Pasensya na but Allergy medications should not be given without a proper history and PE because if not given and used properly, it can lead to bad side effects.
If it is persistent, that means your child needs to see a doctor so that proper meds and advice can be given after a careful evaluation.

hi po.. ask ko [textspeak!] kasi yung girls ko, lets say nag mall kami during day time then sa gabi pansin ko especially my eldest my dry cough na agad sya hirap sya matulog, then next morning may cold na rin sila, then tuloy tuloy na we end up with antibiotic. bukod sa magastos na kawawa pati mga bata.
im not sure kung nagstart [textspeak!] sa allergy yun, pero parang laging ganun konti mapagod or malamigan sila ganun nangyayari, mas malala pa nagkakahawahan sila. sabay ko sila lagi pinachecheck-up kasi pareho sila ng problem. kahit nagtetake sila ng vitamin c with zinc. feeling ko po mahina immnue system nila since bihira sila maglaro sa labas at dito lang lagi sa loob ng bahay, ano po bang supplement ang pwede sa mga kids ko. tia

If it's pure allergic na cause, walang hawaan. Hindi nakakahawa ang allergic rhinitis.
Does it happen only when you go to the mall or kahit hindi? Do they wash up, change clothes when they go home from the mall?
How often does this happen? Aside from dry cough, what other symptoms do they have?
What's the usual diagnosis given to them by their pedia and what meds other than antibiotics were given?
Aside from cold weather and exertion/pagod, what are their other triggers? Non - allergic cause kasi ang cold weather and exertion.
Have they ever been diagnosed with Asthma? Any body in the family with Asthma, Allergic rhinitis or skin asthma?
I think before giving them more supplements, it would be better to confirm if infectious or non - infectious like allergies, reflux, etc ang cause ng symptoms nila.

^nagkakaroon sila nito kahit di kami nagmamall especially my eldest kahit sa school at may konti sila practice after class, mga 3 days na practice lang bumibigay na yung body nya magsstart na sa sinat then sipon then dry cough then my plema na. tapos mapapasin ko meron na rin yung bunso ko. last time na nagpacheck-up kami may plema na ubo nila klaz ang antibiotic na reseta ni doc then balik daw kami pag ok na mga kids kasi need daw nila magtest para makadiagnosed if my asthma.

Viral infections can trigger an Asthmatic attack. Asthmatic attacks need not present with wheezing. Minsan cough with phlegm lang.
I suggest a consult with a Pulmonologist for work up of their frequent cough and colds.

OR

If they've had more than 2 diagnosis of Pneumonia in a span of 1 year, then I suggest a consult with an Allergologist - Immunologist to rule out an immune problem.

Atopic dermatitis is another term for skin asthma. It is also called allergic ezcema.
Reflux or Gastro-esophageal reflux (GER) means that the stomach contents go back up due to poor sphincter control, and may cause micro-aspirations into the lungs (may na-aaspirate sa lungs) so the patient can also present with chronic cough and wheezing.
You see when a patient presents with chronic cough, the first thing you have to find out is if it is infectious or not. If infectious, then work up for possible TB since this is the most common cause. If non - infectious, then check if it is asthma, allergic rhinitis, post nasal drip syndrome, gastro-esophageal reflux, cardiac disease, etc.

I have AR... unfortunately namana ng son ko, nung baby pa sya palagi may AR attack, now wala na masyado, skin asthma naman... haaaayyy...!!!

I read somewhere that an air purifier (the large, boxy types with HEPA air filters) works wonders for allergic rhinitis. Goddamned expensive, though! I checked out True Value in Makati, at least 20k. If you have relatives in the US, magpabili nalang kayo.

Mga 7-month old son had cough and colds last February. His cough lasted for more than 2 weeks, at first he was prescribed with Augmentin, Prodnisone and may 1 pa eh, I forgot. Then we returned for follow-up check-up, binigyan naman sya ng Ansimar (bronchodilator) for 1 week, walang effect. Sabi, continue lang hanggang sa mawala ang ubo at halak. After a week, I stopped Ansimar and I opted to try Oregano kasi ayokong maluto anak ko sa gamot, wala ring effect so we went back to the pedia. Pina-xray sya, may halak pero clear yung lungs. Ang sabi, allergy daw. So nag virlix kami. 2 weeks na sya nagvivirlix, 6 drops at bedtime. May halak parin. Ngayon naman, lagi na nagiisneeze sa umaga at may tumutulong sipon. Hindi ko na alam gagawin ko sa baby ko..

I'm planning to get a second opinion this weekend.

Yes, possible pa rin, especially kung na-expose siya sa triggers niya. If it happens often or is persistent, I suggest you follow up with her pedia or her allergologist. Also, don't stop the montelukast until you've gotten a go signal from her doctor.

regarding po sana sa reflux.. yun po ba yung kapag tapos na dumede minsan may niluluwa sya tapos minsan matagal na natapos dumede tapos meron pa rin lumalabas na gatas sa bibig nila? akala kasi namin yung kambal ko iniipon lang yung gatas sa pisngi tapos iluluwa din. pakiramdam kasi namin ayaw nila ng milk nila.

BTW, 11weeks pa lang po sila tapos ang mga gatas na ininom nila were ALACTA, ENFALAC LF, S26 LF, NAN HW1 na isinusuka nila madalas lahat ng ininom nila at ngayon po Isomil Advance 1 as per pedia's advise. di kasi ako gano nakapagtanong kay doc kasi di ko pa alam [textspeak!] dapat kong itanong baka kasi di naman related sa colic ng twins ko.. First time mom po kasi ako at parang super praning ako pagdating sa reactions ng baby sa milk nila

Thanks doc lelet sa reply.. Kahit po ngayon na Isomil na sila, may times pa din na niluluwa nila yung gatas.. Elevated naman po yung head nila.. After feeding pinapa burp namin kaya di agad nahihiga kasi medyo matagal din bago sila mag burp... Baka po pala magkatulong to sabhin ko lang, kadalasan po wet burps ang burp nila. Gassy episodes madalas po.colicky. Rashes, nagkaron po sila sa S26 at Nan HW pero s Isomil nawala na po rashes...

Nung december, my OB asked me kelan EDD ng baby sa ultrasound, sabi ko Feb.4, then sabi nya kung mapapaaga ko manganak pinaka maaga yung 1st week of January, di pa full term pero di na daw need I-incubate.. Then January 10 in-IE nya ko 2cm na lang.. January 11, nagpaUTS ulit ako kasi medyo kinakabahan na si OB, ayaw naman nya biyakin ng premature pa. Then sa UTS, nakalagay 36weeks and 5 days, that night, biniyak na ko kasi humihilab na daw at nasa punlaan ba yun dko po maalala yung term, kaso wala akong nararamdamang sakit plus tumaas BP ko form 110/70 to 170/140.. masasabi po bang premature sila?

doc lelet, pahabol po. kelan ko po ba sila dpat dalhin sa pedia regarding sa reflux? san po pala clinic nyo?

tips na din po para maging komportable na sila kasi nakakaawa na po lalo pag umaatake colic, hirap po talaga.

Medyo OT na tayo since this is the Allergic rhinitis thread.Baka dapat sa newborn care thread...
Since the fussiness was accompanied by rashes and you noted disappearance of the rashes with the introduction of Isomil ( a soy based formula and not cow's milk), then it is possible that your baby was having a reaction to the cow's milk.
You can either wait till their Gastrointestinal tract gets used to Isomil or seek consult with a Gatroenterologist specialist already, kahit for opinion lang, since napakarami ng milk ang pinagdaanan ng babies mo at such a young age. If the assessment is that they were having reflux as a reaction to the milk, then referral to an allergologist would be warranted.

Not sure if dito ba to dapat i-post. I brought my son to Makati Med last monday, we saw Dra. Caedo. Ang sabi, noisy breathing nga daw talaga. I call it halak. "BAKA" daw may mild asthma. She prescribed Montelukast, Clariget, and Duavent (nebu). We'll see her again after a week.
