May 3 yr old baby girl got cold and fever, and despite of that she still eat a lot and she is taking her meds on time sometimes even if it is not yet time, she insist, favorite niya kasi ang medicine, kasi super ayaw niya ang doctor, she will do anything para hindi lang kami pumunta sa doctor.

^yes sis, early siya nagkateeth. at the age of 5 1/2 month may tumubo na.. E ngayon, sabay sabay yung pagtubo.

ang baby ko kase late bloomer hehe..at 10-11 months sya nagstart magka-teeth...masakit pagsabay-sabya sis...anong ginagawa mo?i use to rub it ng warm cloth para ma-massage ang gums nya and usually kase makati yun eh

Sa teething malaking help yung teething gel. Everytime teething son ko, need namin yan before he can drink his milk. Else wala talaga intake ng food.

Problem ko pag may sakit and checkup time na, magpupumiglas to the max na son ko. Kaya eto, looking for doctor play set Kami.

nagkaron ng madaming singaw baby ko from taking augmentin last month.. last year naman nagka pimples na parang pigsa na nanganganak sa ulo when he took augmentin.. so next time sasabihin ko na sa pedia wag augmentin ibigay sa son ko..

antibiotics tend to give us diarrhea because it kills the good bacteria in the gut along with the bad bacteria it's supposed to kill.
Kaya for us, we always take probiotics lalo na kapag we're on antibiotics.

my son this morning has vomitting pero minimal lang naman..until 12 lang sya,tapos when i look at his poop medyo basa then i kept on thinking kung anong nakain nya na pwedeng magtrigger sa diarrhea..wala naman akong maisip then hubby said na baka sa full cream milk na sinama namin sa vaocado we ate last night for dessert..ayun after a while nag-poop sya na kulay avocado and with his phelgm...after several hours of observing back to normal na ulit si baby..

hhhaaaayyy... my baby was diagnosed with amoebiasis. nakaka-awa. kitang-kita ko yung pain nya dahil humihilab yung tummy nya. what's even more painful to me is she is crying and sinasabi nya "mommy, chatit chan ko"... kung pwede lang ako nalang ang maka-feel ng pain. she's on medication now, flagyl 3x a day and i'm giving her erceflora (probiotics) in between.

As of last night naman 1 beses palang sya nagpoop the whole day. from time to time, mejo nagsasabi sumasakit yung tummy nya, pero hindi na sya umiiyak. so I'm thinking that her condition is getting better. di ba amoebiasis is recurring? what would be the best measures to prevent or at least minimize the recurrence?

Oh, and by the way, i forgot to mention, she also has UTI at the same time. so double antibiotics sya. I forgot to ask her pedia if I were to increase the dose of the probiotics. Any insights mga sis?

Ang explanation sa akin ni Dr. Chen abt amoebiasis is that the amoeba comes in 2 forms, cyst and trophs (trophozoites). Yung cyst is parang the dormant form. When the cyst releases the trophs, this is what causes the symptoms (diarrhea, vomitting). The antibiotics (Flagyl) only kills the trophs not the cysts.
This was the reason why my son was prescribed Flagyl for 10 (or 14, di ko na matandaan) days. To give enough time for the cysts to hatch (don't know if it's the right term) the trophs and kill it. I think ang recurrence is if may natirang cysts after the antibiotic protocol is done.
I had my son's stools checked weekly for about 4 weeks after his antibiotics to make sure.

Re: probiotics, my son was prescribed OMX probiotics which he took 3x/day. We made sure there was 2hrs in between probiotics and antibiotics to make sure the antibiotics don't kill the probiotics.

^thank you for the information... fecalysis results ng baby ko is may E. histolytica cysts. should I ask my daughter's pedia if i-extend ko ang use ng Flagyl? For 7 days lang kasi yung nireseta.

Medyo hesitant nga lang ako kasi I've read dun sa package insert nung Flagyl na metronidazole was found to be carcinogenic in rodents, so may potential din na same effects sa humans.

I don't think it would hurt to ask your doctor re: her recommendations. Iba iba din kasi ang approach ng doctors with various illnesses.
And yes, metronidazole has a lot of potential side effects but so do a lot of other things. Unfortunately, metronidazole seems to be one of the more effective drugs/treatment against amoebiasis.
It might also be wise to figure out how she got amoebiasis. When my son got it, we had our water tested, including bath water. We finally deduced that he probably got it from restaurant food.

^feeling namin sa ice nya nakuha yung amoebiasis nya. kasi since we just moved out of my parent's house, wala pa kaming ref. Naging dependent kami sa ice na nabibili sa supermarket, tapos nilalagay namin sa cooler. Mahilig kasi sa cold drink si baby kaya nilalagyan namin ng ice even yung milk nya.

pero pwede din sa environment. thumbsucker kasi si baby. eh mahilig sya makipaglaro sa pets. kaya ewan ko din...

I'm trying hard to remember and parang natatandaan ko na pala that the initial antibiotic protocol was for up to 14 days. But on the 7th day, we had fecalysis done and it was clear. But our doc wanted 3 consecutive clear results so we tested on the 8th day and 9th day. Kaya umabot ng 10days ang antibiotics. But like I said, it was pretty hazy (nagbabakasyon lang kasi kami non so jetlag and pagod combined) pero parang ganon ang recollection ko sa treatment protocol for my son.

Flagyl & OMX probiotics din kami kay Dr. Chen after my son was discharged from the hospital, he had amoebiasis when he was 1 1/2. 3 days yata kami sa hospital so 3 days Flagyl, then 5 more days yata after discharge form the hospital + OMX yan.

haaay... yesterday, my daughted had fever up to 39.5 degrees. she also refuses to eat and drink milk. had to take her back to the doctor this morning, found out that she also have tonsilitis and halak. Doctor had to change her antibiotic - from contrimoxazole to cefixime - to cover her UTI, tonsilitis and halak. plus meron pa din flagyl na 3x a day.

On Friday, if fever still persists, we have to have her blood checked.
On Sunday, 2nd round fecalysis.

Haaay... nakakatakot kasi baka ma-trauma na ang baby ko...

when my son had amoebiasis, hindi din sya kumakain. Buti na lang he was still breastfeeding then.

My 3y/o has singaw, tonsilitis ang swollen gums right now.  May kasama ding fever.  Nahihirapan siyang kumain.  I hope he gets better na.
