europeans pay better.  some of my friends earn at least 8 usd per hour.  grabe naman 45 pesos per hour ba? hindi naman na makatao.

i have a friend here who teaches esl to koreans sans the middle man.  she gets roughly 500 pesos an hour.  tingnan mo ang laki ng difference.

i've been in the business for over 8 years now. at simulat sapul nasa 10usd per hr na ako. 

currently at 12 euros per hour. mas ok ang one on one kesa mag apply sa companies na nagpapayaman lang :s

I was interviewed by a japanese. He asked what kind of internet am i using and i said it's globe tattoo broadband 3 MBPS. I thought there's no problem with using a broadband but then he said that they do not accept boradband and that they want is DSL. I did not know what to say. I lost hope so pls pls anyone help me thank you

Hi! DSL is a type of broadband connection. Baka akala niya you're using wifi connection. Sa next interview mo, tell them that you're using Globe DSL and it's connected to your laptop/desktop computer.

@blood_siren Hi! Madali lang naman yung work basta nakapasok ka na sa company. Matututunan mo lahat once nagstart ka na. Hindi mo kasi malalaman if may passion ka sa teaching unless natry mo na magturo. Tips, before your interview, dapat magprepare ka na ng mga sasabihin mo. Usually naman yung mga sinasabi sa interview is "tell me something about yourself..." or paano mo iaapply yung job experiences mo sa pagtuturo. For the demo lesson naman, kelangan aralin mo talaga yung lesson na ibibigay sayo. Do some research if may hindi ka maintindihan. Kapag sa actual demo lesson, kelangan be as jolly as possible. Kahit kinakabahan ka, smile ka lang. Icocorrect ka naman ng mga points na kelangan mong iimprove after the interview kapag natanggap ka. Ang importante, makita nila na likeable ka ng mga magiging students mo. Yung lessons na ituturo mo naman kasi, napagaaralan naman yun lahat. Ang importante is makapasok ka muna sa company.

Same question. Been involved in the Asian ESL/EFL industry for so long. I would like to try the European scene, there might be better opportunities waiting.

try posting your resumes in esl forums.  there are a lot of students there looking for English teachers. 

don't attach photos.  the trend in esl now is "native speakers" only.  you want to get them to talk to you so they know that we can be as effective as the "native speakers."

Hi everyone. Newbie here. Found this thread very informative and helpful for people wishing to make it good at working home-based. Thanks talaga sa inyo na very selfless.

Para po sa may alam about HiTutor or currently a teacher sa HiTutor, may questions po sana ako if ok lang po masagot. Sobrang thanks po in advance.

1. Totoo po bang Audio classes lang sila all the time?

2. Allowed po ba Full-time sa kanila. (ex. Mon-Fri 8 hours)

3. How much po standard rate nila for newly-hired teachers? (ex. 25 min/50 min class)

4. When po ang salary date/s in a month? On time po ba sila and never delayed?

5. May mga incentives po ba for good performance?

Any additional info po re: HiTutor is very much appreciated talaga.

And for somebody na working po sa HiTutor, can you recommend po ba the company in the sense na pwede talaga syang maging top choice para sa mga homebased english teachers na willing i-give up and kani-kanilang full time jobs? Yung tipo pong pwede na bumuhay ng pamilya ang salary hehe. Pardon the words po. Very practical lang din kasi these days.

Ganun lang din yung ping ko if i'm using makati server pero pag nalipat yung server sa HK, taas ng ping ko 180-210 nagrerange kaya di pa ako nakakapasa for onboarding. The tech support told me to ask pldt to reroute my server nearest sa Hk but sabi ng pldt it can't be done daw kaya naguguluhan ako. if di talaga magawan ng paraan..mag aapply nlng ako sa ibang company. i'm from caloocan pala and my internet speed is 3mbps. thanks sis sa reply.

My average ping is 172. Parang never ko pa narinig yung rerouting ng server kase yun na yun e. I have PLDT too 1.5 mbps and stable naman connection with the students. Faulty ba connection mo like madame dropouts or mabagal ano speedtest mo upload and download?

Mabilis nga internet ko eh so far wala namang problema kahit videocalls kasi lagi ko ginagamit skype. Nagmimsg ako sa tech what to do about it since di pwede mareroute yung server, wala pa ding reply eh...Alam ko mabilis na yung internet namin kasi  kahit manood ka ng youtube sa TV, ndi nagbabuffer man lang heheh

I got interviewed at Sankei earlier too. Same interviewer lang ata tayo. He said that my "environment" wasn't good enough. He gave me another chance though. Another interview on monday but before he ended the call he was kinda scolding me because, to him, I should've known that my environment was not good. I don't know if I still want to pursue my application here. For me, the interviewer wasn't that accomodating to applicants.
