Pag sinabing lactose intolerance, this is due to absence of the enzyme needed to digest lactose. Ang symptoms nito ay loud passage of gas, feeling of bloating, diarrhea or constipation, painful bowel movements. No rashes. Only gastro - intestinal symptoms.
This is not an allergy, but rather intolerance to lactose due to lack of the enzyme.
Treatment: shift to a lactose free formula

Pag cow's milk allergy or skin asthma/atopic dermatitis secondary to cow's milk allergy, the symptoms may include both skin rashes, itchiness and/or gastro-intestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, constipation, reflux, loud and uncomfortable passage of gas.
Pag infants, rashes develop on the cheeks, chin, forehead, sparing the nasal area. Makating makati kaya ang tendency ng infant is to rub the skin so the rashes are very red and rough.
kapag cow's milk allergy/ skin asthma, hindi pwede ang lactose free milk kasi milk pa rin yun. Either pure breastfeeding or shift to a completely hydrolyzed milk like Nutramigen.
Yes, skin asthma is hereditary and is part of the allergic march ( skin asthma, allergic rhinitis, and asthma).

jorhen.... T-Th 3-5 pm sya sa Rob Healthway... don't know sa MaDocs kasi she just mentioned it (and syempre, dun na ako where her PF will be covered by our HMO at least)... i think her PF is 500 (i saw somewhere here in GT din, pedia allergo sya)

pa join po..@doc leletmd..Good day po doc,I already brought my daughter to pedia allergo per your advised.Doc,i forgot to ask the doctor how long po ba bago mag take effect ang nasonex?Kasi po sabi nyo before mga 1 week bago mag effect ang omnaris,yun po ang dati nyang spray.Ganun din po ba ang nasonex since mas mahal sya..I have another question po,is it true na nakakababa ng immue system ang mga inhaled or intanasal steroid?naka seretide and nasonex po daughter ko.Bye the way,my doctor is Dra Maria Cristina Balotro of Perpetual Las Pinas.She's so pretty..Thanks po doc.

The off label recommendation was mentioned in a pharmaceutical lecture on Cetirizine.

Usually, you would see effects of intranasal steroids within 2 to 4 hours from 1st use, but for the effects to be sustained, you have to give it/use it regularly and slowly taper before discontinuing. Mas potent and considered safer to use in kids ang Nasonex.
Inhaled/intranasal steroids have lesser side effects compared to oral steroids. Localized lang din ang usual side effects ng inhaled/intranasal steroids (dry mouth, oral ulcers and sore throat). If a patient is using intranasal/inhaled steroids, dapat mag-gargle after each use to prevent developing local side effects.
Prolonged use of oral steroids have a tendency to weaken the immune system and affect growth.

sis... not sure sa PF kasi nga covered ng hmo namin... you can call maxicare to ask  

jorhen... i think ok din si dr. alava kasi sya yung recommended ng main pedia ko... and both were under the tutelage naman ata of the father of allergology in the country   (agbayani)

doc lelet, since malapit na ang BER months, ok lang ba to give Montelukast to my son para iwas asthma/allergy? meron ba kaya different dosages iyon?

^ Better to have him evaluated by a pediatrician prior to giving him montelukast.
For kids, there are 2 dosages for montelukast: 4 mg, available as granule form or chewable tablet and 5 mg, available as chewable tablet. Age specific ang dosages.

^thank you doc lelet.. he was given Montelukast last year to be taken for a month due to asthma.. maybe I'll call his pedia in pinas to ask if we can give it to him ngayon kasi very erratic ang weather namin dito.. raining sa afternoon kaya malamig sa gabi..

@doc lelet-Doc,in your opinion when is the best time to give the nasal steroid spray..in the morning or evening?Sneezes happens in the morning.Thanks a lot.

Better to give it at night if the symptoms occur in the morning or upon waking up. It would take kasi around 2 to 4 hours for the spray to take effect.
I suggest you ask your allergologist also since she may have a different opinion/explanation.
