1st Bday
« on: May 16, 2009, 08:42:50 pm »
Mga sis I need some feedback kasi my Baby is turning 1 this coming Sept and I'm thinking of celebrating it with Host like Jen Belen and medyo Bongga kasi syempre 1st Birthday and kahit di pa nya alam paglaki nya me ikukuwento ako sa kanya and me makikita syang picx nya nung 1st bday nya. But then hubby is thinking if simple nalang daw sa house nalang with Close friends and relatives. What do you think? I am more of di na kasi maibabalik yung 1st Birthday nya so I want to celebrate it talaga ng maganda. Please help. Thanks!

ako, i also want a bongga party for the first bday of my daughter kasi first child namin siya and then first bday pa. kumbaga milestone year talaga pero i wont be hiring any hosts, magicians, etc. and wala ding mga pabitin or games for the invited kids.  mashado pa kasing baby yung daughter ko so she wouldnt appreciate those things yet naman.

i consider the party im planning for my girl to be 'bongga' already kasi we'll be doing it in a rented venue and i want it to be decorated then ofcourse papa-cater kami.  kahit walang ng mga special shows or games im sure mageenjoy pa din ang mga guests lalo na yung kids coz the venue has a pool (swimming party) and i'll bring a magic sing too para enjoy din ang mga guests na mahilig mag-videoke.  of course dapat masarap and madami yung food.

yung mga susunod na birthdays nya sa bahay na lang (tipid mode) and her next bongga party would be probably on her 4th na.  by then nakakaintindi na siya and she will surely remember and appreciate the shows, the games etc.   pag ganun id be more than happy to spend every penny i can pero as of now hindi na muna.

pero ikaw sis, if budget permits eh why not?

So sa 2nd bday kami nag celebrate kaso 3 months before nung party last year (6months prior the event kasi booked na lahat ng suppliers) my father passed away.

i find this topic quite interesting and it made me think. For us customary we celebrates the baby's first birthday more for the adults, hence we often have lauriat/banquet style event, thus it's more on dining and well wishes given to the baby.

People celebrates them a lot of ways, some simple some go for more extravagant. I find it very logical indeed that spending a lot on your child's first birthday and then he/she can't appreciate it. But it makes me wonder, if i don't have a celebration at all, and maybe just buy a cupcake and put a candle my baby won't mind, because she's not aware at all its her birthday. Now this would be definitely be a very cost effective way. Which brings me back to my wondering, when we celebrates our child 1st bday, what is the real intention/meaning of the celebration?

on topic pa naman siguro tayo kasi it is still about 1st bday, on motives and reasons nga lang yung nakukwestyon/naiisip natin ngayon

if you are recession-proofed naman, go lang ng go... it's a thanksgiving and memory na rin that your baby can watch in video or see in pictures when he grows up. wala man syang memory of that day, i'm pretty sure he would enjoy looking back with you telling him the story.

if i had the budget, i would've celebrated it a little more bongga pa. kaso i'm a bit guilty kasi i don't have work. so i asked hubby to give me a budget to work on tapos ako na bahala sa lahat. we didn't hire a host and the games for the kids are konti lang talaga. madami rin ako na-DIY to cut on cost. ayun nag-over budget din pero konting konti lang.

i would suggest that you talk with your hubby. magcompromise na lang kayo on what would work best for you both. maybe he doesn't have the time to be involved sa preps. is it ok with you na ikaw na lang ang mag-asikaso lahat? or maybe he's worried about the budget.

@stormy, i share your sentiment, thinking it through the celebrations of life indeed both mom and child.

@tiggerlily, i agree rin, with times like this best rin maka tipid talaga. Kami we try as much to have DIY yung kaya namin gawin. Set a budget and work within.

Our baby grows fast, cherish each moments as much as you can :)

every birthday is a milestone and it deserves to be celebrated.  kung kaya ng budget, go lang ng go diba!

I think most mommies want their child's not only 1st but all birthdays to be bongga, for what reason, hindi ko rin masagot. (Gimik ko na lang, we always want the best for our babies)
Kaso, mga daddies naman are more practical.  Mas gusto nila simple parties lang.  They always ask for reasons why it has to be bonga.
For me, mapag-uusapan naman ito.  If you have money to spend, why not make it bonga. ;)

pero for sure next year wala ng party hehe ;D

My baby's 1st birthday is coming very soon. My original plan was to have the party at home. But the house that we bought won't be available until July. So I decided to rent a hall. Kahit sa hall lang, it won't be that extravagant. No games, no pinatas but I will prepare some loot bags for the kids. Meron ding party theme (Thomas the Tank Engine) para hindi naman boring and plain.

The reason for a big party? ;)

^natawa ako sis :) my husband kasi told me a few minutes ago (kasi humihirit ako ng foodcarts na wala sa orig plan GFC theme) na i should buy na lang gifts for our daughter kasi instead daw na dagdag food e bilhin ko na lang yung gusto ko na shoes and bag for her.

sabi naman ni hubby, instead of that big celebration, ibili ko na lang daw lahat ng toys yung amt na hinihingi ko.  For sure daw matutuwa si baby.  :D

side kwento lang mga sis, ganyang-ganyan din ang drama ko nung binyag ni baby.  we had a budget of 20k and originally gusto ko sana ng big party with a cute cake plus cuppies then madami ding guests para madaming gifts pero we ended up doing a simple celebration instead.  naisip din kasi namin ni hubby, mas practical if yung money na ipang-paparty namin eh ibili na lang namin ng toys and gamit na talagang  gusto namin for our baby.

we decided to just invite the ninongs & ninangs plus parents namin then after the church ceremony nag-buffet lunch lang kaming lahat sa kamay kainan.  there were just 17 of us so ang total gastos namin inabot lang ng mga 6k. kumpleto na yun ha -- church, lunch, souvenirs, invites.  yung natira sa 20k na budget eh ipinang-shopping galore namin ng toys and gamit ni baby plus nakapag-deposit din kami sa savings acct nya.

id say na we made the right decision kasi the money was well spent.  happy kami ni hubs kasi nairaos yung binyag ni baby plus nabili namin yung mga stuff na gusto talaga namin for her.  no complaints naman from our bisita kahit simpleng kainan lang yung reception kasi busog sila hehe.  si baby opkors happy din kasi enjoy nya yung mga pinamili naming toys  up to now.

id say celebrating events/milestones need not be expensive.  ok lang naman maging practical.  kanya-kanyang diskarte yan mga mommies!

para sa akin, best talaga to celebrate 1st and 7th birthdays...kasi yun yung parang milestones diba? and syempre if the budget permits. :)

i celebrated his 1st birthday...well...di ko alam kung bongga yun...pero para sa akin, ok na sya. :)

sabi ko last year, di ko na celebrate ng bongga yung 2nd bday nya but di kasi naka attend last year yun mom ko, MIL, and brother so sabi ko last na talaga to. next year, sa house na lang. :)
