give in to live-ins.

^I totally agree with you, its just an easy way out option for guys...usually girl ang talo sa ganitong set up.  Atleast pag married then naghiwalay, girls can have something (sustento, marital shares etc)

^ Yes along with kids, financial burden of marriage costs, headache with paperwork, family drama....

No thanks. I don't think that it is right for women (or men) to get married and expect financial returns from a marriage that does not work out (unless they do something horrible to you or if you have kids).

When I marry someone, I hope that it happens only once. I'd rather live with a guy first and see his true colours before tying the knot.

I think that most people care too much about what other people and their families think. I honestly feel that this often prevents people from leading happy lives. Why not live the life that you want regardless of the status quo. You might only have one life to live on this earth.

A little off topic but one of the things that irks me is when people are prevented from being together because of their cultural beliefs, religion, family status etc. I knew a guy who was unable to be with his love because they were from a different religion. He was a muslim and she was something else, I can't remember.  He told me that his parents will never accept her. This coming from a man who comes from an "educated" family. I thought that it was really stupid and all their education just went down the drain. I think that this is one reason why I detest organized religion. Sorry to ramble on but at the time I wanted to slap some sense into him and I still want to slap people who have this sort of mentality. Maybe I am missing something. Can someone please explain how this makes any sense? 2 people who love each other cannot be together because of their religion and family? Arrrgghhhh, so frustrating  ;D

for me, me stigma pa kasi sa akin ang live-in. sabihin na makaluma ako or anything, kasi marriage for me is very sacred. hindi mo siya pwedeng pag-praktisan. you need commitment to make it work. though i have a friend na nag live-in muna sila ng hubby niya for 5 years, then they get married and after 3 years, they separated. so live-in never worked out with them.

Why settle for live-in where you can settle for marriage?

Why settle for less, where you can have the best?

can you ladies clarify what live-in means to you? Pwede kaseng live-in on the same pad but different room, and no sex.

Its like being flatmates. Which is not bad by itself. There are people who are flatmates of mixed gender, but without any relationship. Like how i'm living now.

You may be mistaking live-in for living together as husband and wife.

I think it's ok for a couple na mag-live if they have the same goal, that is, to get married whenever they're ready. Nung mag-bf/gf pa lang kami ni hubby, I raised that topic to him. Kasi sabi ko, we're old enough tsaka gusto ko sya makasama, at the same time maghanap ng trabaho. LDR kami noon, usually 4 times a month lang magkita. But he said, no way. He doesn't want to put me in a situation na magkakaroon ng bad impression ang mga tao. It's not that "bad" ang mga nagli-live in, pero alam naman natin na iba dito sa Pinas. Well it's also his way of saying to me that he respects me. You can also get to know your bf or gf kahit di kayo magkasama sa iisang bubong di ba? Although it varies from person to person. Marami kasing mapagpanggap.

It's okay as long as:

1. You're both financially stable, have jobs and not dependent on your parents.
2. You've been together for more than a year or two.
3. Your parents approve.
4. Marriage is your most likely path.

I agree! I have nothing against living-in pero I don't think I will do that. It's not a guarantee na at the end of living-in together, you will eventually tie the knot, so why even bother living in together and playing like husband and wife.

bf/gf living in at the same pad is an advantage for both the man and woman as long as the woman does  not get pregnant or they don't have sex.

otherwise its a disaster for a woman.

Some men would oppose the thought of living with a girlfriend because with that he can't anymore date other women. Well as we all know, men are polygamous (not all though).

Nothing wrong with opposite sex (not bf/gf) living on the same pad also. You can learn the habits of the opposite sex and learn something new from them.

Living with a woman on the same flat (not my gf) enabled me to learn the 'woman language'. That is, if a woman does not talk to you all of a sudden, then it means you have done something wrong and need to figure it out, like you may have left dirty dishes on the sink, left the stove and oven dirty, forgot to throw the garbage.

I have become a much better man, and will probably be a much better husband by living with the opposite sex.

Bro kasi nasa LOVE AND RELATIONSHIP forum ka, therefore couples ito LIVING together, not as flatmates.

^^ @ trig: live-in= living together like a married couple but no papers or ring involved.

sa akin siguro hindi ako maglilive in bec my father will have a fit. ;) personally. ayoko din dahil parang walang steady ground yung relationship. its only a piece of paper and a metal band, but its the promise of commitment yung hahanap hanapin ko.

Dati I don't believe in live-in pero after being married 7 years, I can say na live-in na lang sana muna para naging malaya na ko ngayon dahil ayoko na sa kanya
