Mga bagay na hindi nyo tinitipid
« on: April 29, 2009, 01:20:21 pm »
tangible man or intangible...

1. lahat ng may kinalaman sa daughter ko - from her diapers to making video calls to my baby when i'm at work.

2. pictures - hindi na naibabalik yung mga special moments na yun.

3. food

4. education - well, my baby is just months old and not yet studying but i promise to give her the best education out there.

5. convenience and comfort - e.g. e-pass, lounge, getting a cab instead of taking public transportation, remote controlled appliances, etc...

6. personal luxuries - make-up, anything i put on my skin, hot water baths, nice scent for the rooms of our house, bedsheets (thread counts and textile really matters), soft towels... etc.

7. grooming for my dog - hindi pwedeng sa tabi tabi lang

8. medical expenses - dapat sa big hospitals with best doctors, nurses, equipments and facilities.

madami pa

kayo?

Food tops my list!

Kaya kong magtipid sa ibang bagay except for food.

healthcare, basta anything that can make me healthy in mind, body and spirit.

and also food, i can starve myself eating rabbit food (celery & carrot sticks) and water but pagdating sa food & comfort ni hubby i go all out. A good example would be bed linen kasi he sleeps better if the sheets are soft which in turn he becomes more productive.

1. food
2. appliances I expect to use for a long time - e.g. fridge, tv, a/c, iron, fan, range and oven, even Christmas lights - buying second-rate appliances often turn out to be more expensive in the long run, baka maging fire hazard pa
3. basic materials and fixtures when building a house or structure - better be safe and satisfied for a long time than sorry
4. car maintenance and tires - secondhand tires are scary
5. health and dental stuff - prevention better than cure, and  if ya can't prevent it soon enough, then nip it in the bud as early as possible :)
6. furniture and implements I expect to use for a long time - e.g. dining and living room furniture, sa kitchen: pots and pans, knives
7. jewelry - the real stuff appreciate in value over time, so it's a form of investment
8. communication with my loved ones. Malayo lahat sila, kaya tiba2x ang phone and net services sa kin hehe

ako parang hindi marunong magtipid. at all.  :-[

the only time na consciously nagtipid ako was nung super mahal ng gas. i tried to change my driving style and planned my errands and trips on weekends.

pero siguro things na hindi ko titipirin:
- food
- anything that has a direct relation to my health and safety (like health care/meds, transportation, etc)
- shoes

for other stuff, my rule of thumb is basta it's value for money and this does not necessarily mean cheap.

pero i think to some extent pwede naman magtipid sa food. my husband and i eat out every sunday. instead of spending maybe 1500 per meal, we can go to a more reasonably-priced place. sa bahay naman, instead of buying prime rib from santi's, prime rib from s&r na lang or monterey.

1. shoes - not necessarily splurging but more of being able to buy comfortable and nice shoes. I dont have many pairs, just a few good ones.

2.  pag dating sa makeup, foundation and derma

3.  sweldo, food at well-being ng maids, I always want them to be happy to be working with us. so long as trustworthy sila, they are good to stay. but if not, I'd rather not have a maid at all kung pagti-tyagaan ko lang and give her small pay

4.  gifts to inaanak on Christmas. once a year lang kasi, trying to make up for the whole yr  ;D

5.  gaya sabi ng lahat, health.  I send my son to the doctor immediately kahit ubo/sipon lang, just to make sure it is not something serious.  I make sure complete ang vaccinations.

6.  on weddings, never ever scrimp on the photographer.

7.  education

8.  vacations.  we dont spend big time on it, but essentially, whenever we decide to go on vacation, we choose spots lang na afford namin magsplurge.  that way mas relaxing and we do not count what we spend pag on vacation kami.  basta budgeted for dapat lahat before going. otherwise parang hindi na sya vacation kung lagi ka dapat magtipid, hindi nakaka relax.

9.  bed/mattress - you spend 1/3 of your life in bed.

10.  emergency kit at home- emergency light, flashlight, fire extinguisher

11.  insurance - getting proper insurance coverage w a reputable/credible company

12.  lingerie - I go for comfort

one important thing my mom told us was never to scrimp on food and health...

you can make do with everything cheap, but you'll miss out big time if you dont experience different kinds of food... she said you can never have too much food, kaya sa house namin, laging comment ng mga dumadalaw na punong-puno ang ref namin... we are not naman gluttons because we dont eat everything... we get a lot of guests at home so we are always prepared...

and when it comes to healthcare, never think twice when it comes to buying your complete prescription. getting the best specialist to look after your needs, and making sure you get comfortable health facilities...

the rest, we make do with what we have...

food also.

and needs ng hubby ko :)

kids also but when it comes to toys nila and clothes, i choose wisely. I don't buy the very expensive stuff na or if ever 1 item lang. kids grow up so fast, sayang lang.

Mga bagay na hindi ko tinitipid:

KIDS' EDUCATION

KIDS' NEEDS  -- I am for giving all their needs, as for "wants" -- case to case basis yan coz IMO, it is not good for a kid's character formation to be giving him all his wants

HEALTHY FOOD (Junk food -- hmmm, can compromise and/or refuse to buy in unlimited quantities, bad for the health kasi eh)

HEALTH CARE, HEALTH REQUIREMENTS & MEDICAL CARE & OF COURSE,  PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL CARE (the best doctors, dentists, etc)

ANYTHING MY HUSBAND NEEDS/WANTS -- coz he has konti needs/wants, he is not acquisitive like hmmm, sige, me.

TRAVEL & RELATED EXPENSES

WHATEVER my father (who just died) and mother wanted/want -- kahit na sabihin luho (coz well, they are more than financially comfortable) -- coz sometimes, yun ang gusto nang magulang, ang maglambing at magparinig they want something they do not need, or something they already have.   Like if my father wanted junk food, I would go buy Lays potato chips and Royce chocolates.  Basta, the best I could afford.  When he wanted steak,  I would bring him to Kimpura (his favorite resto).  I would order the most expensive steak there for him to eat -- it would cost around P7-8thou that steak of his,  but what the heck, gusto eh.
