Househelp 13th month pay, bonuses and salary increase

hi! paano po ang salary increase ninyo sa helpers? by performance or by seniority (which means pare pareho ang increase nilang lahat no matter how is their working performance)?

for me, parang unfair naman if by seniority kung yun isa masipag at yun isa tamad.  but if not by seniority naman, parang naiinggit ang iba at tendency di masaya sa trabaho o lalayas nalang.

for me it's by performance, and by length of service.

Definitely performance.  I usually raise my helpers salary every 6 months depending on performance.  If I feel she has done well she gets a P500/month increase.

by performance, but not now, medyo matatagalan pa siguro since we had a misunderstanding na kasalanan naman ng yaya ng anak ko, so magtiis muna siya

At some point, you will not give a salary increase anymore.  Otherwise, if you increase every 6 months, darating ang araw masmalaki pa ang sweldo nang helper mo sa Exec Secretary mo. 
There is a ceiling by category of course. Like, my cleaner will never get as much as my midwife yaya or cook-mayordoma.  That is life.

For me,  I make sure that my ceiling is higher than prevailing market rates.  Meaning, I always pay more than what my neighbors pay.  That way,  they are not prone to piracy.  Plus, if your wage scale is better than most others' -- you will get better qualified applicants.

by performance at minsan kapag natuwa ako  I gave bonus kahit wala pang pasko.

oki lang ba kung pag nka six months ang yaya magdagdag lang ng 200? or it depends parin sa akin kung magdadag ako or hindi? i base on their performance din kasi. but now parang ayokong dagdagan yung yaya ko hindi ko satisfied sa performance niya now. BUT if ok naman, can i give atleast 200 increase? is this enough? TIA

first month sa amin at okay ang performance nya, i give increase na agad. then kung okay pa rin peformance, i give clothes or any reward bukod pa pag Christmas.

usually depends sa performance and lenght of stay/service.

ideally, sa performance... but this will cause a lot of trouble sa mga tao, kahit sa anong profession pa yan... mas maganda if you just give the increase as quietly as possible... tell also the recipient to keep her mouth shut kung ano man pag-usapan nyo...

i remember lang nung nasa hrd pa ako, it was a question of loyalty versus performance... mahirap yan pag nagkaroon ng inggitan... baka pagsimulan pa ng silent war ng mga maids yan...

Yes,I agree with TRINITY94. 
Tell the helper you are giving an increase to na quiet lang sya, at baka pag initan sya. That kind of statement they fully understand. 

And they tend to keep quiet kasi nga they know magkasama sila so many hours in a day, and it would not be in their best interest kainggitan sila or tawagin silang sipsip or jr or tuta or whatever term they use.

for me sis, its the performance. mahirap talaga pag dalawa ang kasama mo sa house, hindi maiwasang magcompare ng notes yan.

kaya ako if ever kumuha ako ng isang yaya pa, i make it a point na i-discuss ko sa kanila kung pano ang salary increase nila.

may ganito pala?? kami kasi hindi kami nagiincrease eh ..

pero lahat libre.. food.. shampoos.. pati moddess libre.. kasama sa groceries namin at pati monthly gupit.. sabay sabay kasi kami magpagupit so libre sila.. pati damit pag natuwa nanay ko binibilan sila
kapag uuwi antipolo dami pasalubong na food galing sa nanay ko. pag pasko may bonus same ng salary.. parang 13th month

naisip ko lang.. mas practical magbigay ng bonuses kesa monthly increase lalo sa hirap ng buhay.. hindi ka kasi mafoforce ibigay yung bonus lalo kapag nashort ka din that time kesa kapag increase.. yun na talaga yung sweldo nila hindi pwede bawasan.. pataas pa ng pataas..

if the maid's starting salary is 2.5k and below, i automatically increase on the 3rd month to 2.8k, now,our helper's salary is high (4k baby sitter/3k all-around maid)  i think i will increase on their 6th month na.plus i will start their SSS contributions if they stay that long.

I think bottomline is dapat masaya ka at masaya sila. 

I give increases syempre kung ok sila. bumabawi din ako sa bonuses.  performance at attitude ang importante sakin. not so much on seniority kasi 1-2 maids lang naman mine maintain namin.
