Househelp 13th month pay, bonuses and salary increase

I give half of her 13th month pay on the 15th of December and the next half is on the 30th para sure na may extra money sya on both Christmas and New Years Day kasi baka kung isang bagsakan lang, wala na sya matira by new year...hehe!

We gave our helper a 1 month salary as a bonus because she's been with us for a year and half already. I also gave her a cellphone as a xmas gift.

ask ko lang where in the labor code it requires payment of 13th month sa househelp?

nag-research kasi ako and based on what i've read, nasa exception ang employers ng househelp when it comes to 13th month pay.

HomeMom, you're right di talaga mandated ng batas to pay 13th month pay or bonus to our househelps.  It is in the Labor Code.  Actually when we employers give such to our househelp, it would just be considered as a gesture of generosity pero the maids cannot demand the payment of 13th month pay or bonus as part of their employment rights.

so kunyari 3000 ang monthly nya
3000 / 12 = 250
times # of months of stay
250 * 5 = 1250php

ako prorated binibigay ko.. like this year..from january to july 3k lang basic nya, then august to dec 3.2k, so prorated sya lumabas php3083.33 niround off ko na lang to 3100.

Our family driver's been with us for ten years na. So more or less parang part of the family na ang turing sa kanya.  My father gives him his bonus (1 month pay) tuwing November.  Tapos ako naman, when I go home to Pinas 2x a year I give him 100 USD (so essentially  eto na yung 13th month nya). 

May school day aid din sya pag June pambili ng notebooks ng mga anak nya. Plus any rice from the farm in Ilocos, meron din syang share. Minsan nakakairita rin lang yung advance advance.  Though kay mother hinihingi and pag 1k, 1k  lang nililista na lang sa tubig haha dahil ika nga ni mother, san naman kukuha ng pambayad yun.

Pag holidays, we subsidize his Noche Buena and New Year's handa.  Binibilhan namin ng pansit+cake+barbeque, essentially kung ano yung binili namin for us, meron din sila unless special. Plus, pag may pinaglumaan gamit, sya rin ang sumasalo (CRT TV, yung 6 year old laptop ko).

I know, spoiled!  But for 10 years kasi sobrang tried and tested na ang loyalty niya and we know how nagsusumikap naman siya for his kids.  Sabi nga ng tatay ko, kesa sa iba tumulong dun na lang sa siguradong may mapupuntahan ang tulong mo.

Yup, we give 13th month, bonuses and Xmas gifts sa HH/Yaya (with us for 3 years already), Laundry Lady (with us for 8 yrs already).  The 13th month I give as much as possible before December para makapamili ng maaga yung help dahil pag closer to Christmas nagmamahal na ang bilihin.  It's our way of showing our appreciation sa service and loyalty nila samin.

Bonus, wala. We just give them gifts. Kasama lagi ang mga kasambahay naming magkakapatid sa pag-su-submit ng wishlist. From that wishlist, dun kami pumipili ng regalo for them, para hindi na mahirap mag-isip. Also, after Christmas, bakasyon na nila. New Year na ang balik nila.

This year, aside from the 13th month, I gave 1k bonus to my two helpers. Sana laging maganda rin ang bonus sa company namin para masustain ko every year.

ako, may 13th month si yaya which i give kasabay ng xmas bonus ko sa office. Tapos pag midyear ko sa office, (june1) may bonus din ako kay yaya, like sometimes i give her 1/2 to 1 month bonus basta meron, sinasabi ko na "bonus" yun for a good job, pandagdag sa tuition ng mga kapatid nya.
yung yaya ko ngayon 4 months pa lang sakin.  kaya dahil dun parang inisip ko kung bibigyan ko ba sya ng slaary increase. 3k sweldo nya now, then binigay ko yung full bonus nya nung pasko (not pro-rated).

Every year ba dapat nag i increse si yaya? 2500 starting niya kasi. then after 1 year i added 200. Hindi naman mahirap banayn baby ko. He is already 2 years old. Every other week din rd niya for 2 days . then work niya is bantay sa anak ko, luto ng rice then hugas ng pinggan minsan. minsan din naglalaba siya ng damit namin..

si hh ko kasi ay 5mths pa lang,,pro mabait masipag at higit sa lahat mapagkakatiwalaan sya,,
so sabi kasi ni hub ko ikuha ko daw ng passport para pag nagtravel kami ay isama namin si hh...
kya lang by dec uuwi sya para magbakasyon sa province nila,,so im not sure if babalik pa sya samin kasi nakikipagbalikan yun asawa nya...hiwalay kasi sila ngayon...

so sabi ko kay hub kasi ikukuha ko na [textspeak!] ng passport if bumalik sya uli samin...

^nicolle: sis, antayin mo na lang muna bumalik before mo ikuha ng passport, bibihira na sa kanila ang nagsasabi ng totoo na babalik. buti nga yung ex-yaya ko hindi ko kinuha ng passport dati gusto ko na dapat isabay kay baby but since madami syang kapalpakan sa trabaho nawalan ako ng gana na isama sya sa trips kahit na sa domestic lang.
