But if dito sa generic pharmacy bibili, less than 2k lang wala pang senior citizen discount. what do you think mga sis...

  We ask her doctor regarding this matter, pero ang sabi nya its up to us daw to decide if generic ang bilhin. parang she doesn't want to give her views regarding that matter.

Her doctor might be sponsored by the brand your Mom is using that's why she didn't share her opinion.
Pero I think generic is ok 'coz it's a lot cheaper.
Ang laki ng matitipid mo.
My Mom had aplastic anemia and we decided to switch her meds to generic ones and okay naman.

Even for generics I think malaki patong nila. I went to Bambang and saw the generic Paracetamol at 25.00 pesos for a box of 100 for our med mission and sa Generics Pharmacy 50.00 (or it was 55) for the same Paracetamol. As in same box, same labelling.

For me convenient yung Generics Pharmacy kasi maraming branches but if I really want to save I'll go to Bambang.

And about the comparisons of generics vs branded ones, its really up to you. Some docs do have their prererred brands not because they are sponsored by drug companies but some have different qualities than others despite having the same amount of drug. Case in point, my brother uses branded Mefenamic Acid because once he bought a generic brand and he had to take 2 500mg caps to get the same effect of 1 500mg cap of the branded one. My classmate naman uses Metformin and sya naman sa generic may metallic taste sa mouth as compared to the branded one. I myself as a med student sometimes prefer branded ones, but not all the time.

What I worry about with generics is -- how much integrity and care was expended on sourcing the generics?  Natatakot ako at baka kung saan saan lang sourced, like that latest medical disaster -- from China to Barcelona to Panama.

With branded meds from Mercury -- I have hardly any doubts.
They have systems and safeguards in place for their sourcing.  (No, I am not a stockholder nor employee/supplier of Mercury Drug.  How I wish! )

Going back,  I prefer buying meds in the US when the opportunity rises.

oo nga. kahit sino syempre gusto mo yung sigurado ka sa quality pero sa hirap ng buhay ngayon at siyempre, karamihan ng mga pinoy mahirap lang so talagang marami ang bumibili sa generics pharmacy.

There are some good generic medicines, there are some which are really ineffective.

^Yes I have to agree on that. For sure though yung branded have the name of the pharmaceutical on the line kaya most likely, you can be assured of the efficacy.

Sis try Bambang. They have generic meds at very low prices although yun nga lang, I'm not sure of the quality since I havent tried them myself. I go here when buying supplies for med missions.

suki ako ng b-complex and ferrous sulfate sa generics pharmacy. efficient yung b-complex, whole day ako sa school may work pa ko, layo pa byahe at di naman ako stressed at the end of the day. extended pa yung araw ko andami ko nagagawa pagkauwi ko. yung ferrous naman nakatulong for my reproductive health.
i don't look maputla na. haha.

tingin ko hiyangan din kasi ito, andami nila tinda na gamot dun, we wouldn't know if each and every single medicine they sell is effective.

suki na rin ako nito, dito ko binibili yung mga gamot namin like sa ubo, mga vitamins, kasi natest ko naman yung effectivity niya for a much cheaper price, eh mahal mahal sa mga mercury/southstar/watsons pharmacy. kaya malaking bagay din talaga toh lalo na sa panahon natin, krisis! bawal magkasakit!

^^ dapat talaga suportahan natin tong mga ganito, malaking bagay rin toh para sa atin. laki talaga ng natipid ko nung dito na ko magstart bumili bili.

okay lang yung generics for me basta gawa ng Unilab, Pascual or Pharex.

For almost a year now I've been buying my maintenance meds (for hypertension/diabetes/dyslipidemia) from this store. So far, they're as effective as the branded ones. If they weren't I probably would've stroked out by now.

Ano ba pagkakaiba ng generic sa branded? Sabi kasi nila, ang only difference is that nag aadvertise yung mga branded na gamot, unlike generic na gamot, so mas mura yung generic. Is that true?

from generics pharmacy my family has tried:
ambroxol
a generic form of alaxan
amoxicillin
vit c
metformin
even a cholesterol drug for 9 pesos each (if i remember right if it's not generic it's over 90 pesos)

and okay naman sya.

my maid once had a cough that wouldn't go away and she was prescribed ambroxol and amoxicillin and ito yung nagpastop ng coughing nya.

one time when i had a cesarean and nainfect yung tahi ko, my doctor prescribed an antibiotic that was 75 pesos each and we couldn't find any, eh at that time we lived nearby lumar pharma (they make generic drugs) and i found a generic counterpart for my prescription and it was only 7 pesos each and mabilis naman recovery ko.

diba mercury used to carry brands of gluta na napagalamang kulang sa laman?

pag beauty supplements i don't trust philippine brands anymore.

anyway siguro walang mawawala if we try.  since na pass na yung cheaper medicines bill kaya dapat lang magmura na mga medicines.  just my opinion lang naman.

itong generics pharmacy matagal ko nang nakikita sa quezon ave... mga at least 10 years ago nakikita ko na.  and nakita ko din sa buy and sell nung nagstart sila magpafranchise.  i always thought it would be a good investment nga kaso wala pa me ipon hehe and now it's almost everywhere na may mercury hehe...  just my opinions.
