i also have AR since elemenetary days and my trigger is sudden change of temperature. in my twenties when i was  working in  makati  pa, i consulted a doc in makati med and he performed a procedure na ini spray ang ilong ko na parang may hangin  haggang kaloob looban  gamit ang  long metallic instrument na kasingnipis lang ng chopsticks. akala ko mawawala na kasi ang hirap mag work sa office kapag sobrang lakas ang aircon kasi madaming computers so ang ac full blas..t ngongo na ako sa pagsasalita kapag inatake  ako ng severe AR...but it didn't do me any good after that procedure..so lifelong condition na sya na cocontrol mo lang from time to time.


doc leletmd i have a question. is there any technique that i can do  for me to be able to avoid my AR whenever i  go in and out of a  fully-airconditioned room/building/mall. for a tropical country like pinas aircon karamihan ng business establishments so paglabas ramdam ko agad ang init kaya umaatake na agad sya. this is really embarassing and annoying kasi minsan para akong kuting na singhal ng singhal kasi parang may naka block sa air passage  ko sa nose.

@leletmd been back reading because my 2.7y/o daughter had cough and colds last week. Her pedia prescribed asmalin via nebulization for 3-5 days.  The next morning she was breathing really fast so pedia suggested pulmodual. Out of stock sa Mercury and they suggested duavent. Nag normalize naman breathing niya after a day of alternating between asmalin and duavent. We switched to ventolin after because we noticed her having rashes after neb and remembered that that we had no problems before when we used that (it was prescribed by another pedia because at that time her pedia was out of the country). Rashes are gone na. Yesterday nag-end Yung 5th day ng prescription but may konting sipon and cough pa (around 1x or 2x in a day). We thought baka dahil sa init lang dahil walang ligo and mainit panahon so we gave her a lukewarm bath. Nag runny nose afterwards but nawala naman towards the evening. My question is, should we continue with the ventolin even if tapos na yung 3-5 days? Or neb with NSS na lang? And pano yun, di siya pwede maligo even if mainit ang panahon and lukewarm water?

Try doing nasal irrigation/wash prior to going out or stepping out. If that doesn't work, then it would be best to consult with an allergist.

Why is she not allowed to take a bath? Pwede naman maligo kahit may fever, cough or colds. Basta short bath and tap water lang. Giving her a bath will not make her cough worse. It might even help kasi maalis ang allergens, irritants, germs and the heat on her body.
As to whether to continue nebulization, the best person to answer that is her pedia. She is the one who knows the full history of your child and who has examined your kid. Better if you can bring her for a follow up so she can be checked thoroughly and so that response to meds can be assessed.

Thank you doc @leletmd. Nasanay lang kami na when we're sick, di pinapaliguan, punas sa lang, pwede palang maligo. Her cough is better na. Nagrarashes na lang siya recently for some unknown reason then nawawala after.  We bought air purifier, cleaned and vacuumed the house etc but bigla na lang namin nakikitaan siya ng rashes. Who do you suggest to see in Cardinal?

Best to have the rashes checked out.
If at Cardinal Santos, you can go to Dr. Miguel Noche Jr. He is one of the fathers of Allergy here in the Philippines.

Hi i was searching for my son's condition. His 3 yrs old. And found this. Hope u could enlighten me.

My diagnosed with pneumonitis this nov. 23, 2018 because of his almost one month coughing with reccurence sipon. Before that his pedia gave him,   ventar  nebulizing, loraped, amoxicillin, probiotics to ventar nebulizing, Almix, amoxclav to asfrenon, allerkid after that 4 continue going back to pedia since october. He got UTI. He was given antibiotics for the UTI plus continuing his meds on his cough and colds. Every consultation for 7days medication. His cough never leave him but has long intervals of coughing but with cracking sound. Until with phlem. But his sipon within 5 days of meds, nawawala na. After 2-3 days its re-accured. Its was then i test him X-ray and run him to a pediatric pulmunilogist.. it was there he was diagnose with pneumonitis and brochitis asthma and allergic rhinitis. He was given almalin plus and asmavent with Flumicul for 7 days and nasaflo for 30days. After 1 week going back to pedia-pulmo, shifted to seretide 25/125mcg for 3 months, meptin 10 days, neopred and xitro for 7 days. For this meds his  cough was gone together with his sipon. Then the pedia-pulmo referred me back to my pedia on january 02, 2019 with no longer cough and colds.  But continue with the seretide and nasoflo (until jan. 15, 2019).. my pedia then concluded and added montelukast 5mg. for 3 mouths together with the seretide.

But this January 07, 2019, his sipon return fall n with ubo. My pedia gave him pedia tapp, allerkid and ventar nebulizing plus continue maintenance meds. In 5 days prior to his meds his sipon is gone. But still with long intervals cough. On january 15 i return his pedia cos his cough still ongoing. Lowered the dosage for 2x/day on cough with ventar nebulizing but on jan. 18 his sneezing return with sipon so i gave him again his allerkid. It stop but reaccured again.. So brought him again to his pedia on feb 8. And gave him salbutamol syrup, loraped, amoxicillin for 7 days.. prior to this days, on its 5th day, his cough and colds were gone. But this feb 14 his sneezing again until today feb. 15 with sipon (light green) after he went to the piggery..

P.s. my son is attending his O.T. session  ( speech delayed/ global devl. Delay) in laoag city that 60km away home. Where in laoag mainit in bangui (home) malamig bcos of hanging amihan mostly at night, every friday at 2pm-3pm.. we travel every 12noon and go home at 4-5pm.

Is my pedia's medical management okay or should i go back with the pedia-pulmo? And what really is his condition. And what should i do.. i hope u could help and enlighten me. Thank u so much.

^sis, my son has severe allergies too. until 7 years old, he was into alnix everyday and other drugs. worried ako noon kasi although effective naman yung alnix, may mga times na hindi naman umiepek. may asthma din sya. he would vomit dahil sa phlegm na nakabara sa lalamunan nya.  we even resorted to essential oil. at first, ok siya specially with fir needle pero soon enough, hindi na naman. that problem continued until i discovered an allergy doctor. that time, my son was also having on and off fever with 1 month interval. the doctor prescribed lots of medicines. 8 siguro yun. he was also requested to undergo several tests. yung sinus nya is barado na daw, meaning, grabe na yung allergy. sabi ng doctor, the reason why i can't pinpoint the reason kung ano talaga allergy trigger nya is because the allergy is caused by dust mites, which is present sa hangin natin so it can trigger allergy anytime. i was asked to clean the house the right way. yung beddings pinapalitan and yung mop na panglinis, he even prescribed that hehe the test also confirmed na meron sya strep infection so trineat din yun. luckily, ngayon ok na son ko. he's taking seretide lang sa mga days na may asthma trigger caused by change of weather. so my advice would be to see an allergy doctor if meron jan sa lugar niyo.

Hi mommies. Sorry hindi pa ko makapag back read. Daughter ko may allergies din. She's 2 years old now pero months old pa lang meron na sya nito. Namana nya samin ng Daddy nya. 
Laging may sipon then minsan may kasamang ubo. Allerkid prescribe ng pedia nya. Mawawala then after a week meron na naman. 
Pero I want to ask lang sino na po naka-experience na pag may sipon si baby nagkaka-rashes at nagda-dry yung cheeks nya. Sabi ng pedia nya basta take lang sya allerkid kasi ayaw nya resetahan ng mga creams/ointment kasi may steroids daw.
So ang gawa namin iniiwasan talaga namin malagyan ng sipon cheeks nya, o kaya linis agad ng cetaphil para ma-moisturize din. Any suggestion mommies?

My eldest 3.7yo has AR and under Montelukast din for 3mos already (since minimum daw yung 3mos prescription). Bumabalik sipon and ubo kapag sobrang laro at pawis. We try to always give him a bath after school and at night para malinis talaga. Sana mawala na uli ubo :|

Yes mommy highness127, ganun na lang siguro. Thank you. Ayaw din naman namin sya lagi expose sa gamot and creams. And observe din namin lagi kung ano nagti-trigger ng allergies and rashes nya. Usually sudden change sa temperature and dust din. Hilig kasi mag play ng kung ano ano at sumuot kung saan saan.
