I was diagnosed of hyperthyroidism last June this year.

FT4- 82 (normal range is 10-28.2 pmol/L
TSH- 0.01 (normal range is 0.46-4.68 mIU/L

tapos after less than 2 months of taking methimazole 45mg/day naging ganito na:

FT4- 26.6
TSH- 0.03

Sabi ng doc ko ire-refer niya daw ako sa endo for possible RAI. Naka-schedule ako this September 24 for RAI kaso parang gusto ko mag-back out kasi natatakot ako sa magiging effect niya 10-15 years after ng RAI.

hi sis. i took my RAI when i was 17 years old. After 8 years, naging HYPO na ako. Na-reverse yung Hyperthyroidism ko. And i hate being HYPO. I feel mas mahirap ito. Please do your research before you take RAI. After 2 months, bumaba na agad yung Ft4 mo, that means you're responding to medication. Plus there are alot of ways to ease the Hyper symptoms. One is to take yoga, may pa masahe...listen to relaxing music. eat alot of cabbage. if only i knew na hindi naman kailangan ang RAI, i wouldnt have taken it. Kaso too late.

mga sisses ako i had surgery feb 2008 .  advice lang suggest nyo sa dr nyo magpaultrasound kayo.  kasi ako naka 6months ako ng medication tapos sabi ko sa dr ko parang feeling ko may sumasakal sa kin.  dun lang nya suggest ultrasound.  it turned out na meron akong mga nodules.  and after that biopsy ,  the result is follicular neoplasm.  so there is no choice but to have surgery to make sure of it is really cancer or not.   my endo ordered total thyroidectomy para if in case it is cancer tanggal na lahat.  kasi pag subtotal tapos cancerous opera ulit .   if it is cancerous ,  you have to go rai after ng surgery.
thanks God mine is benign but I am hypo for life.

and pag pala nag pa rai ang ginagawa ng endo ko pag hypo ka ng husto kasi pag di ganong mataas ang dose may tendency na bumalik.  same with surgery pag di total minsan nag hyper ulit

Hi gurls.... just read the whole forum.... I was diagnosed of Hyperthyroidism last March 2009, after my Birthday, huhu...when i noticed my left eye was not the same as my right eye. the upper part of my eyes became bulged, but not that wide.So i can still hide it by making “Singkit” when talking. My endo told me that my eye will no longer be back to normal even when i started to take a monthly checkup and thorough medication. this oct, i will visit again my endo, but she told me last august that the best way is to undergo a surgery. she never told me regarding the RAI method. But for me, having a surgery is already a major one, and im not that rich to afford it. Does having a RAI can be the other option? i’m 31 years old and still single. But i was afraid to undergo with RAI because of fertility. I want to bear a child of course..so I’m not sure if i will just stock to lifelong medication (but does this healthy to my liver as well?)instead of having a RAI or surgery? But im aware that either way, i will still take a lifelong medication because i will be a hypo. right?

please give me some advice. I wanted to be cure, i want my eye to be back to normal. Because right now, my self esteem is going low to talk and mingle with others. i’m seeing myself alienated already because of my eye.

yung sa akin naman, di lumuwa yung mata ko. sabi nung doctor ko, its either after magamot saka luluwa or di na siya luluwa, kasi dapat daw pag naramdaman ko na yung ibang symptoms, kasabay na din siya. yun kang pagkakaintindi ko.

May thread pala na ganito? I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism last December 2008? My doctor just let me take tapdin - he didn't recommend RAI or surgery. Basta inom lang daw ng medicine. My next check up is on November. If okay daw results, he'll stop my medicine. Hopefully normal para I don't have to take meds na. :)

^ Ganyan din ginawa sa akin. Check up lang palagi. Eventually magnonormalize na rin yang sa iyo. Last check up ko, konti na lang malapit na magnormal. Kaya my doctor is hoping na this October/November, normal na talaga para he can stop the medication.

yes sis! no to RAI!!!!! there are alot of ways to control your hyperthyroidism and dapat masipag lang uminom ng gamot. you can research a lot of ways to help ease hypothyroid symptoms. its soo had to be hypothyroid! good luck!
