my son and I are now both on Cetirizine and Montelukast... as well as Salinase spray. Not just for rhinitis but because we just really seem to be allergic people now, and I can't determine triggers (well, I had a mild allergy episode over taho, which i eat 4x a week at least)

I got a problem with rhinitis as well at nakuha pa siya ng anak ko....
@delisyus you may want to try other brand kasi dati Montelukast din ang gamit ko pero ang mahal so I switched to Montemax 5mg 35.50 then my friend introduced Cas air 5mg 25.75 almost 10php per piece ang difference.

^ May cheaper brands nga ng Montelukast, which works as well for me and my kids.   Our doctors also do not say naman that the more expensive brand is better than the cheaper ones.

The brand we are using now is Kastorion @ around P14/tablet.  Montiget is around P20 per tablet.  Siempre mas mahal ang Singulair.

^ Gusto rin siya ng kids ko.  They're taking the 5 mg chewable Kastorion tabs while I'm taking the 10 mg. tabs.  My kids are 4 years old.

well...Montelukast is the generic brand right? and syempre naman, Montemax lang ang alam kong brand... till the pharmacy near us ran out and gave me Montiget... I will get kastorion next time! kasi if we're unlucky, we might require 2 months pa of this regimen....

Mercury will always recommend the expensive and known brands, by the way.  Always ask kung ano ang cheapest brand for the medicine prescribed to you.

my allergo naman didn't prescribe a specific brand for Montelukast... sa Cetirizine naman, she just gave me a choice to choose between Alnix and Virlix... it's just that Montemax yung dati pa naming binibili (from an HMO pedia's prescription)

my son takes montiget, while my nephew takes kastorion. our pedia recommended singulair. eh ang mahal (my son takes pa the granule form then multiply that by 3 mos...sakit sa bulsa). when my husband went to mercury, he asked if meron cheaper alternative and was given montiget. Montiget pala is made in Pakistan ata thats why is cheaper.

i so agree with the prices of the meds. minsan try ninyo to get it thru the pedia. like the sterimar spray we get it Php150 cheaper than in mercury. i asked nga if merong pang adult (since i use this too). sabi ng secretary she'll ask daw the med rep.

Kaya pala we had Singulair.. sayang ang 18 sachets ko.. next time I'll ask for an alternate brand at hindi lang kung ano sabi nila..

My son takes 4mg montiget. yung Kastorion ba meron ding 4mg. ? Anong difference ng granules sa chewable? chewable kasi eversince son ko, we are yet to have an appointment with the allergo pag finish ng current meds niya.

^ The granules were designed for infants 3 months to 2 years of age na hindi pa kayang gumamit ng chewable na 4mg/tab. We also give the granules to infants with bronchiolitis (a viral infection common in infants which has been noted to lead to asthma development) kasi for prevention of the development of asthma.
There are 2 doses for the chewable tablet:
4mg - for 2 to 6 years of age (if hindi pa magaling mag-chew, the granules may be given as a substitute)
5 mg - for 6 to 14 years of age

^ginawa namin before yung 4mg tablet binili namin then we just pulverized it then mixed it into his milk. wala pa kasing 2 yrs old anak ko nun, kaya granules pa ang prescribed ng pedia. wala kasing lower-priced na montelukast granules, singulair lang meron nun ata, eh kamahal.

 ganun ginagawa namin until natuto na sya mag-chewable. pwede kaya yun gawin talaga? tutal same lang naman na 4mg dba?

^ We don't really recommend doing that since there is a chance that some of the tablet may be lost in the process. Also, the tablet is meant to be chewed for better absorption.
There's a cheaper brand for montelukast granules. It's montiget. Some patients lang don't like the taste of the granules compared to singulair.

True... my son keeps asking me for the PINK candy medicine (montemax) kasi he doesn't enjoy montiget...so I guess that's what you pay for

doc leletmd...yung mga 10mg montelukast ba, dapat i-chew din? i never did kasi... i just take it w/ water along w/ the cetirizine...

Montiget 4mg ang sa son ko yung chewable masarap naman daw gusto na nga niyang mayat maya di naman pwede. 17pesos ata montiget sa mercury. Akala ko mahal na yun may mas mahal pa pala

Only the 4mg and 5mg tablets are chewable. So tama lang that you take the 10 mg tablet with water and swallow

Montiget is actually one of the cheaper brands of montelukast. Singulair is the most expensive since it's  the pioneer brand of montelukast (they were the ones who did product formulation testing and research, etc. ).
