Allergic rhinitis?

hi mga sis...

any of you have kids with allergic rhinitis? i have it and since it's hereditary, i'm worried that my son (who's 2 now) would acquire it. i'm told the symptoms are subtler in small kids. since this condition could lead to asthma (which is also in our family history) i want to catch it as early as i can.

as of our last visit, wala naman daw signs baby ko, but lately i noticed pag sleeping sya parang may tunog yung hinga nya...pag morning and he's upright, wala naman na.

I also have this, and yung baby ko is 10 mos na now, parang almost every month my sipon sya.  sabi ni MIL na self declared expert (oh! please) lagi daw may HALAk si baby, yung yun term nya eh, yung parang my sound sa chest. last na check up namen, wala daw naman HALAk sabi ni pedia, nalalamigan lang daw.  pero worried ako baka mag lead ito sa allergic rhinitis.

My babies also have sipon and ubo almost every month and when I took them to a pedia-allergologist/asthma specialist, she said they have mild asthma (which they most likely inherited from me). 

In my kids' case, the signs are the following:

1.  cold and cough, with no fever and which are more prevalent at night
2.  brought about by dust, extreme changes in weather conditions, tiredness (after playing)
3.  wheezing

What we usually do is to use a nebulizer - with salbutamol (Ventolin or Asmalin) nebules to help them breathe more easily.

The specialist put the kids on Montelukast (asthma maintenance med) and they got better naman.  Now, meron ulit sila ubo and sipon (especially at night) coz it's super hot.

mga 2 days na while watching dvds i noticed parang he swipes his hand on his nose. he doesn't sneeze naman and wala ring runny nose. maybe napa-praning lang ako.

hi. I am asthmatic, as well as my eldest son who is now 6 years old. As early as 5 months pa lang sya, diagnosed na sya with asthma.

Madalas ang nagtritrigger ng asthma sa bata is change of weather o kaya exposure sa dust. Sa anak ko nga lahat ng attacks nya nagstart sa allergic rhinitis. kapag sa umaga, you will notice your son na kumakamot ng ilong at nag sneeze tpos mas malala ang sipon from late afternoon pagabi, most likely meron siyang allergic rhinitis.

My pedia/ allergologist usually prescribe allerkid to prevent start of asthma attack. kapag di nakuha, like sis marose17 nagmomontelukast na rin sya, 5mg chewable once a day for 1 week.

They're taking Montelukast 4 mg granules (Singulair) or tablet -which we grind and mix to their milk.

Okay yung response nila sa Montelukast.  Lately lang ulit nagkaubo and sipon sila due to the heat.

i spray lang my son's nose w/ muconase coz at night & mornin he has this. dati when continous w/n the day that's the only time i let him take an antihistamine at night.

may allergic rhinitis din ako pero so far, wala pa naman akong makita na namana ng daughter ko, 5yo na sya...sana nga di nya mamana

i have asthma as well as allergic rhinitis.. and my daughter have the rhinitis as well.. although nag-manifest lang nitong 3 y.o. na sya. she is on maintenance ng montelukast for 6 months and maganda naman effect. usually change of weather ang nagtrigger sa kanya na magka-runny nose and ubo.. sana naman itong newborn ko hindi nya makuha sakit ko..

Both me and my son have this.. what i do is give him 3ml of virlix syrup whenever a bout of sneezing starts.. para di na tumuloy ng asthma

I have this saka asthma, my 3 boys also. Pero ang grabe is my 2 y/o dahil as early as nun 2 months pa lang sya, the pulmo detected his asthma. Bronchial asthma na agad pero it started sa allergic rhinitis.  kaya pag inuubo ubo na sila or may sipon, anti allergy na pinapabigay ng doctor.

hay.. my bunso 4yr old - its officially asthma as per pedia. last week lang inatake ng asthma. due to alikabok. hay kakaawa bata sana sa nanay na lang lahat ng sakit.

hubby has this as in konti alikabok lang .. sneeze na ng sneeze.. earlier today, we went to st lukes to see a pedia-pulmo kasi every month may ubo and sipon si baby. unang pedia, would give augmentin.. tapos we went to another pedia sabi may primary complex daw.. so we went for another option... and yun nga sabi may bronchial asthma daw...

meron nito yung panganay ko. at ganun din si hubby. starting nung baby pa yung panganay namin, mga 2years old siya nun, as in sneeze siya ng sneeze sa umaga pagkagising niya. kaya nagsasagutan sila ng daddy niya sa pag "hachoooooo!".

binibigyan ng virlix for 1-2weeks, umaayos naman. pero kapag wala ng medication, back to normal nanaman. so nawalan kami ng gana, hanggang sa ngayon na 9y/o na siya, ganun pa din.

yung pedia niya, marami na rin naprescribe samin. may loratadine zylohist 10mg tablet. ganun pa din after some time.

yung latest, montelukast sodium montair 10mg tablet, xyzal (hindi ko mabasa mabuti yung prescription) tablet, tsaka avamys spray. for 2weeks lang yung binigay para sa mga tablet, ayun, balik din sa dati kahit may avamys spray pa.

regular checkup naman yung mga anak ko sa pedia, wala naman daw asthma. though, sila hubby merong history niyan, pati yung allergic rhinitis, sa kanila din history.

yun lang talagang paggising sa umaga ang problema. pero yung maghapon, okay naman siya.

^ panganay ko ganyan eh. lalo na sa umaga pagkagising bahing ng bahing lalo kapag malamig at nagtatagal siya sa room na may aircon. on-off din ang montelukast niya (montemax brand) 5mg at bed time. ngayon dahil malamig ang panahon take siya for 2 weeks. tapos minsan kapag wala tablet pinapainom ko ng allerta syrup.

oldest ko din may asthma kaya laging may allergic rhinitis triggered by climate change. we always spray his nose sa gabi with flixotide as prescribed by his pedia.

kawawa naman my son. he can't take anti allergies kasi he's g6pd positive
