buhayin ko muna yung thread hehe. mga chow owners, kakabili ko lang ng chow chow. ang cute kasi eh kaso natakot ako dahil sabi nila hindi daw malambing and kahit owner at mismong nagpapakain, kakagatin pa din. 1st time ko lang magka dog. any tips naman jan on how to train a chow. gusto ko kasi wag sya mag poo sa cage niya. pano ba? hehe 2mons pa lang sya kaya medyo antukin at d malambing.ok lang ba mag ikot ikot sya sa house kahit dpa complete yung shots nia?tsaka sa vitamins pwede na ba yung ceelin na syrup skanya?thanks

^malambing naman [textspeak!] chow ko sis. kahit nung bata pa. hehe. lagi mo lang din siya laruin, magiging malambing din yun. antukin lang nga talaga.

and d naman nangangagat. 3yrs old na yung chow ko. nung pup palang siya, binibigyan ko siya ng mga chew toys (stuffed toys lang). tapos free din siya to walk around the house. pero d naman sa maduming part.

start mo na siya i potty train. dapat kasi d nya maamoy yung urine nya kundi dun siya lage. dapat mabura mo yung scent. i used bleach before and then lysol. tapos lipat siya ng pwesto hangang sa dun na siya sa gusto nameng gawin nyang CR. hehe

I hear Sharon Cuneta has a chow chow. But I could be wrong. Ill find out later this week if  and when I get to work with her dog. I havent really worked with chow chows before ( except when my uncle would make me wash the kennel of a particularly nippy chow. So here is to hoping that the chow chows are as friendly as they look.

But honestly, what I have heard is that they are a one owner kind of dog. Is this true?

my vet is discouraging me to have one kasi mga nalagaan ko na is bulldog, pitbull (super lambing naman samin), labrador, pug, beagle and nagtsick nalang ako sa shih tzu for indoor pets. but i want one chowchow and hubby doesn't approve as well. pero my neighbor's dog si simba super bait naman niya. nasa personality din siguro talaga ng dog.

My chow is super malambing. Not territorial, not masungit. Antukin lang talaga and she absolutely hates cats hehe

  Bad rep naman ng mga chows. Our 2 year old is super malambing and super mabait. Gentle giant, even to strangers. My 3 year old son plays with her alot as in sinasakyan niya, but she plays with him and doesn't get irritated. She's the best guard dog also. Once na binati mo na [textspeak!] stranger she'll put her guard down and then maglalambing na. It really depends on the upbringing. Kung minsan nasa lahi din, that's why breeders pay importance to the temperament.

^^AGREE. it's typical for a chow to be moody but overall it really depends on the upbringing talaga.

one example, my chow, well, he's the typical one, and he bit my brother during my vacay last aug. ang mali lang ng brother ko is, he grabbed my dog sa body para ilayo cya kay bubbles, thus resulted to a some nasty bite marks on my brother's left leg and arm. so, i showed my mom and brother how to discipline a dog (i'm the only one who know to take care of dogs in our family, as for the rest, they're first time dog owners in a way) holding my slippers on my right hand and scolding my dog, showing him that i'm upset with what he did to my brother, i slapped his snout area gently as a form of discipline. i was trying to hold my giggle when my dog started to turn his back on me, from sitting down then he slided all the way to lying down pretending to be sleeping while looking at the door. parang batang nagtatampo

the next day, my dog is extra malambing and seems cautious, trying to see if i'm still upset, after reminding him what he did the day before, i gave him so snack lang then ok na ulit

My chow is starting to shed hair again. Hay... Messy and kainis tingnan. I'm planning to have her fur trimmed really short na [textspeak!].

hi!!!...i nid sum help w/ my chow...he's been highly infested w/ ticks...I had use different treatments such as injectables and topical(esp frontline), nothing seemed to work..pls help me girls...ive been looking for his treatment...T_T

^try spraying with apple cider vinegar sis. or better yet consult a vet

hi gurls i just bought my chow yesterday 2weeks old pa langg sya and first time ko magalaga ng dog gift ni bf nagpadala siya pra mag buy dw ako ng gusto kong dog nsa ibang bansa siya now male ang chow ko bear type...


bigyan nyo naman ako ng tips how to take care of him....
ano ba mganda ipakain saknya in hes age right now 2weeks pa siya
sabi ng seller meron nirecommend sa min prang bilog na pagkain then need p tunawin bgo ipakain i dont know kung best b yun sa knya..


and kylan ko siya pwedeng ipa vaccine deworming pa lang daw kasi ang nabigay sa knya...and mahirap ba talaga mag alaga ng chow chow compare to other breed dogs..


yun kasi napili ko na dogs kasi parang ang sarap alagaan and sobrang cute...kaya kahit sabi nila sobrang hirap daw mag alaga ng chow dog ok lang..

^in general, as long as mahal mo d mo na macoconsider na mahirap. mahirap siguro for others kasi having a dog is a responsibility. para kang may anak, but dogs are much more loyal than humans sabi nga nila and they can give unconditional love.

chows are very smart dogs, headstrong sila by nature but i don't think mahirap sila alagaan per se. just like other dogs, d pwede malansa, bones with sharp edges and malalaking buto, but i think its best if you can take your dog to the vet para mapacheck up rin cya and atleast if you have questions about chows masasagot rin ng vet mo. basta advise ko sa fur para hindi cya mag "hot spots" and para d gano mangamoy, sprayan mo ng apple cider vinegar.

Chowchows are super intelligent dogs, sa dami ng chows namin talagang wala pa ko nakitang hindi super talino.

Chow chows are always protective of their masters-- ganun sila. Wala silang ibang sineserve kundi yung master nila and they are very territorial.

Habang bata pa yung chow, always make it socialize especially sa mga tao at sa mga bata--para pag tanda ng chow mabait at malambing. Pahawakan nyo sa mga tao habang baby pa basta complete dapat shots ha at baka mamaya anong masagap na virus.  Wag nyo sha ikukulong lang sa cage dahil yun ang mga lumalaking matapang at masungit. Socialize nyo sha para masanay sa tao.

Shempre dapat may cage sha pero wag nyo ikukulong lang, dapat pinapalabas nyo lagi and pinapahawakan sa mga tao para lumaking mabait at masunurin.

Always make sure din na di sha matrauma sa isang tao habang baby pa o puppy pa kasi di na nya makakalimutan yun. Madami na kami naging chows and twice na yun nangyari na for instance habang puppy sha natapakan ng isang male na payat-- everytime makakakita sha ng male na payat talagang tahol to death sha hanggang matanda na sha. Parang feeling nya threat yung mga ganung tao---

Pag napalaki nyo ang isang chow na well-socialized, super matutuwa kayo dahil para shang tao magisip. May way pa sila of communicating na alam mo agad kung uhaw ba, gutom ba, naiihi ba or gusto lang maglaro ganun.
