Yes, you have to continue Budecort. We only start tapering once the patient has been asthma free for at least 3 months. Don't forget to follow up with Dr. De Vera since re-assessment is very important.

When did he start becoming sickly? Having more than 2 episodes of pneumonia in a span of 1 year is unusual and warrants a consultation with an immunologist.
Allergic rhinitis, per se, will not make you prone to pneumonia. More common pa ang upper respiratory tract infections such as ear infections and sinusitis. However, your current living condition may indeed be a factor since mas pangit ang ventilation sa condos compared to when you live in a house. Second, he is at that stage wherein his maternal antibodies are beginning to decrease. If his immune system cannot catch up with the waning maternal antibodies, he is more prone to respiratory and gastrointestinal infections.

We had the follow up check up na. I was worried with my son's frequent coughing akala ko may infection na siya turns out na natutunaw na pala ang sipon niya that's been causing the post nasal drip. Doc Sumpaico checked his lungs they were clear naman daw her instructions were to continue with avamys for 2months and aerius for 2weeks nalang. Hopefully magtuloy tuloy na. Sana rin matapos na ang road construction samin para maka recover naman kami.

we're all responding very well (so far) to our meds (my eldest dropped the virlix na, finally, with no recurring hives or colds)... hopefully, it continues nga

we had to bring our heavy nebulizer to HK though... because my son still had colds then and we even had to bring him to the ER the night before our flight (ear infection scare). We were resigned na to not continuing with the trip but his allergist and the doctors at the ER naman all said we could still go, hehe... parusa lang arranging our IT around his nebulization sked

Dr. Sumpaico is an excellent doctor. Your son is in good hands with her managing his allergies.
Once natanggal ang bara from the nose, expect that the child will have either runny nose or post nasal drip. That means the nasal steroid spray is working.

I suggest you try to identify your kid's allergic and non - allergic triggers. Once you are able to identify it, you can institute measures to avoid the triggers and mababawasan ang attacks ng kid mo.

Doc Let, help naman po kasi anlayo nyo from us. We live at Commonwealth so baka meron kayo ma recommend. Nagtry kasi ako dati ng Allergologist si Dr. Remedios Ong di ko nagustuhan yung approach niya sa amin ng anak ko kaya di narin kami umulit. ^sis kung ako kasi ang tatanungin kahit pa nasa malayo ang area ng best doctor pupuntahan ko gumaling lang ang anak ko. ako from makati pero nakakarating ako ng alabang kapag may nalaman ako na maganda at magaling na doctor para sa sakit ng baby ko. si sis leletmd, malayo nga siya kung sa malayo pero HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, siya lang din kasi ang hindi nag diagnose na may hika ang baby ko samantalang ang 4 na napuntahan ko na pedia at 1 pedia pulmo, sinabi na nila agad na may hika ang anak ko, and puro antibiotic ang reseta. and sa binigay na gamot sa baby ko ni dra lelet super ok na baby ko. sa allergologist kasi sis  sa mga allergies and immunologic issues ng buong katawan ang specialty nila (tama ba ako sis leletmd?). sa napuntahan ko kasi pulmo, nagbase lang sa history kaya conclude agad kung ano sakit ng anak ko  , pero sa tulad ni dra lelet, mas napanatag ako at alam ko na kung saan ko papacheck ang baby ko if ever man.

share ko lang ang expi ko sis ha, kasi sa akin sulit lahat ng pagod at bayad ko, pero di naman kita pinipilit na magpacheck sa kanya. Hope makatulong sa pagdecide mo re sa pag papa check up

Hi doc lelet.. Mukang meron allergic rhinitis ang son ko who will turn 3yrs old this December. For the past month, inuubo sya upon waking up. After 1 or 2hrs, mawawala na ang ubo.

I will bring him to his pedia 2 weeks from now. Naka leave kasi ang pedia nya and gusto ko sana original pedia nya ang tumingin.

Curious lang ako about allergic rhinitis meds. To be taken lifetime ba ito? And what do you think is the most likely cause ng allergy ng son ko? His room is airconditioned but with a dehumidifier on. His bed was newly bought this year. We live in a condo but we're stationed here in Singapore. Our flat is not dusty. But I just remembered na meron construction going on early this month beside our condo. It could be this? Pero kasi upon waking up nag ti-trigger si cough.

Lifetime ang allergic rhinitis and allergic asthma, pero hindi lifetime ang maintenance meds. It would depend on exposure to allergens, response to meds, need for and response to allergy vaccines, etc. Once ma-identify ang triggers, it would be easier to institute avoidance measures and mas malelessen ang attacks.
Since his symptoms occur upon waking up, my guess (guess lang since to be able to identify specific triggers, you need a good environmental history) is that house dust mites are triggering his attacks.
Dust mites kasi ang common na allergen sa mga patients na nagkakaroon ng attacks in the middle of the night and upon waking up.
Why? It is because dust mites are more active at night, eating our dead skin (favorite nila to stay in bed). After eating our dead skin, they would defecate and then, sensitive individuals would inhale the fecal material and the dead dust mites, causing symptoms. Once we are able to wash up/clean up, wala na sila sa skin natin so wala na ring symptoms.
Try to ask your pedia in Singapore if you can be referred to an Allergy specialist.

my son was hospitalized early last month for pneumonia but before we got discharged they changed the diagnosis to Bronchitis.. after a week from his release from the hospital & just right after his antibiotic meds he got the colds & coughs again.. but my Pedia Dr. Fernando of St Lukes advised us that my son has mild asthma & allergic rhinitis.. he was given alnix, montelukast & salbutamol for every episode/ attack..

hi guys! i've been trying to control yung allergic rhinitis ng daughter ko..so sterimar, nasonex, and zyxal ang binibigay ko every time may ubo siya at sipon ok naman pero ganun pala yun kung exposed ka sa allergens wala rin..Sa UP Kalinga Day Care ang anak ko at puro puno, damo at halaman. One month na siyang may sipon and ubo and now meron na siyang lagnat..every week nagpapacheck up ako..nakakalungkot kasi bakit kaya di standard na kapag pumunta ka sa clinic may standard procedure na check yung back and chest ng bata..silipin ang ears and nose... 

Siguro stop ko na siya magday care..tutal end of 2nd Sem na..

joanne... but you know, my son is also always at the park and is exposed to plants and the outdoors at his play school. Thank heavens he responds to his meds... we've stopped with Alnix na. Avamys, Salinase and Montelukast na lang plus, he could also be catching viruses from his classmates... pwedeng it's not all, or aggravated by, allergies lang

hi delisyus! May result na kasi kmi from allergist out of 13 acacia and ipil ipil lang walng allergy ang daughter ko lahat ng weeds, grasses, trees, molds, dustmites, animals with fur and fearther etc..and during pollen season which is August to November ata..umaatake..

I will try to talk to my dra kung anong strategy ggawin namin. Honestly, we love UP dahil fresh air siya my daughter even call it forest daw.

^ You can always seek a second opinion from a specialist.  If your child's symptoms could be allergy-related (and it seems to me that it could be, based on your post), consult an allergologist.  No harm in trying.
