Starting Life/Work in US - Tips and Stories

^Ganyan din kami before. As in AU, Canada and US ang options. We chose to go to AU last year kasi mas malapit, winter di gaano (though ibang parts ng AU nag-snow din naman), okay din naman healthcare at benefits sa mga bata. Relatives namin nasa Canada and US. Nagstart kami sa AU from scratch talaga. Yung apartment namin yung boss ni hubby nag-apply para sa amin kasi strict mga realtors doon dapat meron rental history or someone na magvouch sa inyo. Thankful kami kasi yung ibang australian coworkers ni hubby doon nagbigay ng gamit. Gamit sa kusina pangluto at pangkain, gamit pantulog (kama, kumot, unan, etc), brandnew lahat. Yung iba pa nga pinahiram sasakyan for a few days para magamit namin habang di pa kami nakakuha ng sarili namin. Meron din naman tumulong na mga filipino na coworkers niya, nagbigay ng mga second hand gamit pangbata pero kahit na kasi yung thought ang importante. After more than a year namin doon umuwi kami ng mga kids ko for a vacation kasi super nahomesick ako. Mag two months na kami dito at pabalik na naman kami next week sa AU. Sorry ang haba, sana nagka idea ka kahit papaano. Oh, isa pa pala reason why we chose AU, yung sinasabi nila na according to studies is melbourne is the friendliest city in the world - it's so true. As in pag me nakasalubong ka or kahit meron kang madaanan na meron ginagawa sa backyard like gardening hihinto at kakausapin ka na parang matagal na kayong magkakilala.😊

^thanks sa feedback sis. yes ok talaga sa AU kasi kahit mataas ang cost of living duon maganda naman health benefits and all..tsaka tama ka friendly nga sila compared naman sa americans.
sa Canada kasi feeling ko baka hindi ko kayanin kasi lamigin ako plus isa lang relative ko duon at single pa na lalakeng kapatid ni mama.

actually pinaka gusto ko itry is New Zealand  lesser population at mas laid back (ata) tho parang bagay na ata dun pang retire nalang.

thanks again sis sa output. I will go on a vacation next year (hopefully) sa dad ko sa Seattle..magkaka idea rin ako how is it like there.

Hi mga sis, im single with a 4y.o son and I want to go there in US. Im just a normal emoloyee here (call center agent for 2 yrs). Possible kaya na makapunta ako dyan? May relatives ako dyan mga uncles ko and pwede ako magstay sa kanila, pwede kaya yun? Im just getting some feedbacks. TIA!

Hi butterfly20 wow. I just came here last month via a K1 visa. Although prior to, i do come here every few months.  We also just got married last month and had just applied for our AOS. Am glad you've already sorted out work. Am still adjusting to the hot weather. and the big portions of food.   It's very different from London. hehe.  It's a good thing that the flat we live in is quite near the shopping district, so I'll just walk the 3 long blocks   whenever I get bored.

Hi sis! How are you doing? Had a chance to visit this thread. Been really busy with work and married life hehe. Nakaka stress! and yes, last summer was a nightmare. Even though I'm driving now, I prefer to just stay at home and sleep all day haha!

Thanks mga sis sa reply and for giving us an idea.  If I migrated to Daly City SF mga how much kaya dapat baon ko para maka start and secure myself/me & hubby ng ilang months habang walang work.  What's the safest amount?  I don't have relatives in the US.  If ever si hubby lang and his relatives.  i don't want naman na makitira kame As much as possible sana mga few weeks lang tas bukod agad.  Any idea mga sis?  Kayo?  When you migrated how much naging baon nyo? Tia!

You're driving now? That's good   Hope your doing well sis.  I just passed the written part last monday. I'll be starting my driving school soon. hehe. Mahirap lang sa akin kasi sanay na talaga magcommute. Used to live in London for 6 years, and hindi kailangan ng transport dun , parang Pinas lang hehe. 

So I take it hindi ka pa nagwowork? Ako din, at first bored na bored but now I've adapted a domesticated life hehe, and currently busy with mga personal projects hehe.

Hi sa mga sis natin na nasa New York. Baka may kakilala kayong filipino lawyer na nagpapractice dyan. Pwede pa-ask kung paano niya nagawa magpractice dyan? Diretso take lang siya ng New York Bar Exam o nag-aral pa siya ulit dyan? Thanks in advance. Plano ko din magtake ng new york bar exam someday.

^You have to study ng LLM for a year, and then some..Although, may exceptions but..I doubt it is for everyone. Unless sobrang exemplary ng law career mo sa PH. It's also my dream. I'm working on it but on a different state. Same requirement, although mas madali sa NY.
