Me too, gusto ko magka Spa, saloon business kasi very worth it talaga para sa lahat na once in a while they will have to treat for a monthly Spa or every payday. I am really praying hard to have this kind of business at relax din ang ambiance kahit ako ang tumao sa sarili kong business hindi ako mapapagod.

What is the first step if you want to start up a salon and spa business?

mga sis, mall based kase ang balak kong location for my nail spa.  they are open from 10am til 8pm. paano schedule ng nail techs? pwede ba silang from opening till closing? so may 1hour overtime? i only need 4 nail techs since maliit lang yung plano ko. and ang budget ko is 150p per day na sahod lang. paano pa yung extra hour?

im planning to open by nov or dec of this year pa naman. pero ngayon pa lang nasstress na ako kung san hahanap ng staff.

any idea how much magpagawa ng glass wall and door?

no offense sis ha, pero talagang may nagpapasweldo pa pala ng 150? is that provincial?

^it's ok sis. yup, it's provincial. and i saw sa mga job ads din na around paranaque area. they only offer 4k per month salary. kaya dun ako nag base coz i really have no idea kung magkano pasweldo. ano ba ang fair na pasweldo?

i think un 150 meron pa un allowance and/or commision per service :-)

kase yun nail tech ko sa galleria, mas pinili daw nila to work in that nail spa kase ke may gawa or wala, may sweldo sila. on off peak days/hours kase, minsan daw dalawa lang client nila in a day. rob galleria yun ha, kala ko as in lagi matao eh

I'll share my system of pasweldo in my massage biz just to give you an idea. I have both fixed salary and commission based. Yung trainee and Business Manager ang fixed. The rest have monthly basic + hourly commission.

I suggest you screen your employees well. Ang mahirap kasi i-maintain sa service-based business yung commitment and loyalty ng employees. Without these, your peeps will be regularly absent and prone to poaching from other salons or business owners. Mahirap mawalan ng tao lalo na if magagaling yung employees mo, sila yung binabalik-balikan ng customers, not the business name itself.

Extensive research talaga sa wages kasi if you go below the usual rate, wala kang makuhang tao. Mahirap maghanap ng reliable employees lalo na if skilled. Do not underestimate their capacity to undermine you kasi THEY really are capable of ruining your business. Baka magising ka nalang na ikaw na yung mina-manipulate ng mga skilled workers mo. Stay on top always but be reasonable.

What I do apart from treating them well, I lay out the policies talaga before I hire them. Strict ako sa absences  and may consequence talaga yun, di ko pinapalampas. Pag may umabuso, I advise them to leave baka ma-influence pa nila yung ibang matitino. Also pansin ko mas maganda ang performance ng employee pag may basic sweldo + hourly commission kasi namomotivate silang magtrabaho. Yung buwanan kasi, like yung trainees ko before (dati 2 sila, now isa nalang kasi umalis na after she learned the  skill in a month---kapal!) tamad sumalang kasi with or without customer,may sahod naman siya.

^thanks for the tip. nagtatanong tanong pa din ako sa mga nearby nail spa located sa malls kung magkano pasweldo nila. btw, paano yung hourly commission?

^Ours sis depend on skill and experience. Siguro di applicable yung hourly rate sa nailspa. Pwede siguro per gawa yung commission. Compute lang muna your overhead expenses and how much yung extra kasi unpredictable yung pasok ng clients lalo na if new business. Set aside 3-4 months savings for  the overhead rin in case di umabot yung expectated income mo. Mas maigi yung may pangbuffer ka sa expenses para on time pa rin yung bayad sa rent and pasweldo nang di magsi-alisan your employees.

Naku sis, talaga? Kasi balak ko din mag open ng nail spa. Saan ba location nya? And bakit daw mahirap? Every time naman na pumupunta ako sa nail spa ko sobrang daming tao palagi...

tingin ko easier ang nail spa kesa sa salon with hairdressers. challenge nun tho is getting good and honest manicuristas, equipment your manpower can't afford and finding a good business model na di ka malulugi at di ka tatakbuhan ng employees.

mga sis, any idea ano ang usual term pag magrerent ng space along highway or national road? the space that i want sa community mall namin is not available anymore. so im thinking of renting sa mismong tapat ng mall na yun na lang. for sure mas mura pa ang rent. kaso wala pa akong nakikitang vacant.

do they also ask for 6 months security bond like sa malls? thanks!

btw, im from the south. provincial lang po.
