Hi, newbie here. I'm not sure if there's already an existing thread for this. But I'm looking for a speech pathologist for my 4 yo daughter. May mairerefer kaya kayo mga sis? Kahit home based. Madami na ko nacontact na mga therapy centers and lahat mahaba ang pila for speech therapy. My daughter pala was diagnosed with GDD last February and sabi ng devpedia nya, may mga nakikita syang red flags for autism. After 6 months, babalik kami sa kanya for re evaluation and she'll give na daw her diagnosis. She advised us to undergo OT and speech therapy. So very critical yung mga months, kasi i'm very hopeful na hindi ASD yung magiging diagnosis sa kanya after 6 months. Right now, may OT sya once a week and she's doing good naman according to her therepist. Yun lang, wala pa talagang available slot for speech therapy. Sana may ma refer kayo mga sis, really appreciate it. Thanks so much!

Hi sis @soleil_m, sorry sis wala ako marerefer, next month pa schedule ng son ko sa dev ped. Madalas nagbabasa lang din ako ng mga forums para may idea ako. Antay natin yung ibang mga mommies, baka meron sila marecommend sayo.

There is one in UP Manila under College of Allied and Medical Professions. They do therapies for children and adults sa clinic nila - Clinic for Therapy Services, located in P. Faura St. The clinic is just across Rob Ermita.

If you can afford to pay for therapy sa private clinic na over P500 per session, please go to a private clinic instead. I will only recommend CTS for charity patients who can only afford a little over P50 per session, they need CTS more. Besides, may maximum number of sessions lang sa CTS, not sure if 10 or 6, after that, discharged na. Same with PGH and VMMC. Also, therapists rotate every 2 months so hindi magiging consistent ang goals for the child. Years din ang waitlist, when I was an intern there it took 2 years before ka maging current patient. Other patients nga when we contact, patay na pala sa tagal ng waiting.

^Thank you very much for this. Greatly appreciated! Currently sa L.I.F.E. ang OT session ng daughter ko, but pang 9 pa sya sa waiting list for speech therapy. Her therapist said in 2 months time, baka pwede na sya mag go signal for speech therapy kaya sana makahanap na kami. Kung may alam po kayo na speech pathologist kahit home based, we'll really appreciate po sa makakapag refer samen. Thank you so much!

^Have you brought your son to a developmental pedia?  Sila kasi muna yung dapat mag-assess before going to a speech pathologist.

^ah ganon ba yun sis. Thanks sa reply. Akala ko kasi pwedeng basta na lang dalhin. Hesitant kasi mommy ko ipaassess anak ko sa devped. Ako naman open na open baka may early intervention agad if ever. Hindi kasi kami magkasama ni baby sa ngayon. Anyway salamat sis.

^No problem!   Most (if not all) therapists will look for the dev't ped's recommendations because that's where they would based the therapy/program for your child.  And from what I know they can not really give diagnosis.  You're right that it's better to have an early intervention if in case there's a problem. Maybe you can advise your mom na wala namang mawawala if maipa-assess son mo, granted na mahal but at least you will all have a peace of mind.

hope you don't mind me asking bakit umabot pa sis ng 4 yr old anak mo bago mo sya napatingin sa devped? as early as 2 yr old kasi pag may delays napapansin na natin mga mommy's di ba?..and kumusta naman sya sa school wala bang nasasabi teacher?..

Hi darna88, first check up nya with a dev ped is nung 2 1/2 yo sya. The finding was expressive language disorder. She underwent OT for 1 year and speech therapy for 6 mos in a center near our place. We had her checked again this February, and iba na yung findings GDD na. According to the doctor, baka hindi effective yung therapy nya so we have to find another center na okay ang OT and speech therapy. May recommended center sya but OT lang ang available na slot, no slot yet for speech therapy. I also had to resign from work since March because according to the dev pedia, dapat daw matutukan sya talaga sa house, meaning yung mga tinuturo sa center, napapractice sa bahay. So far, I'm seeing great improvement na sa kanya since she started OT sa bagong therapy center nya. May konting words na sya, great improvement since her check up last Feb. Non kasi, wala pa talaga syang meaningful words, babbling lang halos. According to her teacher, ready na sya mag speech therapy, yun nga lang wala talaga kaming mahanap na centers.

My almost 3yo daughter was diagnosed with speech delay and articulation problems. She'll need to do speech therapy. Her devped recommended Med Mom and Medical city. No slots in Med Mom. Any reviews re Medical City? I called too Shine Intervention but she's still on the waiting list for the assessment of a speech therapist.

^Thank you! Will check WeSpeak. If you don't mind me asking, who is your son's SP in We Speak? Are we allowed to request for a specific therapist?

I called Medical City earlier. They have slots but they want my daughter to be assessed first by a hospital-affiliated devped before referring us to their in-house SP, who will asses her too to before starting with her therapy. The devped who initially assessed us is not connected with Medical City. That's their hospital protocol daw. Personally, I don't see any need (and incurring additional expenses) for her to be re-assessed by another devped.

I was able to put her as well on the waiting list for Movement Matters. Hopefully by early July she can already be assessed by the SP. This is my most preferred center cause it turns out it is only walking distance from our place

Hello, Mommies. I'd just like to seek guidance since we are new with this therapy session. We went to MedMom for our assessment. No particular diagnosis was given and they didn't really say that my son has ADHD but they recommended us to give him Speech Therapy. It seems vague and we don't really know how my son is.

They don't have slots for Speech Therapy so they recommended Kid's Haven, NEST, or The Learning Train. We decided to inquire at Kid's Haven since it's the nearest from our place. Any feedback for them? Thanks in advance, Mommies.

My nephew has an appointment this month to doctor pablito but i wont be able to accompany him on that day so i think i have to postpone it. He is 7 and the problem that i am seeing now is his speech, kasi he has this tendency na nahihiya magsalita when all eyes are on him. Btw, he is also on speech therapy and ot. I only want to have a second opinion despite his improvement. Somebody recommended to have him attend a play school but to no avail, i cant find a school for him kasi he is 7 na. May masasuggest ba kayo na play school that can accept such age in alabang, cavite area? He is also attending a regular school na. Kinder 2 na sya. Feeling ko lang it is not enough pa
