^ sakin naman sis walang bawal. every checkup, lagi ko tinatanong kung me bawal na kainin, wala daw. bawal lang daw ang stress. hehe. pero siguro depende sa thyroid problem.

@lovebug

I don't recommend RAI to anyone...I had this when I was 17, at the height of my hyperthyroidism. Now in my 30s, I'm suffering everyday due to my hypothyroidism. My thyroid  gland  is completely dead now. If I knew better, I would have done a surgery to remove only a part of my thyroid gland instead. It's not true that hypothyroidism is easier to manage than hyperthyroid. In my opinion and in my experience, it's easier to control hyper basta religious ang pag inom ng medicine. Then do alternative medicine...and do relaxing activities like yoga and massage.

Due to a dead gland, I don't produce any thyroid hormone which caused my bones to be brittle...at 30 plus, I now have slight osteoporosis in my spine. If I could only bring back time, I would have never allowed my doctor to give me rai.

Do your research guys! Be pro-active. Thyroid problems are one of the most debilitating auto immune diseases out there.

^sis, me too I sometimes regret undergoing RAI.  I was in my mid-20s then.  And hindi pa ko maalam sa pagresearch on medical conditions.  I also didn't think to get a 2nd opinion.  yung doctor ko, pag diagnose that I have hyperthyroidism, RAI agad recommend.  Didn't think to explore other options =(

then about 5 yrs after my RAI, I noticed symptoms of hypothyroidism na.  About 9 years na ko hypothyroid now.  And hirap talaga control weight gain.  Max dosage na ko thyrax, pero yung last blood test ko, slight above normal again my tsh =(

I agree with this sis. may mga times na ang sakit talaga ng muscles ko. para akong may trangkaso pero walang lagnat. halos wala akong ganang kumilos. minsan naman I feel so tired kahit naka-upo lang ako maghapon.

sched ko ng this blood test month, sana normal ulit.

Please stay away from RAI! That's super duper toxic...it's radiation...tapos you drink it and it stays in your body for years! Way back when I had that, I was in my room for 1 week...no one can go near me...food was brought up to my room. I don't know how it is now. I remember my doctor telling me I can't be pregnant for the next 5 years ata cus it's bad for the baby.

Hypothyroidism is the worst disease in the world! It affects everything in your body....energy, Brain, moods, hair, skin, weight, menstruation, bones, cholesterol, sleep patterns, mental health etc.

I'm praying na during my life time eh maabutan ko ang thyroid transplant.

For those na hyperthyroid, drink your medicines religiously...get blood tests every 3 or 6 months for monitoring. When we give birth, our thyroid gland gets weaker...when we get older, the thyroid glands deteriorates...why kill it ahead of time? I remember ba my doctor said she will give me the lowest dose...yun pala no matter how low, the rai will be in your system until it completely kills your thyroid. Hay hay hay! :( I'm super sad when I think about it.

UNITED Lab (Taft in front of PGH)

Thyroid Tests
T3 - 320
T4 - 320
FT3 - 420
FT4 - 420
TSH - 420

Thyroid Ultrasound - 500

Just want to share in case anyone needs a checkup. So far yung thyroid ko kahit malaki ang neck ko (chubby) sabi ng doc (allergologist) na wag nako mag worry unless meron akong major life change like getting pregnant/having a baby. I had Thyroid Scan and wala naman abnormal on the inside, and all my blood tests are normal every year.

My aunt had radiation before, so now wala na syang hormones, parang pinatay na kasi ang thyroid gland, under maintenance sya. I don't understand nga those who want to surgically remove their thyroid e, kasi wala ng supply/source ng horemones.

BTW, for Endocrine tests, I think their are like 20+ tests. Not just for the thyroid yun.
