hi doc! i know this thread is for children pero magtatanong na din ako. allergic rhinitis pa ba tong meron ako? pag nakahiga ako, clogged yung nose ko lalo na pag nakatagilid ng higa, kung san ako nakatagilid, dun yung barado. pag tayo ko naman nawawala pero meron akong post nasal drip. ang ginagawa ko umuubo ako tapos yung parang dumadahak para matanggal yung bara sa lalamunan tapos nailalabas ko naman siya. pero hindi pa rin totally clear yung isa sa nasal passages ko. yung isa mas malaki yung turbinate tapos palipat-lipat lang, minsan sa right, minsan s left. pag nasa lugar naman ako na aircon clear talaga both passages pero medyo sinisipon ako. nagpatingin na ako dati, ang binigay sa aking gamot fpr this is alnix.

meron din daughter ko nito. triggered siya kapag nagbabago panahon. usually kapag nagiging mainit na weather. and sabi ng pedia ng daughter ko makikita din na kapag may mannerism ang isang tao na parang nirurub niya yung nose niya. parang may pinupunasan. lagi kaming may stock ng allerkid at salinase spray. these past few days sinisipon siya tapos nawala yung sipon biglang rashes naman sobrang pula and makati. wala naman siyang fever and wala na din sipon. nawala redness ng rashes but ang dry ng skin ng daughter ko. ang pinagamit sa kanya ng pedia cetaphil restoraderm body wash and lotion. medyo sensitive din kasi skin niya. konting dapo ng lamok sobrang namumula and maumbok na.  then bigla nag l-lbm naman daughter ko kahapon. hindi ko alam if related ba sa rashes ito.

Balik montelukast si baby.but this time for 1 month na... Pagaling na sipon niya pero on and off ang coughing... Kapag lumamig na ang room dahil sa aircon, inuubo na siya... Then papatayin ko na or lilipat kami sa kabilang room, nawawala ubo niya... Kapag nasobrahan naman sa init, ayan na naman si ubo... Matatapos na din siya mag clarithromycin, pedia heard wheezes and crackles kase nung tue... After 4 days of taking antibiotics, hindi na maciadong marinig yung wheezes and crackles... Nakakaawa lang he lost weight, hirap padedehin lately possible daw dun sa after taste nung clarithromycin...

Doc Let, question po, i hope online po kayo (PM message is not working at the moment sa GT ) Started last saturday, watery eyes ni baby, runny nose, cough, and kahapon sunday nag fever.  Sa private clinic namin siya madalas dalhin at nabigyan na siya ng Primalan.. Yesterday dahil close ang clinic, sa government clinic namin siya dinala, pediatric clinic siya actually. Ang findings is URTI, clear ang lungs, viral lang daw, so binigyan lang siya ng pang fever at nasal spray at asahan daw naming taas baba ang lagnat niya mga after two days magiging okay na rin daw si baby. I asked the Doctor if kailangan bang mag antihistamine since duda ko sinusumpong nananaman ng AR si baby and the doctor said they are not giving antihistamine to children below 6 years old

Gusto ko sana dalhin nalang sa dati niyang pedia pero sabi ni hubby baka nga naman tama daw yung doctor wait daw muna kami ng 2 days. Naisip ko rin kung tama siya, less medicine nga kay baby, pero paano kung AR nanaman pala ang meron, di ba kailangang gamutin yun?

OT question po pero sama ko na rin, more than two weeks ng super green na sticky stool ni baby and smelly talaga, i mentioned din sa pedia sabi bawasan ko raw milk, sabi ko EBF si baby, sagot ulit icontinue ko raw milk, nahilo lang ako Baka daw sa kinakain ni baby, wala naman akong alam na green na kinain niya aside from avocado and that was almost three weeks ago na.  Duda ko ulit puro foremilk nanaman nakukuha ni baby pero pag nagpapump naman ako near to creamy naman milk ko. Gusto ko rin sanang isipin dahil sa malungai capsule na iniinom ko kaya? Pero less than two weeks ago palang ako nagstart uminom din. And baby also is taking iron supplement, pwede rin kayang may connection yun?

^ Since your baby developed fever, it is most likely due to a viral infection rather than an allergic rhinitis attack. In allergic rhinitis kasi, there is no fever, the attacks are episodic and doesn't last the whole day, as in morning and evening lang tapos the rest of the day, ok na. The attacks also occur only after exposure to an allergic trigger.
Regarding the sticky green stools, if you are exclusively breastfeeding, there is a chance na more foremilk than hindmilk ang nakukuha ni baby. Iron will cause blackish formed stools, not greenish sticky stools. Try to direct feed as much as possible kung pwede rather than pump the breast milk. Since he has cough and colds, his stools may also be mucoid in nature due to the phlegm/mucus he swallows.

^Thanks Doc So kung may viral infection na, wala po bang medicine na kailangang ibigay kay baby kung clear naman ang lungs? Naawa kasi ako kay baby, di nawawala pag luha ng eyes niya at may times na barado ang nose kaya nahihirapang mag milk.  I noticed some mucus nga sa stool ni baby, as much as i wanted to feed him directly, di rin po pwede dahil nagwowork ako sa araw, kaya nga po ang ginagawa ko pag nagpapump ako ng milk, halos pigain ko na breast ko para lang makuha ko ang mga hindmilk..

dra. leletmd saan po ba yung location ng clinic ninyo?...kindly pm me po, mag 2 weeks na po yung ubo at sipon ng baby ko eh..  at  may parang may hingal pa..pinainom ko po siya ng antibiotic,ambroxol,at [textspeak!] anti asthma..tapos nebulize po siya ng salbutamol+salinase..pero ganun padin po kasi..im planning to visit you in your clinic for check up..madami na po kasi ako nababasa dito sa FN about sa inyo..Plz pm me po.tnx

Supportive lang ang treatment for viral upper respiratory infections. I suggest follow lang the instructions of your doctors there. It should go away by itself in a few days.

Were those meds prescribed by the pedia? Were you able to follow up with the pedia when the symptoms did not get better? Follow up kasi is very important to assess response to the meds and if the patient is not getting better despite the meds given by the pedia, then the child should be brought back to the pedia for re-assessment.

hi doc letletmd, my daughter is 1yr and 1mo. palang at madalas may sipon sya, after ilang days nagiging ubo na sya,, watery [textspeak!] sipon nya. the last time nga niresetahan sya ng antibiotic kasi after 5days of taking loviscol may ubo pa rin. allergic rhinitis na ba un doc kasi now after 3weeks palang may sipon n namn sya na watery sana hnd na magtuloy sa ubo kasi palagi n sya nag aantibiotic at natatakot na rin ako. safe po ba uminom sya ng citirizine alnix, niresetahan sya ng dati nyang pedia ng ganito 2.5ml twice a day, kasi sa box ng gamot nakalagay na this is for 2-5yr old lang. thanks doc!

ay nakakahawa ba allergic rhinitis, meron kasi ako allergy, di pa naman sya sinsipon pero may ilang instances na bigla syang mababahing..

@leletmd..dinala ko na po siya sa pedia and pinalitan po lahat ng med niya pati antibiotic..tinaasan po lahat yung dosage kasi positive na siya sa pneumonia..as for now may pagbabago na po sa lagay ng baby ko konting ubo na lang po..yung hingal at halak nawala na din po.. follow up check up po ulit sa tue kasi babaan na daw po mga dosage ng gamot.. sana maging ok na din baby ko..anyway salamat po

I suggest you do not rely on old prescriptions and instead, bring your child back to the pedia for check up. The medicines given before may not be what is needed now. Nothing beats a good history and physical examination as basis for giving meds.

No, hindi nakakahawa ang allergic rhinitis. It is hereditary, but hindi ito nakakahawa as opposed to the common cold na malakas makahawa.

I took my son to a pedia-pulmo last thursday because of severe colds and persistent coughing. He wa given meptin and desloratadine. I started with both meds last thursday night and his conditioned improved a bit daw today but right now he's coughing again almost every hour. Gano po kabilis kaya maramdaman yung effect nung meds that my son is taking now? Not sure kasi if i should take my son back to the pedia-pulmo na ulit tom to discuss his coughing bouts tonight or wait up to monday. Would really appreciate your feedback, mga sis...

Is it possible na late bloomer ka when it comes to allergic reactions? Kase ako 2yrs ago nag start mga allergies ko. Before I can eat nuts, mcdo chicken and I can take Mefenamic tablets. Pero nung nagpa patch test and skin test ako, andame ng positive na allergic sa kung ano ano. Well 2 year ago I went back to living healthy. I started going to the gym, picky na din sa food and quit smoking na din. Is it possible na side effects cya? Well now everytime pag gising ko, sinisipon na din ako. Allergic rhinitis na nga. hayyy...

dra leletmd still meron padin po cough and cold baby ko.. pero nag lessen na po now..ayoko na siya painumin now ng med.. almost 3 weeks na din siya nag take ng med pero di siya totally nawala eh..pinainom ko baby ko kahapon ng ampalaya.. and naghahanap na ako ng oregano..sana gumalinh na siya dun.

If your child is not getting better, then you should bring her back to her pedia for re-assessment. Do not stop meds without the consent of your pedia.

Most cases of allergic rhinitis start around teen years. It is usually preceded by the development of skin allergies/asthma symptoms. Food allergy usually starts earlier than respiratory allergies.
What was the reason why you underwent patch test and skin test?

hello doc leletmd..

my son was detected with AR. nung sunday may fever siya kaya dinala na namin sa hospital. niresetahan kami ng augmentine 228 mg , Neoterb Syrup at Fenistil Drops. then yesterday, bumaba ang lagnat pero grabe ang ubo. perhaps hindi naman kasi niya alam kung paano ilalabas ang plema. im getting worried kasi im praying na maging ok na ang pakiramdam niya. the doctor told us to visit the hospital again para mabigyan ng nebulizer. he also gave us prescription for nasal drops. clear naman ang lungs ni baby doc pero andito pa rin yong kaba ko. sana maging hiyang siya sa gamot para gumaling na agad ang 9 months old baby ko.
