spicyangel - sa amin 2 weeks lang nakuha na namin pero yun friend namin inabot ng more than a month.  i guess it depends on what state and/or county you are residing (?)

sa new york ako sis, do i need to go to the SSA office agad? or do i have to wait for 1 week bago ako mag apply? kakarating ko lang nung friday night.

^nag-apply kami the following day after we arrived.  yun address nga lang na ginamit is yun sa agent ng hubby ko kasi sa hotel pa kami nag-stay that time.  kailangan na kasi ni hubby ng SSN dahil mag-start na sya ng work and kailangan din sa pag-open ng bank account.

^tingin ko mas makakamura ka if naka-line ka.  dati kasi nun hubby ko pa lang may mobile phone prepaid sya and inaabot ng more than $50 gastos nya every month.  kaya nag-switch sya ng post-paid.  for $80 dalawa na kami dun (t-mobile din kami).

^Sis ask ko lang, pag incoming calls ba may charge pa yun sa receiver? kase yung brother ko na nasa NY, pag tumatawag ako may charge din sa kanya so ginagawa nya sya na lang tumatawag sakin dahil mas mahal pa yung charges. any good mobile company na hindi ganito ang sistema? thanks

hi everyone! i'm planning to have graduate studies in LA during this coming fall term sana. my question is, what are my options for employment to help me finance my education? aside from university work, what else can i do part-time? if you have specific jobs/companies in mind in the LA area, hope you can let me know. thanks!

My cousin has been offered a job in the US and nag-sign na sya ng contract. Even with the offer, kelangan pa din ba nya maghintay ng visa na hanggang ngayon ay naka retrogression?

mga sis help!  lahat ba ng banks ngayon 90% of the car value na lang ang ipapa-loan sa inyo?  kukuha kasi kami ng van, ang kaso naman kailangan pa namin mag-cash out ng more than 6k dahil sa new policy daw ng Chase.

have you tried financing from the car dealership themselves? i bet they'd offer 100% financing lalo na't very weak ngayon ang sales nila. we have accounts from credit unions pero the dealership still beat the financing rate from these banks. we got ours for .09%. of course, credit score is a big factor to get a good rate din.

try a little drama sis. kami we walked out from what we think is already a good offer. the sales guy wasn't giving in to ours. sabi niya sorry. eh di sorry. pero guess what? the following day he called us. kesyo the manager daw is ok with the price we're offering. too bad we went to another dealer who gave us the price we want for the car and package.

and if you have another vehicle to trade, try to get a good deal on the trade as well. pampababa din ng purchase price mo yan.

i have not heard that new policy from chase pero why just limit your options with chase?

^the car dealership is offering 11% rate :o.  when we got our first car from them they offered the same rate which we think is fair since we don't have any credit history dahil 3 months pa lang kami dito.
the drama thing worked in the toyota dealership kasi my husband dropped them dahil magulo yun agent kausap then the following day, the manager left my husband a message.  kaya lang we're closing the deal na sa honda that time.  then we found out na 90% financing na lang ang binibigay ng chase due to recession daw.
2nd option namin is to try at Bank of America.  sana lang matapos namin ito before the month ends.

ah honda naman pala eh. i think they are the only ones not affected by the weak economy! the sales people are arrogant. they know kase that there will always be customers knocking on their door. we were also looking to buy a minivan from honda kaso ang daming hocus pocus and empty promises nung dealer. sa inis ni hubby they gave them a bad review sa edmunds. we also opted to buy an SUV from Toyota instead.

kamahal naman! 11%?

check mo bankrate.com. baka makakuha ka pa ng good rates dito.

are you a costco member? check out their costco auto program. they'll suggest dealers that honor costco discounts.

no problem sis. last year lang kase kami bumili kaya medyo fresh pa yung car buying experience ko. di pa nag-evaporate sa utak ko :))

good luck sis. don't stress out too much. supposedly now is the best time to buy a vehicle. don't let those car salesmen fool you.

I just have a question regarding credit cards. I'm moving to cleveland kasi this june for residency training, so zero credit score ako.

How do I apply for a CC and what CC doesn't charge very high APRs on newbies like me? I heard kasi if first timer ka it can go up to 20%. Recently ginawa akong extension ng Tita ko sa CC niya (greencard holder siya) but I also wanna have a card of my own so I can build my own credit. Thanks! :)

Btw, we are going to the US this June, all my credit/debit cards and bank accounts are my husband's (staying there for a few years) he just gave me supplementary cards and added my name to his checking/savings account, is that enough to build my credit or do I have to get my own pa rin?

Does owning a business (my husband put my name in the corp) a plus to my credit score?  You think I should get my own CCs and open my own bank account?

sorry sis. owning a business isn't sufficient to build credit. the basic criteria is that you must have a financial account from a financing institution under your own name. the bureaus are basically checking the money you're putting in and the money you're spending.

about blog, gt is this only location for that entry. i don't know where else that would be useful. but i'd better save a copy in case that thread suddenly disappears :)
