I too got hyperthyroid , was diagnosed back in 2000 and until now still taking my medicines. I was planning on taking RAI na. The nearest is in Cebu but i don't know who's the best doctor there.

Medyo matagal-tagal na din kasi akong hindi nakabalik sa doc ko in cdo, luckily i don't feel anything in my neck like may nakabara or something. My problem is the heat, super sensitive ako.. i easily feel warm and sweaty even in a cooler environment. Air conditioner in full blast really helps but in my line of work i sometimes go out in the field and it so hot!!

        any advice?

sis, I'm not sure if RAI is a good option?  ako kasi, I was diagnosed with hyperthyroid in 2001.  and I had RAI.  little did I know that it's side effect is that there's a high chance that you'll be hypothyroid in the future.  we'll in 2005, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism.  same case sa sister ko.  maybe you should check out other options....

^ hi sis!yup..actually, nababasa ko na rin 'yan a couple of times whenever i googled about hyperthyroidism effects & treatment. That always comes up that the effect of RAI is that you become hypothyroid all the way...why, what's the downside of being hypothyroid sis?

....mahirap ba siya i-manage unlike being hyperthyroid?

^in my case, weight gain talaga kalaban ko.  mataas na din dosage ng medicine ko (150 mcg).  Hindi ako nakapagpa-checkup the past 2 years, so baka my dosage has to be adjusted again =(

Other things that I experience is the bloated feeling and gas

I didn't experience taking meds for hyperthyroidism, so I don't know how difficult it is to manage compared with hypothyroid.  Nung kasing ma-diagnose yung hyperthyroidism ko, RAI agad recommended nung doc.

hi mga sis.
nagpunta ako sa st lukes kanina kasi sinamahan ko ang tita ko ng mgpaultrasound ng thyroid niya. since kamag anak  ang nguultrasound nagpaultrasound narin ako initially kidneys ko pinachek ko kasi nga may stones ako before, before cleared namn na daw. then sabi ni tita pacheck ko narin neck ko

ayun may nakitang parang mass or ewan ko kung ano un sa left side na nasa .8cm ata, so nagulat ako
at naparanoid narin tuloy. nabasa ko sa isand website na prone  daw and 12 out of 15 women sa ganun and most of the time daw benign.

naparanoid ako kasi i nakakafeel ako ng pagod agad, pero kasi anemic ako. tapos reg weight gain/loss
i only gain weight kapag super lakas ko kumain and kapag ng diet [textspeak!] ako or normal food intake babalik sa dati..

;( sad talga. nawawala ba to?

^sa hyper sis is weight loss but if your on medication, controlled na siya. Ang kalaban talaga is yung init..cannot tolerate hot weather or humid temperature then concern sa eyes kasi if not taken care
it might lead to its protusion..they call it graves disease...

^ same din sis....@ first i thought eyebags lang kasi for so long my eyes were okay naman 'coz i wear shades whenever i'm out under the sun and i've read somewhere in a medical blog that it really helps us....

so when i noticed my eyes getting bags i thought because i sleep late and i tried the remedies for those with normal eyebags until it became more pronounced then i started worrying that it's due to my hyperthyroid nga...

that's when i'm saving for my laser treatment na baka babalik cya sa dati..hopefully, God's mercy!

^ naku sis...matagalan na ipon pa ito..last info from my doc is that laser capsule is around 15k and as per his advised i probably need 2 capsule then andyan pa ang 1 week stay sa hospital kasi laser treatment is radioactive so a patient needs 1 week isolation from the rest so from what i heard it might run to around 50k...tight pa ang budget same as you sis!

but let us not lose hope...baka manalo tayo sa hehe...

I have been diagnosed with Graves and I would like to get some information. Has anyone had RAI treatment for graves disease?. If so, what were the results like? Have you had any adverse reactions to the treatment? I have heard that there is a risk of cancer much later on in life. Is this true? where can I get the information? what studies have there been? I hope someone can help. D.
